It's likely real and the conventional backwards-compatible update that I think a lot of Switch players were hoping for. As the article states, the top USB-C port is what I'm most curious about. I'm betting the possibility of additional peripherals, be it a second screen or wacky stuff that we couldn't imagine, is where we'll be surprised.

It's a great list, though I would add the little indie photography game Toem.

I'm grabbing this on day one and am thrilled to see NES Tetris coming to NSO. Agreed that the addition of The New Tetris from the N64 would have been great. Hopefully it comes to NSO too.

I am stoked to see Peglin and Pizza Tower. Morsels, Neva, and Moth Kubit look very cool. Very happy to see Tetris Forever and NES Tetris finally dropping onto NSO (its omission has always irked me). Definitely a good one with something for everyone.

@ScalenePowers Great question, it’s something I was wondering as I wrote this article too. Pokey is the quintessential troubled child. His parents are shown to be neglectful, and his family is driven by greed and selfishness. I see Pokey’s need to bully and antagonize as a way to deal with corrosive family dynamics, this is true of most schoolyard bullies. But this character goes from being a victim of his circumstances to becoming a monster in his own right. He’s a symbol of what can happen when a child’s pain and anger are left unchecked and allowed to fester into something much darker.

This is right up my alley.

I have licked a Switch cartridge.

@Tempestryke they put out a new IP, Mr Run and Jump, which is a great precision platformer, and a rougelite Days of Doom, which I haven't tried yet. They rebooted Haunted House as a stealth rougelite which I really enjoyed, all three on Switch. They've got reboots of Food Fight, Sprint and Lunar Lander on the way too. There's also the micro-game style Atari Mania, and the goregous Tempest 4000 and Akka Arrh, all on Switch.

@Krambo42 Mr Run and Jump is superb! Both the modern and 2600 renditions are great and represent more of what Atari should rollout in the new IP space.

@LinktotheFuture Berzerk Recharged was wobbly on launch but there has been two patches since and the game runs a lot better. I have played it a lot and never experienced a crash.

I would love to see a super polished "Nintendo Pinball Museum" type game on Switch with original tables based on all the key franchises, a cool way to present Nintendo history. Throw in a Hanafuda pinball table for good measure.

Woohoo! Tetris 99 is not dead! Every time we get a Maximus Cup, I get the feels. Love this game.

I audibly cheered when this was announced, so thrilled to finally get to play this on Switch.

Hopefully, we get a port.

What a diva, have a little reverence for the character. Even if the movie turns out great, I still think Rogan himself makes the best argument for why professional voice actors should be hired instead of cringe celebrities.

Nintendo is so unpredictable with these updates. This the first time the base tier of NES and SNES have been updated in ages. Glad to see it. With the Wii U-3DS eShop closing, hopefully a lot of those virtual console titles will come to NSO. I'd really like to play The Mysterious Murasame Castle on Switch.

I am one of the oddballs who purchased a Wii U in January 2023, having grabbed it on impulse for cheap while I still had a few weeks to scoop up eShop games. I would have liked to grab this one, but it's sadly delisted.

I just want a "Super Nintendo Switch"

Not great to see, but their current show is way better because have complete editorial freedom to be themselves now.

I tried playing Resident Evil 8 Cloud and it was so awful and unplayable on my connection that I couldn't get past the first room.

Vampire Survivors needs to be on Switch. Outer Wilds and Sports Story have a solid chance of being shadow-dropped.

No complaints about these titles, I just wish Nintendo showed more love to the SNES and NES. There are plenty more titles they can throw up on those two systems, but they just don't.

I picked this up on launch, probably put 3 hours in and dropped it. I think most players did the same. I'm planning to revisit it but will have to relearn it all. It's a mystery to me why this game doesn't have Splatoon style 4v4.

I really enjoy Scarlet/Violet's gameplay so far. I haven't experienced any of the nightmare glitches seen online, but the game just looks so janky.

The performance needs to be improved and the bugs dealt with. Visually, if they brought the game's textures and environments up to par with Pokémon Legends: Arceus, I would be very satisfied.

@Serpenterror I would prefer the character depictions to be visually consistent with their past representations. As others have mentioned here, the visual aesthetic of CGI movie characters isn't as charming as how these characters have appeared in games.

@Sisilly_G Totally agree, those things are off-putting. That said, I'm sure this movie will be massively profitable and a big success.

I don't know why they didn't just use the character art style from the games.

Mario, Luigi and Peach look strange to me, there's an uncanny valley quality to their features. The debut trailer didn't do much for me, with the worst aspect being Pratt's banal Mario voice rendition. Overall I wish this movie wasn't a thing.

We need a Nier Replicant port now!

Well, this looks way more gripping than I expected. I was on the fence before about this, but that trailer convinced me this game will be a good time.

Unpopular opinion: I like BoTW Shrines more than Dungeons.

I am by no means knocking dungeons, however, and this list highlights some of the very best of the series.

An IP with heaps of unrealized potential. I'm praying to the Nintendo gods that we see more of this franchise in the future. Its a winner.

What's the deal with Miyamoto restricting the dev's creativity? He decreed that no unique NPCs should be allowed or something?

I've only played Origami King. It began charmingly enough, but my enjoyment waned with the repetitive gameplay and dragging length. I was relieved when I finally completed it and I never wanted to play it again. The earlier entries are universally praised and I wonder how they differ from the newer ones.

I got my Switch in late 2019 and only began my first playthrough in February. I knew it was the system's standout game so I wanted to play some other titles first before digging in, which I don't regret.

I'm really taking my time with it. I've got around 175 hours and one more Divine Beast to go. I've got 400+ koroks, 100 shrines done, max stamina and many hearts. Absolutely love it. Best Switch game and one of the best-designed games ever.

I doubt I will 100% it by the time TOTK releases, but my goal is to have beaten the game and completed all shrines by then.

Having grown up on GameBoy, this gives me the feels. Right up my alley, definitely going to check it out.

33, grew up on the original GameBoy and today Switch is my favorite console of all time.

It is pretty surprising just how well Super Mario Party sold. It's not a game that many seem to still talk about or praise highly. I guess it was very well-marketed (the commercials make it look super fun) and flew off the shelves earlier in the Switch's lifecycle. A solid game overall.

Saturn and Dreamcast for sure. Put them on NSO while you're at it!

I've given this game a try and it is actually a lot of fun. I can see why they picked it for a Halloween-themed trial.
