I'll definitely download the demo. I'm not bothered by the art style if the game is fun to play.

I'm struggling to find suggestions that haven't been mentioned already. Zelda Windwaker and Twilight Princess as well as Yoshi are fantastic, and Xenoblade X is completely engrossing. You should at least try Star Fox Zero and Guard. Outside of those, I would probably recommend Deus Ex, Mass Effect 3, Splinter Cell, and Black Ops 2. Plus there's always the novelty of playing Madden on a Nintendo system - granted it's also 10 years old, and the guy on the cover has since retired, but hey, it's something.

Pretty good list. Only things I would add would be the NBA 2K games and MLB the Show, and maybe Star Wars Racer.

I might be interested if the cloud version on Switch actually worked well. I've played cloud versions of games on my phone and PC that work well (enough). I haven't played one cloud version of a game on the Switch that hasn't had serious, gameplay-breaking issues. Cloud versions of games on the Switch will always be a no for me until the implementation on Switch is improved.

I remember buying Rogue Leader at Sears for $20. Other than that purchase, Sears was only for buying clothes and getting the car fixed.

@JeanPaul The spaghetti western version that plays in the cat town is also excellent.

It's hard to pick just one, but I pick the Hyrule field theme from Zelda Twilight Princess, particularly the instrumentation when you're on horseback.

My Joycons also didn't need to update, but I will try to update the Pro Controllers later today.

I'm with Team Fun. The food and gear will come in time on an island, but I have to have my Switch with me! Plus, they've got Big Man, and they're green! There's only one choice for me.

This was the highlight of the Direct for me. It will be a long 8 months, but I will definitely be looking forward to this one. Fortunately with Splatoon 3, Xenoblade 3, and Octopath Traveler II, I'll have plenty to keep me occupied between now and then.

Not sure if this was anyone else’s experience, but after my son scanned them for his save file, I couldn’t get the free gear on my save file. Only one user per system, maybe? Did this happen to anyone else?

The yen is historically low in value compared to USD right now (lowest in 20-something years), so that explains why Japan's prices are so much lower in these tables. It's not necessarily because Nintendo doesn't like money in Japan.

Splatoon 3 is downloaded and ready to go tomorrow.

On one hand, I'm happy to hear about the removal. On the other hand, we've yet to see exactly how many rubies it's going to be to get that one driver you really want. The Mii racing suits already run 100 rubies - at the moment if you boot up the game shop, you can purchase 93 rubies for $49.99. It'll be interesting to see if the Spotlight Shop items are priced the same way. If they are, I'm not sure this is actually a change for the better.

I welcome any and all Zelda-related updates. Everything else is icing.

I'm a boomer. I've been around since the beginning. The original Legend of Zelda was one of the reasons I wanted an NES.

Having the re-releases in-between these releases has definitely helped. I enjoyed playing through Wind Waker and Twilight Princess again in HD while waiting for Breath of the Wild to come. Having the wealth of options the Switch has for quality gaming makes the wait feel a lot shorter.

I'm saddened to hear this, but hopefully having this come to light will bring some positive change in the work environment there.

I honestly thought this project had been cancelled. I don't know how long Squadron 51 has been on my wishlist. Looking forward to it!

I appreciate the honest opinion on this wave. I haven't had a chance to try these out myself, but I imagine we're all so starved for new content in this game that anything new is going to be OMG THE BEST EVAR! The ultimate measuring sticks for these tracks will be their lasting power - how much are you going to want to race on these tracks after you've been through them a few times and they're not "new" any more? How do they stack up against the content that's already in MK8? This review tells me that they're okay, not great. And that's okay. I'll see for myself when I get home and try them out.

I definitely want to play these games. I just have to buy them first.

I can say that for several games I have on my wish list. I guess instead of a backlog I have a "broke-log."

If we're talking first video game ever played, I think it was Pac-Man at the local pizza place. If we're talking first video game owned, it's Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt.

I'd love to see sales figures on the Kingdom Hearts games on the Switch. It just seems like a money-losing proposition to me. Who's going to buy this?

The original Legend of Zelda had a dungeon with a "dead end" room. (I use the quotations because it wasn't really a dead end room, it just looked like one.) I remember being frustrated beyond belief by that dungeon. I had to turn off the game and go climb a tree by myself for a while.

Sometimes leaving a game for a while is the best way to figure it out.

Dead game. I've started playing along with my son, and it's a very fun game.

Lots of good stuff there. I enjoyed the Direct overall, and that is definitely an expensive graphic (for me, anyway).

Light on Switch content, but that's okay. That's what we expected, right? Remember the Wii U days when Nintendo wasn't mentioned at all?

And for me, the Midnight Suns situation is interesting. They could easily make this a cloud version on Switch like Guardians of the Galaxy, but they remove any mention of a Switch version altogether instead. Does this mean fewer cloud versions of games on the Switch? Can we say the people have spoken with their wallets yet?

My son has turned me on to games I wouldn't have normally tried out. I've been playing Fortnite quite a bit lately. Never would've tried that if I didn't have him to play it with.

I mean, I don't have anything nice to say about this topic or these games, so...

NA was my choice for this one, but I think it's cool that the JP version actually says it's "role-playing" and has "battery backup" on the cover. I wish the NA covers for SNES games did that.

Fornite? As in, you only play the game for one night?

Almost all of my launch purchases have been sure-fire hits, so the only one that went kind of sour for me was Star Fox Zero. Not that it was a bad game, and I did play through it and Guard several times before I moved on to something else, but I didn't end up liking it as much as I thought it would. The controls and two-screen setup never really clicked for me, and I felt like I was fighting the system more than the game most of the time. The reviews and popular opinion tried to warn me, but it was the Wii U. We were hurting for new, potentially thrilling software. Oh well, lesson learned.

@Realness Replace boxing with swordplay, and that's exactly how I felt about it. Especially the single-player journey mode where you could go full-on Musou with the Wii Remote. That's my best memory from that game.

I remember Octo Expansion being very challenging, so if you’re looking for a tough single-player experience, you can definitely lose yourself in that mode. Plus the endgame for it and being able to play Turf Wars as an Octoling are pretty great. The endgame is right on par with the endgame for Octo Canyon in terms of enjoyment and fun.

Konami as a name really only means something to me because of games they made 25-30 years ago. My son wouldn't have a clue who Konami is.

I just finished Wolfenstein 2, and that was a fantastic game, and as far as I can tell there aren't any co-op or multiplayer options for it either.

Silly coincidence that I'm sure means nothing, but you can rearrange the letters in the name "Isulgi" to spell "Luigis." I wonder if Isulgi gives you a death stare or is afraid of ghosts.

This was one of those games I owned for the PS1, but never got around to actually playing because I was stuck trying to figure out how to finish FF8. I'm looking forward to seeing what all the fuss is about.
