Professor Layton's adventures may be over, though the Layton brand will live on in some form, but last week brought a cross-over to Europe to give us all a little more of the puzzle-solving gentleman. He's joined by Capcom's favourite legal professional in Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, and it's had a solid if unspectacular opening in the UK charts.
The all-format result is perhaps a tad disappointing, with the excellent adventure making its entry in 15th place — that's a bit lower than the 12th place début enjoyed by Yoshi's New Island in mid-March. It is up against a number of multi-platform titles, however, and the single-format chart bucks the normal trend and fares far better for the 3DS title, with Layton and Phoenix Wright securing 6th place in those stakes.
Back to the all-format results, there are just three more Nintendo entries to consider, all on 3DS. Yoshi's New Island is showing decent momentum overall, dropping five places in its third week but still a relatively high 21st. Pokémon X & Y are still clinging on, meanwhile, with Y once again triumphing over X; the two are in 36th and 40th places respectively.
Not a bad début for the puzzle solving, case winning adventure on the 3DS; as with Yoshi's New Island, it'll be interesting to see how long it can hold a place in the chart.

In my opinion this isn't bad especially when you take into account the game had to go against Infamous SS, MGS GZ and TitanFall all of which have had large advertising campaigns oh and Dark Souls 2 the overall result is quite good.
Enjoying LvW a lot! I was hoping it would have done better than Yoshi's New Island in their respective first weeks, but oh well.
Did someone screw up the advertising? Layton games have always done really well over here. I understand you guys want to keep the negative vibes out of the articles as people get mad, but 15th is quite a poor result. Wii U exclusives last year would regularly hit top ten spots on their debut despite the figures being so bad.
It's like a weird dream watching the two games intertwine into one universive. Superb crossover, really enjoying so far, I'm happy to see that a Phoenix Wright game has had it's highest debut, even if sold on the Professor Layton.

Sure, it's not a record this result, but I personally missed to see any advertise for it while I keep seeing advertises for a lot of games for the other consoles, so overall getting in the charts it's a great result ^_^

Yes i live 50miles from loon and when get the train my ads gets so many hits over 100 and thats outside tube train line as well. coffee shop workers, students, office works. 3DS is best selling console in the uk.
