@charlieonholiday ehh it was originally a Wii game and was released on 3DS. That's probably already the biggest Nintendo audience you possibly could reach so I would say instead, that this release will bring the game to a whole new generation of gamers!
@ss213 yeah, I really like how he addresses the fans that they should behave if they wish to have this open communication in the future. Criticism is ok, as long as it is healthy and reasonable. But it sounds like they were kind of threatening the id soft sound engineer. I really hate what people try to pull in the shadows not the internet, hiding behind an avatar...
@Roam85 I actually stopped watching after the arc where these really old and strong dragons come through this portal thing. Did it get worse after that?
@jcvandan you will have the cut scenes in XC 1 also, but the story is never creepy. In the original release was a creepy "thing" as you have different armors for your characters. One type armor is actually quite "sexy", but one of the female characters is obviously underage, if not pre-teen. Still you could equipt it to her. But this was changed in the western release and was totally optional anyway.
@jcvandan Actually, I didn't really pay attention to this. Just yesterday I plugged in my Wii and strated XC1 to see the intro. To be honest, comparing XC2 to the graphics we got on Wii is not really fair. If you see it really side by side, it's world's between them. Sure, we are not talking Xbox1, PS4 or PC graphics here, but overall XC2 is quite beautiful! The story on the other hand is really a little bit, let's say, creepy. XC had a more mature story and not so many akward situations. I mean Rex basically looks like 13 years old and having daydreams about really having a relationship and household with 2 women...
@jcvandan are you referring to XCX Or XC2? If for the latter, what exactly did you not like about it technically? Overall I like XC also better then XC2, but they are both epic games
@fafonio Thanks, I will! My experience with the English dubs of JRPGs is not the best... For FFX they even changed the content of the dialogue, so the subtitles and dub didn't match...
@retro_player_77 Kickstarter was basically just for advertising. There was an article some time ago, that the project itself was already realized way before the Kickstarter. Also, if you check the timeline from the start of the campaign to publishing. That's way too short of they really needed that Kickstarter money. So basically the remaster was done at the point of the Kickstarter campaign and it actually was just PR plus a way to give people awesome Limited Editions without fighting for them in retail shops or paying ridiculous money on ebay
@thesilverbrick I'm totally with you and also disappointed. But after letting it set for one day and a little thinking, I came to some conclusions: The official retail might be not even made in Japan, or if they are made there, they can be distributed through a big distribution center. The backers versions will be packed individually either by Platinum themselves or a small agency they hired. As Platinum is also on shutdown until May (and who knows if this was the last shutdown) it has a huge impact on the packing and sending. Also, according to a statement from Platinum, the Kickstarter was not necessary to realize the project, it was more a fan service and PR to promote and publish Limited Editions. So we backers are not the ones who made Wonderful 101 remaster possible, unfortunately. I was also thinking, why they not give out codes for downloads for the relevant systems. My personal conclusion is, that a steam code has the lowest resell value. If they would give me an eshop code, I probably just would sell it because I have a huge backlog anyway and can wait until June/July. Anyway, I wish they would find a way, like giving out codes for a "limited time 100% demo" so the people who want to play it can do so. Also, maybe the game itself is not capable of handling several versions on one system in regards of save games. Who knows? But then again, how can I get my save from steam to my switch? Kind of useless... Anyway, better then nothing and health comes first!
I wonder why they are not giving out codes for the related systems of the backers. Steam is more or less useless for me, why not give us an eshop code? But I guess that's live. Probably would be a good idea to just delay the whole game so backers would not feel so bad.
@Omedru You could also change the names in the German version, but it was more like Final Fantasy that they had pre determined names and you could change them if you like
@JR150 ok, maybe it's just because it's from 3d to 3d and not 2d to 3d like Links Awakening or trials of Mana Especially for Trials, the devs more or less had to rebuild the whole game and push it to a new size, for XC it's "just" porting to a new engine, which of course is also a huge workload!!
@Ralizah yeah sure, I agree just wanted to mention that the connection is on a very high level, therefore it's not needed to play the games in a certain order
@JR150 I wouldn't go that far Trials of Mana is a remake of a 2d game in 3d, here its "just" a remaster... But it will be great! Collectors Edition on Pre order 😎
@Ralizah woah... The plot connections are really thin and only there if you want to see them. It's basically the same connection every Xeno game has, which can be real or just devs messing with fans
@Omedru By the way, I just checked the game again, and in the German Translation "Popoi" is called "Koboldmädchen" which would translate to elf girl... I knew it was somehow obvious for me as a little boy And Primm is just called "Mädchen" (Girl) if you don´t rename her... So we have "Junge" (Boy), "Mädchen" (Girl) and "Koboldmädchen" (Elf Girl) in the German Version. Ver creative
They say "Partly like its 1995" but make it 8-bit... Come on, 1995 is minimum 16 Bit and with the release of the Palystation already 32-Bit... Shame they chose 8bit... I want a nice brawler like Turtles in Time or Battletoads in Battlemaniac.
@Omedru damn, I know that problem with the hidden switches. Luckily, a friend had the version with a game guide included, so after a few days I "found" the solution in the game guide Awesome game, especially with 2-3 players. So much fun!
@Omedru non taken you know, for a 7 year old boy (first time I played the game) the concept of genderless is a little tricky. So since I first played the game, it was always a girl, I decided together with my big brother. Somehow the behavior fits as well to a "she", at least in the German translation
Very nice! But the two girls turned out a little... manly! The princess looks like Link and the elf like a grandma ! Beside that, awesome, more please!
@NathanTheAsian That's your rightful opinion! For me, it's far away from being a standard fighting game, especially because of the controls I also don't think that they tried to be Smash in any way... I guess the purpose was to have a game at launch that makes use of the motion controls. But beside the fact that you like it or not, you definitely should support Nintendo's effort to deliver unique gaming experience. For sure, not every attempt will be your cup of tea (don't throw stones at me, but I don't like either Smash nor animal crossing )
@Jfarriol Thank God they were not! It's a great game and far away from the standard fighting game formular! I spent several weeks of fun playing this alone, co-op and online! I always played with motion controls
If any of those who are complain ing against China and want to support a change over there, seriously stop buying products made in China. If not, your statements are just hollow phrases and a punch in the face of any protesters who risk their lives. Like some here already mentioned, China's power because of production is so big, that other nations just release statements against China with no real consequences. Even "big" Trump is a dwarf against the economic power. As long as China keeps getting richer, the people will dare to bring this government to fall, because the majority of people benefits from this system.
@carlos82 There could be plenty of reasons: -they have a production schedule for the cartridge, which they would not catch if the want to finish the patch first -initially it was a "code in a box" release. Due to the customer complaints, they changed theit idea --> initially they could work on the patch basically until one day before release. This combined with the first point will make it impossible to put it on the catridge -limited space, as we don´t know the exact download volume, yet
@TheWingedAvenger I just read my answer to you again and probably it will be confusing, so I want to clear it up a little Trials of Mana has no Chocobos but other means of travel. Later, you can travel the map freely, just not "walk" on it like FF, but landing on certain spots will trhow you in the levels, where you can walk and fight in real time. These spaces are limited and not completly connected. So it´s devided in different areas like dessert, snow, woods and so on and these areas are not connected, so you can only travel between them with different means of transportations, but not on foot. I guess most FF Games are similar, you will hit a boundarie and then need some vehicle or so to pass it.
Maybe you check some videos of the SNES Version. And to be honest, I don´t know if they keep all of this what I just wrote ind the remake... We will see. Search Youtube for Seiken Densetsu 3, that´s the original game.
@Averagewriter Beside that, I always hope for publishers to create new and great IPs! On the other hand I really like it if they have the resources to bring the past back to life, especially for a game that wasn't available to the western audience for many years. Also, the old games (NES and SNES) most likely not appeal to everyone, so I really support them bringing them back in a modern fashion. Looks like thia time they did a decent job. I didn't have the chance to play the Secret of Mana remake, but sounds like the ruined it. So I have high hopes for this one
@TheWingedAvenger Ok, so if FF Games are open world to you, then Trials of Mana will also be sort of. There is a point in the game were you can travel the map freely and go to every place you wish. Sometimes a magic barrier will block your way as you still don't have the right magic, but same can happen in "normal" open world games. Also, the in the main part of the game you can choose the order of fulfilling you quest. There is no strict order in the later game. Coming back to your FF comparison: You will not be able to walk on the map, but personally, this kind of game wouldn't be open world to me. BotW or Witcher 3 is, but FF not. The game limits were you go by your means of travel. Until you have the Airahips or Chocobos you can basically just follow a linear path.
@TheWingedAvenger If I think about all of the Square Enix games I played, I think not a single one is a typical open world RPG, so I cannot really understand why you think a more or less linear RPG is lazy? All the FF games have brilliant story Telling and it's like a 100 hours long movie. Talking about Octopath: Compared to other SE games the world is quite open. You can explore the whole map if you can skip the encounters. The limit is your Level. Isn't that what open world is about? You can go,.if you want, but don't cry if the enemies are too strong!
@Kalmaro I don't exactly remember who of Nintendo said it, but they made a clear statemt some time ago that there target is to have multi-switch households. Like a classic handheld (we had 4 Gameboys around that time). So with this, they are pushing it, I guess...
@mesome713 But you realise that retro gaming has a hugr market? Look at Zelda Links Awakening. I don't think it sold poorly just because it took the Game Boy Game Design and translated it to a modern style. It was still in no way as amazing as BotW, but still million people enjoyed it. Time will tell how many people care about your point and how many will just enjoy a nice game. There is no point in further discussion because you have your own, valid opinion and others have theirs.
@TheWingedAvenger What do you mean with "Square Enix has become extremely lazy"? This is a remake of a Super SNES game from 25 years ago. How could they change it to an open world Action RPG without killing the original concept?
@mesome713 Don't forget that this is a remake of a 90's game and they keep the original design (thank god!). If they would dare to change it to any "new" art styles that are used these days, people would really get upset. Keep in mind that the taste of the audience and the artists changed so over the past 20-30 years. So comparing it to todays games is valid, as it is a "new" game, but on the other hand it's not quite possible because of different styles and mind sets then and today. Just my 2 cents!
I hope they will bring something entirely new, so we can get several awesome IPs in the future, just like Platinum did with Astral Chain! With this team size they should be able to handle to full projects which can benefit from each other (e.g. engine).
@Archius9 Sorry, your Witcher 3 example is not really true. Potions and oils are one of the Witchers abilities as he will not die drinking the potions. But it's not mandatory. You can fight any enemy without using them. In fact, they give you the option to face higher level enemies, but that is totally your decision. No.one forces you to change your play style. Sure, sometimes you need to use certain magic to open up a path, but if that's bothering you...
I think that´s a good idea, because the battle system is a little different and some would say that Blade 2 has the superior system. So it might be that, if you start with Blade 2 and then play Blade 1, it feels like a step back. For me personally that´s not the case because the battle systems differ enough already in the basics that it doesn´t really matter Take your time and Enjoy, you can easily spend 200+ hours with both together!
@gavvybiggs I heard they have some connection on a "higher level" regarding some characters. I only played Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 2 and they are stand alone games story-wise. So you can just start with 2 and play 1 later without any spoilers!
@Mynameishello I think you see the battle system from a completely wrong perspective! For both, 1 and 2! Actually, the auto fight makes the whole atmosphere more dynamic instead of static like a classic final fantasy. You can see the auto fight as a way to fill up your attack gauge. If you just auto fight you have no chance against higher lvl enemies. The auto fight just enables you to either start your special attack (1) or start a chain (2). Once you get the grip of the system it's really cool because you need to equipt the right abilities (1) or the right sword (2) to get most out of it!

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition Appears On The European Switch eShop

@rushiosan The article states 18th of March, so would be strange if it's already up today...

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition Appears On The European Switch eShop
@gavvybiggs I heard they have some connection on a "higher level" regarding some characters. I only played Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 2 and they are stand alone games story-wise. So you can just start with 2 and play 1 later without any spoilers!
Re: Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition Appears On The European Switch eShop
