Re: NieR:Automata For Switch Handled By Nintendo Port Specialist Virtuos

mazzel

@Bizzyb they sure do, my comment was specifically regarding your "toolkit" assumption. I was specifically thinking, that platinum did not do any real port so far, so their knowledge regarding porting a PS4 game to Switch is limited.

other support, also as a consultant or creative support is definitely possible and likely happened. let's see about the final product!

Re: NieR:Automata For Switch Handled By Nintendo Port Specialist Virtuos

mazzel

@Bizzyb Just my guess, but I don't think Platinum had much to share here.
Bayo1/2 were already on WiiU and probably not that difficult to port. There are probably similarities between the Nintendo Systems.
And astral chain was developed for Switch afaik, it's not a port.
But that's just my guess/conclusion, no proof at all
I also think they are busy with Bayo3 and are probably not capable porting a PS4 game to Switch...

Re: Monkey Island's Creator Seemingly Shuts Down Blog After Personal Attacks

@nocdaes sharing development progress is a nice service for fans. it's not mandatory. why would he spent his free time on something, if in the end he needs more time to delete hate comments because they were really lowest level, insulting and shouldn't be read by younger fans. disabling the comments would shift the problem elsewhere. and I assume the idea behind the blog was to have some exchange on the development progress with the fans, which would not be possible with disabled comments and would kill the whole purpose of the blog...

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 To Get An Expansion Pass Including New Story Content

mazzel

@Silly_G if the internet was ready that big 30 years ago, less companies would have released expansion packs on disc, so it's not a too valid comparison. also, in this case, Monolith always released their expansion packs physical, Torna for example or the expansion of the first game is included in the definite edition. so chances are high that this one will get a physical release, too!

also,.there is no difference between a season pass and an expansion pack. it's called season pass because you get several rounds of content opposed to an expansion pack where you get all at once. just buy the season pass end of 2023 and treat it as an expansion pack in your mind and it's all good! everyone should enjoy the games their way 😎

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 To Get An Expansion Pass Including New Story Content

mazzel

@Silly_G Actually that time you mentioned never really existed. Dal a and Season passes were called "add -ons" before and are as old as video games are. Add ONS for Command and Conquer or Half Life are just two examples that come to my mind. Or even games like Sim City had add on discs you could buy.
In this case I think we can expect a lot of content if it is on the same level as Torna. And for Torna, it was not needed to make XBC2 a complete game, but it was a nice and welcome addition.
We are talking Monolith here and not Ubisoft/Assassin's Creed...

Re: Ocean's Heart Is A Cute Zelda-Inspired Adventure Destined For Switch

mazzel

I already got tricked by Oceanshorn and Blossom Tales. I won't get tricked a third time. While Blossom Tales was ok, Oceanshorn is total BS on Switch. It feels and plays like a mobile game, because it is a mobile game.
Therefore I will pass this one. Like someone already said: if you clone, clone on the same level or above the original!

Re: PlatinumGames To Host 'Hideki Kamiya's Very Sorry' Livestream For Sol Cresta

@Zochmenos probably it's exactly the opposite and it's one of the few studios where actually is fun. I really hope that for the employees.
After all these bad news about poor work environment at developers it would be nice to know there is a better place for employees somewhere out there, even if one their bosses is some kind of crazy Twitter jerk

Re: Poll: What Do You Think Of The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack Price?

mazzel

@Darkyoshi98 lol what? I'm a Nintendo Fan Boy and always argued for NSO with the price Tag of 19,90€ a year. But now doubling the price to 40€ I personally think that the value of e.g. PS+ or PS Now is much higher, tagged at 60€. You get new games and old games from their library, most importantly also AAA current gen titles, which Nintendo is far off from. If they would at least add the Wii U Remake Titles in the subscription, it would be worth 40€. Just emulated old games, with a lot of important titles still missing for SNES, it's hard to accept this price tag...

Re: Capcom Says It's Unable To Add Cross-Save And Cross-Play To Monster Hunter Rise

mazzel

It's possible for other games, so it's just a poor excuse. They knew from the beginning that people would love cross save, so implement it from the beginning and be happy about double dippers later. I planned to play it again on PC, but I'm not willing to start again.
Same issue with Witcher 3. It has cross save function to PC, but not PS5. I want to play it again when the PS5 update arrives, but not really want to start from scratch...

Re: Rumour: Could Monolith Soft's Website Be A Hint At A Xenoblade 3 Nintendo Direct?

mazzel

@HeadPirate following your argument porting XBCX actually would be their best use of time.
Story already written, so "only" porting needs to be done.
It will eventually sell more copies then XBC DE, as the possible audience was much smaller on Wii U.
Taking the sells of XBCDE into consideration, which is roughly 1.5 MiO copies by today and comparing it with XBC2 for example, the sales are really good. XBC2 sold roughly 2 MiO copies and is on the market since almost 4 years compared to XBCDE for only one year.

So I wonder why you think porting XBCX is a wast of time when the DE shows, that there is clearly a demand for these games.
I'm one of the people who never bought a WiiU, so I'm actually happy to get all these ports.

So, +1 do a XBCX Port, because XBC3 will come eventually anyway!

Re: Nintendo Fears A Popular ROM Website Could Make A Comeback

mazzel

@Heavyarms55 I agree with your argument to the point where these old games are paying anyone's money for living. I agree for new games which are still sold by Nintendo or are part of a subscription. But I also agree with the people who claim, that Nintendo is not loosing a single penny with rips of games which they don't sell.

Copyright protection is important and I understand Nintendo's point. But also, the game industry is one of the few media industries who fail to make their products available on newer platforms, Nintendo beeing the worst of the big three with the biggest backlog. Look at music or film. Everything (almost) available via streaming or on new media (DVD, BR, etc.). Sure, it's a lot of licensing which makes it probably impossible to make all games available. But Nintendo's own catalog would be a start.

You see, two hearts beating in my chest...
