Can't wait! My only worry is for online play: everyone will probably use the exact same character with the exact same combo of arms after everyone figures out what consistently wins matches.
Maybe they're doing a Disney VHS kind of strategy? In the days of VHS (and even DVD), Disney would a release a film for several months then throw it in a vault for a few years before releasing it again. I can see them re-releasing the NES Classic when they're having a slow quarter.
Before I saw that it was also coming out under the same name on Xbox One and PS4, this story raised my alarm: I don't like it when third party developers make "kid-friendly" versions of their titles for Nintendo hardware. It's good to see that this game isn't doing that. (I loved NBA Jam).
I'm terrified the patch will deal with the amiibo time resetting cheat. I scan my zelda amiibos for several hours every few days. It's nice having 999 arrows all the time....
I actually went into a Gamestop today because on their website, it simply says, "Order from our next shipment in-store today. While supplies last!" Then when I got there, I found out that you had to get the entire bundle and not just the console. Umm...I wish I knew that before wasted my time going into their store.
I love this and I want to get this game! Come on Nintendo! Man up and proudly call the switch a portable system! I think it will drive up sales--not hurt it.
My biggest fear is it's some crazy subscription / pricing scheme that they have in mind. Don't go there Nintendo! Look at the huge success Sony had with their PlayNow Pay-by-the-hour setup they had on the PS4 to play PS3 titles...
I hope we don't have a situation where every major 3DS release is mirrored on the Switch. Like how we have Mario Maker or Smash Brothers on the Wii U then we got a 3DS version down the line. Maybe they will release games this way until there's enough Switch users out there? Then we won't get these obvious "We're not abandoning 3DS development" quotes. I would like to see Nintendo's games fully realized on the Switch.
I despise randomly not receiving EXP. When you choose an enemy unit, they should show how much EXP you'll get for it...a "You're not getting sh*t for this move" indicator
True gamers don't need the Apps but they should put it in there for the casual buyers. They need any help in pushing the system and those apps add value to it. More people adopting the system is always a good thing.
Ugh I want this but I wish there was an option for it on the Switch. Since I plan on getting the Switch, it's tough to justify spending anything on the 3DS
I got an Apple Series 2 watch for the Nike + Running App and Pokemon Go (I already have a Go Plus). At this stage, I barely use my Plus and it doesn't matter to me if Niantic releases the watch app at all. All of those months of waiting for a proper tracker and seeing Niantic take down fun sites and elements has had its toll. Plus, I've had much more fun getting a 100% Alolan Pokedex in Sun. I still smile when I look back at how much fun Go was at the start. I'm more excited for what Game Freak announces next.
I'm loving the success of the mini NES....all of the hype around the PS4 Pro (which I'm getting) and the need for crazier graphics--and it's this little box that shoppers are going nuts over! I have friends on my FB feed dying to get it for their kids! I hope it's this year's Tickle Me Elmo.
I think Niantic is too focused on making us play the game a certain way by shutting down tracking sights when we have had no option to track anything. It was so much fun when the mapping sites were around--my friends would spot a rare Pokemon on the map and we would contact each other about it and there would be a fun mad dash to catch it. Now nobody plays it after we lost that type of gameplay. Niantic would rather have us wander aimlessly in the dark until we run into anything decent to catch--but why should they bother? Didn't they make 200 million during the Halloween event?
I haven't played the first game but I've very interested to give the series a shot. I wouldn't mind playing the first game before this sequel. Are there elements/characters introduced in the first game that warrant a play-through of it before hitting this sequel?
...and there's no mention of fixing the tracking! Seriously, it's the one feature we need fixed to make this game actually work. It's getting colder now and without proper tracking, it's not going to be fun wandering aimlessly just to find anything worth catching.
The cynic in me believes that they're not really in a rush to fix the tracking. Maybe they don't mind losing over 50% of the player base since they'll still turn a healthy profit with what remains. I feel Nintendo made a big mistake turning their IP over to an incompetent company that clearly can't handle such a massive project.
As a player from day 1, I had to turn to Pokevision since it was frustrating not having any tools in the game to track Pokemon down. It was great when it worked at the start. Now it's very frustrating seeing something that you want in the list and knowing that a few weeks ago, it was possible to get it by using the game's tools. Ok...off to the app store to give the app another 1 star rating.
I'm willing to bet that Zelda Wii U will be moved to the NX. Releasing two versions is crazy if they're hoping to get people to jump to the NX.The Wii U is dead! Ditch it Nintendo and move on!
I'm terrified that third parties will see the next Nintendo as a platform to dump kid oriented/family games. Even though the original Wii was a huge success, it seemed like third parties only released kid-oriented games. Even Square held back their regular RPGs in favor of the cutesy Crystal chronicle games. Give us the same games that the other two consoles get and the NX will thrive.
I felt burned by the lack of games on the original Wii--yes the first party games that Nintendo gave us were amazing but the huge gaps between releases meant my Wii gathered dust. I just can't get myself to have that happen again by getting a Wii U just for a few games. On the other hand, I find myself stuck with many unfinished PS4 games since there's been so many releases in the short amount of time that I've had one since October. By the time Nintendo gets the next Zelda out, all of their possible new adopters, like me, will have moved on via the PS4 and Xbox One. You need to work on third party support, Nintendo!
My gut feeling is that it's not coming out for the Wii U at all....a new Zelda would be the ultimate launch title for their new system! I hope Nintendo has learned that gamers really want the best possible specs for their consoles at launch. I'm betting that Nintendo will pack the NX with enough power to exceed the PS4 so third party publishers won't have to avoid it. Zelda would be the ace in the hole at launch!
I got a sinking feeling in my stomach when I realized: we'll probably have to buy our favorite titles AGAIN when NX gets released... "Coming soon, Majora's Mask Remastered for NX !...."
I bought into Sony's version of this when the Vita first came out--they touted games that would have versions for the PS3 and the Vita under one purchase. I haven't turned on my Vita since November. Of 2013.
Looking forward to this--I even had some Phantasy Star Online memories pop up! Those textures are looking pretty bad, though--I wish they could add an option in games where turning off the 3D will make some of the graphics better.
"I'd love to get to a point where we have marketing channels where we can promote direct communication with the community, where people comment on stuff and Nintendo can communicate back. That's my dream."
Total marketspeak. We screamed loud and clear for the second analog stick when the 3DSXL was first launching. Nintendo will always dictate their own decisions irregardless of what many of us scream for. Thank God we put up with this so we can play their first party games.
Can't wait! Of course they're going to use the language "definite version"! They're main goal is to make money. If they announced a Wii U. version for the Holidays, that might make some people hold out from buying the 3DSXL version. I'm not counting on a Wii U. version, but if it makes them money, of course they're going to release one.
I love my 3DSXL (and I've ordered the new one) but regarding the Wii U., I really wanted one at launch but I couldn't justify it to play the 2D Mario games AGAIN. I wished for a new Zelda or a deeper Mario game but in the next wave, the HD Wind Waker and the simple Super Mario 3D wasn't enough to grab me. This year I opted for a PS4 since the new Mario Kart and Smash didn't seem as new and exciting as some of the newer console releases. I'm enjoying my PS4 every day now since there are many games that I can play and discover. I can't afford to buy a machine and then just wait until the Holidays for the big titles to come out. My dream move for Nintendo: Announce the new Zelda for the Wii U. AND a new machine. They can cut their losses with the Wii U and start fresh with a machine that surpasses the competition. (Make the new machine backwards compatible?)
I'm overjoyed but sad that we have to wait until next year. I don't plan on buying ANY of the new consoles (including the Wii U) this year. I have a feeling they're holding it back so they can convince more people to buy a Wii U or if they haven't yet, get the current 3DS/3DSXL. They should have launched it in the US at the same time.
It really bothers me that there aren't that many remasters. Sony did a remaster of Last of Us in one year. We're probably not going to get a Metroid or Galaxy remaster years from now. My dream would be if they showed us that they were going to remaster nearly ALL of their big titles down the line (even if it means the announced release is 2-3 years from now). Better to be comforted in knowing that they're going to happen than to be given only one remaster at a time.
