Oh dear... seems Nintendo is in the doldrums, again! I know they'll come out the other end in great shape whatever route they take in the entertainment industry. Hopefully I'll be there to support them when they do and all the magic of Nintendo can continue for me as a life long fan.
It's typical that an offer like this only happens in America, where 'gas' is dirt cheap anyway (compared to UK), and Americans still whine about the cost. In UK we have mostly tax on our fuel, and of course no promotion like this, which would really help squeezed motorists like me.
Going on a 2 week trip, so no Wii U downloads for me. Getting Hometown Story on cartridge (why nobody vote for it?), and may get Mario Golf (cartridge) after that.
I may go for Twisted Fusion in the next couple of days. It's due for release in December, which is when SSB4 is due. So I don't know how it would play out gaming schedule wise (I don't like big back logs).
I can see a sales spike for the Wii U hardware, and perhaps a small increase in average monthly sales for a while, due to MK8. But the Wii U's situation is more serious than what 1 AAA game can do to turn it around. SSB4 won't be out until year's end, and a similar sales performance will repeat itself. Even 2 first party AAA titles (that we know of) about 6-7 months apart isn't going to have the much needed effect on the Wii U's sales compared to PS4 and X1, they're pumping out enough AAA 3rd party games to keep the needed momentum in sales up.
In the UK we have GAME, they have the same practises as GameStop. I never shop there as a result, I also live far away from my nearest shop so internet ordering is more convenient anyway. I also find the best deals online anyway, so I have no incentive what so ever to trek to a high street chain.
It's goodto hear positive news about the 3DS & Wii U download platforms. I've only played a couple of iOS games, I find the eShop games better quality and worth the extra cost.
I always enjoy the Ace Attorney games, I'm sure 6 will be no exception. I'm interested to know how the ancient Japan theme will localize, considering the amount of grammatical errors in the other games.
Happy 25th GameBoy! I only played home consoles back in the GameBoy era, but I tried friend's ones once in a while. Never liked Tetris, just not my cup of tea, but there are plenty of other classics I'd love to play one day.
Yes, and 2/3 of the way into development most of the ones I backed decided it would be financially better to split the game in half, and start selling the first half to non-backers before the backers had played it, even though some of them had 1.5 times the funding they needed.
I really am hesitant to use kickstarter anymore. I've only had 1 positive experience with it so far, and that game required the least funding out of the 3.
Another looser of a company that is desperate for money.
@Artwark
I don't know what case your referring to, but the 3DS has lost a case (can't remember about what) in the past, and Nintendo are having to pay a cut of sales to some company.
Well actually it was one other - Broken Sword 5. The other game that I backed, Moebius, strangely was the only one that didn't and it was the one that needed the least amount of funding of all three. Broken Age needed the most, incidentally.
I'll probably get shot down for this, but I don't like the way the 3 PC games I've backed have turned out. The developers claimed they ran out of money even though they had reached their goals up to 1.5 times over, so they split the full game and released it in 2 halves. To rub salt in the wound they then made the 1st part available to non-backers and began selling it before the full game was available to the backers. I don't mind them selling it to non-backers, but not before the backers have played the whole game, and not using it to fund the rest of the game so the backers can then play it.
I refuse to back any more until promises can be made that budgets will be properly made and adhered to, otherwise it's a joke of a way to develop a game, and joke of a way for a gamer to buy.
I was hoping there'd be some Star Wars games on Wii U or 3DS. I enjoyed Force Unleashed 1 & 2 on Wii, and was disappointed when 1313 was cancelled (albeit on PC).
Talk about evergreens (SM3DW), great game it deserves it. My only gripe with it is having to reach the goal pole with every character to 100% it. I'm a lone wolf, and doing this is very time consuming and it dampened my enthusiasm to 100% it.
Was hoping Scram Kitty would come out this week. Oh well, maybe next week. Got both VC games, already got Duck Tales (maybe shoud've waited for price drop though), getting Hobbit on disc and don't care for Batman.
I'm not happy with the 2 of the 3 kick-starters I have on PC. They're all point 'n' click adventure games, and I don't like having them split in 2 and released at different times, because of budget and time constraints. I would rather have the whole game to play at once. Another thing that annoys me, is when the games are sold to non backers, when the promise at the start was that the backers were the funders of the game. This is a bear face lie, and not what I was expecting.
I may continue to fund projects, but it would depend on what's being promised next time around, I will be more weary in future.
The reflection in the puddles is amazing. I don't know what it is about this video from all the rest I've seen, but I'm really seeing how good this game looks now! It seems to play very solidly swell, of course.
I'd be sad to see Iwata 'kicked out', I've built up some magical memories (mostly from the Wii era), over the recent past and I give him my 'Official Seal of (Nintendo) Approval for his tenure. Whoever, eventually, replaces him I just hope they steer the good ship Nintendo on the right course.
I've downloaded the DLC, but haven't tried it yet. So glad Sega is still supporting this game, and with FREE dlc too! Hope more comes, as someone already said, in the form of a Kirby zone.
"Just how stable can the Wii U get?", not stable enough for me that's what! I've been getting freeze's in nearly every game (about 14 of them) since launch day, and still it happens after 3 major updates, Nintendo get it sorted!
Even if it's an April Fool's Joke, I'm not taken in by the VR 'craze' that is sweeping other console manufacturer's. It's another '3D is cool' craze, and as you have witnessed with the 3DS it petered out and ultimately wasn't a selling factor. In the end it was the quality of the games, that eventually arrived, that sold the system.
I'm old enough to remember the VR craze of the early 90's, and I wasn't convinced then, it died out back then and I honestly don't think it's going to change the gaming world in any meaningful way now.
Passing up on this week. Tried super star saga before and didn't finish it, that's all that would interest me. Besides, I'm still playing Layton V Wright, and want to SMK Time Trial this week, so really busy otherwise.
I've spoken to you through the SMK website regarding using a PAL copy on a Super Famicom through an adapter. I've been busy with other games since, but will be giving it a serious attempt next week, and hopefully get a full set of times emailed by then. Thanks for your input, I'm sure I'll learn a thing or two about improving my technique in the near future.
I'm currently working on a full set of time trial's to upload to the SMK site. I don't possess the level of skill these guys have, they just put me to shame!
I have an app that lets me scan in an image or pattern and create a qr code to upload to Able Sisters' shop, for decorating furniture and clothes. So I'm open to further smartphone functionality and integration, I can only see that it would improve my experience, but I would only want to play the actual game on a Nintendo handheld.
Probably of no interest to me, don't play Renegade Kid games and I'm getting frustrated with Kickstarter and the way games are released in bits due to budgetary issues. Then being made available to non-backers simultaneously as a cash grab to fund the finishing of the project. What a joke!
