We're now less than two months away from the arrival of Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, the portable re-release of the massive Wii RPG. It'll include support for the Shulk amiibo to unlock in-game extras, but most importantly it could be a hugely impressive experience to play through the adventure and its substantial world on the go.
Now that the dust has settled on the launch of the New Nintendo 3DS and XL - for which this game will be the first exclusive - we can expect Nintendo to up its game in marketing Monolith Soft's adventure; below, almost as an appetiser, is a new extended trailer from Japan. While some previous trailers have focused on cutscenes, this includes a bit more in-game footage, with battles notably running relatively smoothly after the clunky initial footage last year.
Check it out below and let us know what you think.

Looking smooth! I just wish U.S. could get a sweet soundtrack bonus too
This game is what will make me buy a New 3DS.
"we can expect Nintendo to up its game in marketing"
Well, NoA could hardly do worse than they have with MH4U. Doesn't look like they will be releasing the MH 3DS theme even though they announced they would. Now customer service seems to have no idea what people are talking about when we ask about it.
Did you guys notice the amiibo logo at 2:36? Yipee! More compatibility!
@SebPlays yeah, if you scan Shulk in, you unlock some extra 3D Models in the Gallery and soundtracks in the music player. No idea if the rest of the range will work with it though....
I didn't realize that it was so close!
Man, those textures really aren't looking too hot, are they? Still, props to the developers for squeezing it into the 3DS! That must've taken a lot of work!
the game is unbelievably cheap compared to other 3ds titles! less than 20pounds... must buy! Got time till April to polish up my Japanese Also, I've got a feeling the price will be much higher in the west...
I think Nintendo should have brought that blue XL in the US instead of the red one. That thing is sexy.
Monster Hunter is all that my 3ds needs. This game is shaping up nicely but I will hold off until X
Quietly sitting and reading a book on the hype train.
Spoiler Alert! Wow! Lots of spoilers in that trailer.
Spoilers: Anyway, hoped they fixed the voice clips (mid-battle) for the faced mechon in this version. I could never understand what they were saying on the wii.
I wonder... The armor and weapons in the wii version actually changes the appearance of the characters. In the trailer they still have the same looks as the gear that you have from the start, even in 'late game' sequences they showed. Did they removed that neat touch for this version?
SO Glad this is coming so soon.
Looking forward to this--I even had some Phantasy Star Online memories pop up! Those textures are looking pretty bad, though--I wish they could add an option in games where turning off the 3D will make some of the graphics better.
Not a huge fan… if it looked better graphic-wise maybe I'd be convinced to pick it up. I feel like MM3D, this, and Monster Hunter 4 all look like they're from 2011. I'm a huge Zelda fan so I'll pick MM3D up, but I feel like I'm playing a dummed- down version of Ocarina of Time in Monster Hunter, which is really saying something.
Looks like a decent port, but I already beat the game. I highly, highly recommend it to any JRPG fan who has yet to play it. Heck, I recommend anyone who hasn't played it yet to play it!
@Angelic_Lapras_King oh cool. I didn't know that. Thanks for telling me.
I am so stoked about this one and I'm holding out on my new 3DS so I can the bundle Oh please Nintendo gods give me a Xenoblade bundle. I would be so content and happy.
@meltendo Ya do know the game is probably compressed onto a 2GB SD card and the screens are that small you won't notice anyway...
