Re: Poll: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Is Almost Here, So Have You Completed BOTW Yet?

I got my Switch in late 2019 and only began my first playthrough in February. I knew it was the system's standout game so I wanted to play some other titles first before digging in, which I don't regret.

I'm really taking my time with it. I've got around 175 hours and one more Divine Beast to go. I've got 400+ koroks, 100 shrines done, max stamina and many hearts. Absolutely love it. Best Switch game and one of the best-designed games ever.

I doubt I will 100% it by the time TOTK releases, but my goal is to have beaten the game and completed all shrines by then.

Re: Chris Pratt Has Seen The Super Mario Movie Teaser, Says He's "Blown Away"

Video game movies are not my cup of tea. Even if this one is well received, I would have personally preferred a new 3D Mario game instead of a movie.

That said, Nintendo will probably earn a lot of money from this movie. I hope that whatever changes occur to the Mario series via the movie do not spill over into the game universe. Charles Martinet will always be Mario to me.

Re: Nintendo Announces End Date For Dragalia Lost

I tried this out of curiosity. Definitely the most "mobile game" feeling of Nintendo's mobile outings. There's a generous amount of voiced story content and the combat loop is simplistic enough to play one with hand and fun enough. But the convoluted menus and currency systems were tedious and plainly not fun.

I'd rather just buy the game at a standard retail price and unlock gachas through progression rather than deal with the overly complicated free-to-play in-game economy. This is why I generally avoid mobile games. If Draglia Lost can be "consolized" I would give it another go.

Re: Video: What Was Your First Video Game Ever?

Mine was Super Mario Bros. 2 for the NES. I was probably around 3 or 4 years old when I played it and don't think I ever got past the first level, but I remember booting it up often to have a go. The character select screen with the red curtains is forever baked into my memory. Classic game. For the record, I'm 33 years old and was playing it after Super Mario Bros. 3 had already long been on the market.

Re: Surprise! Doom Eternal Is Getting A Limited Run Physical Release On Switch

I have been waiting for this since its launch, but I caved and bought Doom Eternal and DLC digitally earlier this year at a deep discount. I'll choose whether to buy when we have details about what's on the cartridge.

QUESTION: If the cartridge only contains the base game, will it sync up with my existing digital purchases of DLC?

Re: Poll: If Nintendo Released Mother 3 In The West, What Would It Be Called?

nib0

@Serpenterror Only in Japan, which shouldn't have a bearing on the naming conventions of a Western release of Mother 3 nearly 20 years later. "Earthbound Advance" would be consistent with naming conventions for the console it originally appeared on, and I personally think it sounds better than anything proposed in the poll.

Re: Splatoon 3 Will Supposedly Be "One Version", Could Regional Issues Be A Thing Of The Past?

nib0

That's great news. I'm in Asia (outside Japan) and have a US eShop account and a European hard copy of Splatoon 2. I mistakenly bought the DLC from the US eShop and it was incompatible. I explained the situation to Nintendo and, fortunately, they gave me eShop credit. I had to then open a European account and buy a Euro-denominated eShop card to purchase a functioning copy of the Octo expansion. What a headache. I should have just waited and got it for free through NSO -__-

Re: Bandai Namco Appears To Be Remastering A '3D Action Game' For Nintendo

nib0

Bandai has a strong relationship with Sakurai, so I think there is a strong possibility of a Kid Icarus Uprising HD remaster. The game would translate well on the Switch with gyro controls. It's an incredibly meaty title for a handheld game, and I believe Nintendo did say other 3DS titles could be ported back when Miitopia was released. I wouldn't rule it out.

Re: Nintendo Continues Expansion In Southeast Asia With Official Websites For Malaysia And The Philippines

I'm in Singapore and can attest that most Switch players here buy games from the US eShop, and have only seen US dollar-denominated eShop credit for sale here. Physical games from all regions are sold here too. Most of my physical collection are US or UK versions of games. English is widely spoken in the region.

I actually jumped off the PlayStation ecosystem entirely in 2019 and "switched" to Nintendo because the Switch eShop is region-free. Sony makes it a lot harder for PSN users to access foreign stores, and their game selection on the local digital store was pathetic and filled with glaring omissions of indie titles especially.

I'm so much happier being a Nintendo guy. One of the sore points, however, is that NSO subscribers in this region have no official way to buy things like accessory controllers, which only ship within domestic markets. I've had to resort to eBay for all that stuff, which sucks.
