During the latest Ubisoft Forward broadcast, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game – Complete Edition (including Knives Chau and Wallace Wells downloadable content), would be re-released on the Nintendo Switch and multiple other platforms for $14.99 this holiday season.
It's all in celebration of the title's 10-year anniversary. Here's a bit about it along with some screenshots:
With the return of Scott Pilgrim, players will rediscover the beloved 2D arcade-style beat 'em up game, inspired by the iconic graphic novel series and 2010 Universal Pictures film. Fans will fall in love all over again with the 8-bit animation by Paul Robertson, critically acclaimed soundtrack from Anamanaguchi, and retro cut-scenes from Bryan Lee O’Malley, creator of the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World graphic novel series.
With its unique blend of style, humor and classic gameplay, players will help Scott Pilgrim take on enemies, including the League of Seven Evil Exes to fight for love. To do so, players can embody Scott Pilgrim, Ramona Flowers, Stephen Stills and more unforgettable characters, all featuring their own unique signature moves and attacks. By earning experience points, characters can level up and learn numerous deadly skills.
Additionally, players will have the opportunity to team up with up to three friends locally or online to defeat foes, share health and coins, and revive each other. Friends can also compete in subspace mini-games, frantic dodgeball or challenge each other to epic last-one-standing battles.

Finally, a way to play this lost game again! But if it isn't on physical, that kinda defeats the purpose.
@Benhop07 totally agreed.
I remember giving up playing the original one because of too many glitches, like getting stuck on parts of the scenery or some other mildly annoying stuff/bugs.
But I wanted to play it because I liked the aesthetics and game style.
So hopefully this port is free of those minor annoyances, and I can finally enjoy it.
Apparently, this game is put in high regards. Never heard about it much before now though.
I love the movie and the game. So glad it’s back!
Day one purchase for sure. I regretted not playing this game 10 years ago. Rectifying that soon!🙌🏽
I really hope this gets a physical release for switch.🤞🏼
Will buy digital first and may be my first double-dip to physical too because of how it was lost before...
This was unironically the best game in the Forward, with Gods and Monsters/Immortals being a close second.
I’m so excited & happy with this announcement!!! This normally would be a day 1 buy no question, but I have a feeling a physical ver will come out near or after release..
Pretty sure there are plenty of companies clamoring to physically print this.
10 year old Port gets an article but nothing about Immortals Fenyx Rising out December 3rd? How does that make any sense?
https://www.ubisoft.com/en-gb/game/immortals-fenyx-rising
Announced 6 hours ago. I liked it better when I thought NL just slept thru it all. 😝
@rjejr NL is notoriously slow on news...
If you want a beat em up you should be buying Streets of Rage waaaaaaaaaaaay before this.
It was “meh” when it came out. No need to return.
Honestly this is better news for me than if P.T. was relisted. Love this game and it might finally be time for my PS3 to retire.
Scott Pilgrim, animanaguchi, Paul Robertson, insta buy for this guy! Thought I would buy it for ps4 but would way rather it on switch. Still got the game on my ps3 but as a Canadian I must buy anything Scott pilgrim as many times as its rereleased
It seems like a charming beat-em-up, and the one I want to make is based around a rock band aesthetic, but levelling? I don't know, personally...
Still, super exciting news for those that love it or have been dying to play it!!!
@Link41x I'm OK with slow, I know the Live show was a little late over there - didn't stop PS was live chatting it - but 6 hours after it's over your first article can't be the 10 year old Port, it has to be the Zelda BotW like game that releases in less than 3 months. It's a big deal, day and date with PS4, X1 and X1 and XSXS (whatever).
Is this game worth playing if you know nothing about the source material? I really like beat em ups and I've heard this is one of the best ones
Day one buy for sure, glad they finally brought it back.
I don't care if it's digital only, I am buying this day one, and it's never leaving my Switch!
Wasn't the original €10,- on launch? 😒
Looks like a fun beat em up. I always heard this game was pretty good but I never got around to playing it. Will the Switch version support local wireless play? I hope a physical version is also planned. If not then I'll probably pass on it or wait for a discount...
@rjejr
To be fair Immortals was announced at E3 2019, over a year ago, and we knew that it was coming to Switch.
This has been out of circulation long enough, that it's become a myth becoming desirable for people who missed it the first time.
This song is called: “I am so happy, I am so very very happy.” 😁
Only problem with this is it reminds me of how badly I want a sequel to the movie! 😕
LETS FREAKING GOOO!!!! Been waiting for this day to come since the launch of the 3ds!
@AxeltheBuizel yes! If you don’t know the material, play it still. Even better, if you have a way to watch the movie (It’s on Netflix) watch it. Tons of video game references. (And even a Seinfeld reference in there.)
I almost died when I saw this! Getting physical and digital if physical comes out later.
I still have this on my PS3 harddrive so I will pas on this until the eventual and inevitable Ubisoft sale. Glad they solve the legal issues and brought it back from digital limbo.
Never played this the first time around. For $15, I'm in.
I doubt O'Malley gets a cent of this rerelease, but he'll be stoked to play it again. He's been wanting this for years. I'll play it.
The day has come for my 360 to finally retire.
Me 9 or so years ago: "Eh, I'll pick up the DLC later."
Day. One.
@Benhop07 We're not sure how long the game will be available this time around (now that we collectively know better about licensed games). It's probably better to just get it digital at the best opportunity sooner than later, maybe a sale. Or maybe Ubisoft can consider making a budget Switch physical release? They're no strangers to putting Mario and Rabbids on sale frequently, amongst other games.
@rjejr To be fair, because it seems you're not aware of it, the Scott Pilgrim game coming back is many magnitudes a bigger deal than a Breath of the Wild clone. It's not just a cult classic that was never expected to come back, but much of it's notoriety built up momentum after it's license expired (through let's plays, streams, etc.). This game back then was many folks' first wake-up call to the realities that digital games are not perpetually available and licensed games are even more vulnerable.
@nessisonett It's probably one of the reasons I use my 11-year-old 360 so sparingly (well, I haven't turned it on in over a year), is all of the delisted games I have on it. Which reminds me, I need to get a new external hard drive to replace the one connected to it, to be on the safe side.
@PoorGeno He was in talks with Ubisoft last month (less than a month ago?! WHAT?): https://twitter.com/bryanleeomalley/status/1294047341582757888?s=20
Well, it's not long of a tweet. He said, "PS. ubisoft has reached out to me" August 13, 2020
There has to be money involved if it went down like that.
Scott's back baby!! I really do hope they relist the original games but I doubt it
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-
Excelent news that is now playable again!
Hoping for a physical relase in any way though, as later when the switch eshop closes it will be the same thing.
@EvilRegal thank you, this next one is called "we hate you, please die"
I thought the movie was way too overrated, but this game looks fun. I'll give it a look.
@Toy_Link @masterLEON I am aware of the mythos, but it's still a 10 year old Port vs a new IP. Scott Pilgrim is 1 of the best movies ever made, but I felt Castle Crashers was a better game.
And if it's such a big deal why did it take NL 6 hours to write it up? Wasn't like the Live Ubi event was a surprise. And SP has been rumored for months.

@SoManyHaveDied
SWEET! I love this one!!!
@Benhop07 Steam will still have it, has more staying power than the Eshop, for what that's worth.
@AxeltheBuizel I played the game which then inspired me to watch the movie. Play it with one of your best friends, definitely worth it.
I loved this game. It was a little rough around the edges, back then I do remember but hopefully they can clean this one up, ten years later. I to will wait a bit to see if we get a physical edition. If you like river city ransom, you’ll like this.
@rjejr I can't speak of the whys and hows of NL story assignments or why it's "6 hours late". It's big news for it's own audience, the way geeky stuff usually is (like Zion's video, for example). So of course news of the return a beloved niche franchise is gong to overshadow a new IP. And to me, a delisted game being made available again is a much different situation than a game simply aging then being brought back. The whole "licensing hell" stigma almost guarantees a game won't ever come back.
Great news! Great game! Nice to see a lost digital game return!! Somebody like Limited Run should pick this up and make it a permanent return!
This is great news! Hopefully they don't take it back off the market 6 months later. But I'll be getting it either way!
@TimboSlice
River City Ransom derived RPG beat em ups like this are so meh they boil down to grinding and spamming rather than having to understand your movement/attack options and enemy tells like in Streets of Rage, also a shame that Fight'N Rage is criminally overlooked while people never shut up about this, Fight'N Rage has excellent sprite art, music and Streets of Rage style combat while Pilgrim has sprite art, endless references and grindy combat against mindless fist sponges.
Needs to be physical, or this means nothing.
Wow finally a lot of people have been begging for this.
About time. This is one of the best beat-em-ups ever made. Great to see it coming to Switch. I have it for PS3, but because the DLC isn't for sale anymore, never had the chance to get Wallace.
Well, isn’t that nice?
Awesome game! Awesome movie too! Seriously if you're into gaming and haven't seen it you really should!
I'm so excited for people who've never played this before!
By the time I realized this game existed it was already off the market place, so I'm looking forward to grabbing this version.
Defo rebuying it. Had it on 360 but never got the dlc. Love the game alot (when the movie itself disappointed me after the half way mark as I love the graphic novels).
Will be double dipping for both switch and Steam.
This is good news. Need to have a real proper long play with this finally. Only really dabbled as I didn't play our PS3 that much back in those days.
im happy this game is getting resurrected for its fans.
its an important preservation.
this time around i may look into...
This one I'll get when there's a physical edition. Played it waaay back on the PS3 and loved it.
Only watched the film about a month ago, will pick this up, but only if physical. Come on Limited Run/Super Rare/anyone else
Yes! Though I really wanna go if you can take this online...and if that would go smoothly on the switch
super excited for this!!!!!! :’))
Great News! One of my favorite games from last gen and my favorite beat-em-up of all time by extension.
I would LOVE a physical copy for the Switch. Is that happening?
Huh. It’s not April 1st?
Finally, this is amazing news. Everyone moaning about it being digital, relax we have a tonne of people that make those limited physical runs now. They will already be scrabbling for the licence.
@masterLEON I was just going by what he said himself over a year ago on his blog. He said he wouldn't see more money after launch on it if someone bought the game or not.
OH MY GODDDDDD!!!
Seriously, THIS is the announcement of the year to me. Scott Pilgrim is one of my favorite games of all time, and I always thought it would be a great fit on Switch. This is a case where even if they release a physical version later, I will still buy it on top of the digital version.
Will this be a digital only game?
I hear this is a pretty rad game! Looking forward to it! ^^
@rjejrt the port of an old but loved game that many people dont have a way to play is bigger news than a new Ubisoft game that may likely be a repetitive task simulator. That said, I do hope the Ubisoft game is good.
I only own the game on Xbox 360, which is currently residing in what I call its "retirement home" - my other place on the Alps.
I'm not making the same mistake again. Scotty's coming with me with this rerelease. Switch for life!
Scott Pilgrim vs The World is one of my most wanted games to come to Switch. I really thought it’d never happen, but I’ve never been so happy to be wrong!
Super looking forward to this, never got to play it's original release and has been lost for years, hoping for a physical version even if it's a limited run.
@Moistnado No "t" at the end of rjejr
@masterLEON Fair.
I missed out when it was released on PS3/Xbox 360, so it will be good to have it back in circulation.
CANNOT WAIT. I love this game!
Physical release means instant re-buy. A rare case where both the game and the movie are absolutely great. I even love the literal vegan police in this, while I normally dislike both police and jokes at the cost of veganism.
One could even say... I lesbian(s) Scott Pilgrim, game and movie.
@AxeltheBuizel Yes, I'm sure it'll still be a good fun experience going in blind, but i do highly suggest you acquaint yourself with the source material! Scott Pilgram is awesome!
If it gets a physical release I'll be buying it if not then there's no point as it still won't be preserved
Celebrating its 10th year anniversary after is been gone missing for half of it kinda feels a little out of place... but I'm not complaining, I'll take it! (after a physical gets released)
It would be really cool if they added online co-op to this game, but i doubt they did.
@RPGamer Can't wait to beat down some exes online!!
@TimboSlice like, the only person being reasonable about the game here
Best news I heard in a long time!
finally my PS3 can rest in peace...
I love the Scott Pilgrim books, film and game, really great fun. One case where I'm happy to double dip
Makes me very happy.
