That clear protector really makes justice to the colors and it seems to have a kickstand too. Shame the stand looks just as bad as the one on the regular switch. But anyway that's something I'd buy if I got myself a (yellow) switch lite.
And while I'm at it, ranting, I seriously think this game should have been 39,99 MAXIMUM. I mean, it's basically the same gave you can buy for the 3DS for like 5 or 7 euros/dollars? Metroid samus returns and luigi's mansion remakes were at that price point. And even those Crash and Spyro remaster/remake-TRILOGIES were 39,99 when they launched. I want to play the damn game and enjoy the updated visuals but damn that's a lot of money to ask for a gameboy game you can finish in 10 hours and collect everything.
So the game is 59,99 euros/dollars digitally? The cheapest I could get a physical delivered for 54,85 (in Finland). So still it's a better deal to buy physical, get some gold points and be able to sell the game if I so want to. I also think giving back credits from purchasing games digitally is not that great deal because it only gives you some when you buy another game digitally. Also, pre-ordering a physical copy should get some discounts too in my opinion. At least to some degree of how early you pre-order.
Anyone who bought the system earlier (and still have warranty) might hope something happening to their switches. Nintendo might replace a faulty unit with a new revision.
The European version looks the best. It’s simple and has a good scary atmosphere. It looks more ”Hollywood” compared to the other looking more cheap B-style film stuff.
@FTPinkRabbit Yes I know the two models are supposed to co-exist. But still I think if one of the models should have the best battery life it should be the portable only. I understand it’s not an easy task when they need to shrink down stuff, keep costs down and still try to maintain the screen resolution, clarity and brightness. But if we see the lite as a stripped down, lower end, budget model then the battery life stuff makes more sense. I just personally have seen the lite as an equal but just portable only.
@BlueOcean Makes sense. I wonder if battery size is the reason for the lite not being even smaller? Because I might have thought about it if it was the size of a vita for example. But as it’s not really small enough to be seriously carried with me I’ll wait for a possible switch pro. If Nintendo does not release a pro model then I might get the new standard and sell my current.
@EarthboundBenjy Ok thanks for the info! I might pass the first one then because I thought the second one was a bit on the shorter side and could have had more refined combat. I liked the puzzles but didn’t finish the dream world completely because there was nothing to fight with. Also all the boss battles were kinda generic and easy. The final boss gave me some challenge. But what I love about 2D zelda games is that bosses require you to use all different weapons. None the less, i liked the game but don’t think I’ll ever return to it.
@MasterJay @CreepyNoodles @BlueOcean ah okay the battery is smaller. It really is a shame because a portable only device would benefit having more battery life.
Its just weird how the switch lite is said to have all those energy saving upgrades but still the battery life isn’t as great as the new standard model?
Anyone who played this and the second one, how do they compare? Worth picking this up if I just finished the second and thought it was decent? I’m hesitant because I didn’t love it, just liked it.
So the games were not really complete when they released the trilogy on PS4 and I think they had some file size optimizing/compressing to do. But now as the game has been out for some time I thought they had everything done so everything could fit on a single cart. But if they are in fact just putting the first one on a 8gig cart instead of all three on a 16gig one?
@imgrowinglegs If their games don't cost all that much to produce, they are able to sell them for 4,99 for smartphones and still get profit. I guess people will buy these games because they are so cheap and they just need some kind of entertainment. Then Kemco can repeat the process every week and thats about it.
Nice! I hope they'll be released soon. I never finished Doom 3 as I only played the PC version on a friends house as a kid. Not sure if I NEED Doom 1 & 2 again on a different system, but hey if the pricing is that low then why not. A physical collection would also be awesome but I'm fine with digital too. Some other companies, cough cough Capcom, should take note here on pricing ports of old games.
If this will be the only pro-model we will ever get then yes, I might be tempted to grab one of these eventually. But I'm hoping for something more than just better battery life, as much as I'm waiting for Nintendo to release a switch extra lite
Nintendo should just bundle the regular switch with the joycons we have already, but sell one "single player" joycon that has a d-pad. Or make different bundles, one with the basic joycons, one with a d-pad joycon and maybe a bundle with both.
So it's called a switch even if it can't really? It's a NintenDon't switch. I'm sure they will come up with the pro model that can't switch either, but instead of being a portable one it will only play connected to the tv. And it will be called Nintendo Stitched. All jokes aside, that yellow looks so adorable I might "need" it!
I don’t get the N64 out of it. Also, I don’t spend 170 on sneakers when 50-60dollar/euro ones will do the same. Black and white Vans old skool or something.
I’m not that interested. I usually don’t play quick bursts of small simple games on the go because I don’t need to fill every moment with something. I usually even don’t like just casually playing small. I also hate full touch controls and the fact that smartphone batterylife is not that great. Focus on the console games please GF.
@Steel76 Same here. I used to be the one who wanted the most special edition of every game. But even back then I rarely looked to the artbooks or listened to the soundtrack cd:s. All that stuff just ended up being inside the cardboard box they all came in. Now I only have a couple of special editions left. The normal game with the normal box is enough for me, most times even digital download is fine.
They might not make any NEW games for it but the system has so much games to it. So many quality RPG's, all those great DS-games. I still have lots of games I have not played or bought for the DS/3DS I want to experience. The system lives on as long as people are playing their consoles. So Nintendo might be done but us gamers are not. I have mainly played games on my switch for the last 1,5 years I have owned it (and PS4 too). But that's just because it still feels new and fresh compared to the 3DS. If only I had more time to sink in for gaming though.
@Zidentia Those blue joy cons really fit, and I like that the artwork is not overwhelming. I don’t think I really need another switch even though it looks cool. Maybe when those pro/lite-models (eventually) are released, I’ll wait for some nice custom console instead the basic model.
@Spoony_Tech We’ll play it twice! I want to start with the 16bit style because I played the game on PS4. My only worry is the time I need to invest on RPG’s alone this fall 😁
So much interesting stuff coming to the switch. Now I just have to find more time! I tried the secret of mana remake on PS4 but I did not like the artstyle, also something on the gameplay side put me off. It just didn't feel right. I'm hoping the version on the collection is better.
As much as I love 16bit style "love letters to classic JRPG's" I'm glad someone does things differently. Still, I don't like this artstyle so I think it's a pass for me.
A new golden sun would be awesome! Also, i have quite good menories playing Pokémon pinball. Never really tried advance wars but now would be the perfect time. But you missed some: -Wario land. We need wario land -Pokémon TGC. If pinball, then a card game too -Mario RPG / Paper Mario, collab with squeenix for that -Diddy kong racing with that oh so nice story mode. To compete with CTR.
@Shambo I guess I did not read that part well enough. But as my defence, I have played many games with androgynous characters I think I subconsciously thought it was the case here. If one wants to think something is politically incorrect, these days it can be so. Not sure if that's a good thing or not. But, may the protagonist be whatever the creator want's it to be, it doesn't make me like or dislike the game more. And same goes in real life, if a person is cool, the gender/genderness doesn't really matter to me.
Bugs me when the person telling about the game adds an extra, uh an umm after every third word. The game looks cool tho. I like how they've added more content to unlock and make us want to keep playing. If you have to play the story mode with each character to unlock all their carts etc then it adds to the replay value quite much.
This looks super nice and I like the anime-y cel-shade. I just hope it has some decent story and the gameplay is top notch. I'm definitely interested but I'll wait for some reviews and make my judgement then. Also, I hope it's not a 7,99 budget indie title. Those kind of games usually have something putting me off in the gameplay department.
@SalvorHardin I got the same vibe too and I hope it's not the case. I liked the DS zeldas but somehow oceanhorn's gameplay turned me off and I never finished the game.
This could have been something but those diorama-esque levels that float in some blackness does not convince me the same way early resident evil and silent hill games did. Also, the graphics look like uglified versions of those we saw on PS1.
