Do you ever feel in the mood to play an RPG but just don't have the time or knowhow? Well, it looks like Archlion Saga is the game for you.
In a slightly strange but actually understandable concept, Kemco's 'pocket-sized RPG' series is made up of "easily completable" titles that only take a handful of hours to beat and guide you along the way. Archlion Saga is the first of this series, sending players off on a super-simplified adventure which makes sure you'll have the time to see it through to the end.
Here's a quick description:
No more walkthroughs! Only a comfortable adventure! By following the guide that shows the way, you won't get stuck or be lost anymore! Level up and get new weapons and skills easily. Short, but adequate, all for the sake to taste the delight to finish the game at the peak of your excitement! The game itself will support your adventure warmly and enjoyably.
The game's launching on Switch next week on 18th July. Standard pricing is $4.99 / £4.49, but you can go ahead and pre-purchase it at 30% off for a limited time ahead of launch.
What do you think? Do you have the time for a full-fat RPG, or does this actually sound like a decent idea? Share your thoughts with us below.

I think you have an error here, headline says "this week" but article next week.
Why don't you just sit there and watch someone else play through a good game instead of this?
heard very mixed reviews of this, has anyone played it? i wondered how long this short adventure is. I quite like the look of it, looks much better than the usual cookie cutter paint by numbers that kemco normally releases
It's Kemco so instant pass. Even if they eventually release something good, I'll be reluctant to support it because I don't want them to get the idea that I want them to keep pumping out their garbage every few weeks.
Well, it's available for free on Android so I may shoot for that instead. It gets reasonably decent reviews - most complaints are that it's too easy or too short, which seems to be the point. I don't mind a short/easy RPG. I'm more likely to finish those, even though I like the depth of story behind the larger worlds.
The problem I have is that I start playing those larger games, then don't have time to get back to it for a long while. At that point, I've forgotten some of the "how tos" or what I was supposed to be doing.
All the same with Kemco.... made from RPG maker. Well you love it or hate
Kemco gets way too much exposure here. Instapass
They lost me at "Arch Lion King".... WTF at least try to be original.
Game looks good despite it's gimmick.
The idea of a short, simple RPG is good but to have a sign pointing where you need to go all the time? I thought that was what let's plays were for?
If you're really vying for a shorter and somewhat simpler RPG, you're probably much better off paying a little over twice as much for West of Loathing...
Wasn't this the idea behind the first Final Fantasy that made it to Europe? I think I remember that not being very good
I’ve always wanted to give turn-based RPGs a shot, but it seems like there isn’t a very good starting point to learn how to actually play them. I’m talking about a game that teaches you the ins-and-outs of how and why the games work like they do. I tried Earthbound a few years ago but ended up just using “auto” but because a lot of it just didn’t make much sense to someone who basically exclusively played action RPGs and platformers while growing up (30+ years ago).
Kemco... Pass. I'd rather see Mystic Quest as a beginner RPG for people to play.
Let's play Shadows of Adam instead. That's a great game (with no arrows showing you the way)
There was another short RPG reviewed on here recently that looked much better than this. I forget the name. The idea of short RPGs appeals to me as job and family life doesn't leave time for too many 80 hour epics. I don't have much faith in Kemco though, so won't be grabbing this one.
Edit: It was Shadows of Adam (mentioned above) that I was thinking of.
Makes me remember the good times I had with Guadia Quest.
@BionicDodo maybe it was Shadows Of Adam that Deacon just mentioned above? I’ve been thinking about picking it up for the very same reason...12-16hrs is perfect for me these days. btw Adam is on sale right now- tempting!
@neogyo Indeed it was. That post appeared while I was typing my message. I agree on the length being perfect. I used to love the Ys games as they were great fun action RPGs at a fairly short length. The newer games are much longer and they take me AGES to finish!
If Shadow of Adam is on sale then I shall pick it up. Thanks!
At last, someone has made a spiritual successor to Final Fantasy Mystic Quest.
Looks interesting but just seen it’s free on iOS so I’ll save my money.
@BionicDodo right on! Yea it’s tough bc I really want to play Fire Emblem and Dragon Quest XI but not sure I got the time. Though I did somehow manage to sink 80hrs into Octopath;)
hand holding jrpg? pass
So this is Kemco's version of FF Mystic Quest?
