Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 8th)

Churning through my 3ds backlog still. I will hopefully finish Codename STEAM this weekend as I’m on the penultimate level and I have surprisingly enjoyed this game - it didn’t get enough love but unless being played on a ‘New’ system it really does suffer from performance issues.

Sprinkle that with a healthy dose of Xenoblade 3D and I call that a good weekend.

Re: 3DS Sales Might Be Lower, But The Demand Is Still Stable

At around £80, when bundled with Mariokart 7 the regular 2DS is just so accessible. And it is no bad thing as every time a system is sold that is one more person introduced to the world of Nintendo.

I will finally get a Switch at the end of the year and I cannot wait. But in the meanwhile I have been thrilled with the 3DS and its stellar library and I am churning through my back log of quality games.

Re: Nintendo Has “Nothing New” To Announce For 3DS In Terms Of First-Party Game Releases

The 3DS has had a fantastic run and (being in its twighlight) there are so many games going cheap for cheap as retailers are basically dumping their stock - I picked up Mario and Luigi Dream Team and Paper Jam for under £25, brand new!

Even the discounts on the e-shop are shockingly good. I took a punt on Stella Glow, which is my first Atlus game for the system. I will be enjoying my 3DS for a long while to come.

Re: Nintendo Will Continue To Sell The 3DS, As Long As There Is Consumer Demand For It

A lot of people have a death wish for the 3DS which I find puzzling. Without this little console, all of us Nintendo fans could be looking at a SEGA type situation with the Wii U’s failure.

The 3DS has kept Nintendo in the game as a console maker. This doesn’t take anything away from the Switch and its success; but in an unglamorous way, the 3DS kept the investors off Nintendo’s back and allowed them to create the Switch.

I agree that the 3DS is on its last legs, but it has had a great run and I still play it now. I will be picking up my back catalogue before they run out of stock and will enjoy this bundle of joy for a while to come

Nintendo U.K’s website have a bargain offer - a New 2DS XL plus three games for £130

I took the dip and finally upgraded from my original 3DS - to basically get three free games couldn’t be sniffed at.

But I reckon that at these prices, Nintendo are clearing their stock and by Summer will focus solely on the Switch - Nintendo do not normally offer such heavy discounts.

They will still sell 3DS games (as the install base is huge) but they will market them through the e-shop rather than physical - just look how long the Wii Shop lasted for.

Re: Video: Nintendo Would Like To Remind You That 2DS Exists This Christmas

@Emperor-Palpsy I agree, Nintendo has the right idea pushing the 2DS as a cheaper alternative. There are a lot of privileged individuals on this comment thread who do not realise that a lot of families struggle with basics such as heating bills and while as parents we want to spoil our children, getting three square daily meals on the table is the priority not the high specs of modern gaming.

For the price point, the 3DS line makes video gaming accessible to poor people. And the library means that these are high quality games which are affordable to everyone, regardless of background.

I did not grow up in a rich household but remember my B&W Gameboy fondly. If it wasn’t for that system’s affordability I would never have joined my peers in the video game world.

@nintendobynature - I never played the Gameboy edition. Uprising however is a superb game. Probably the best storyline of any game ever. Let’s put it this way, I was so inspired by this game that I named my son after one of the characters.

Uprising’s control difficulties are there, but to be honest, once you get into the game, you do not notice - such is the storyline, you just want to keep playing.

Re: Guide: Which Nintendo 3DS or 2DS System Should I Buy?

karolinpoznan

Have the original model, and I've payed the heck out of it. If it was not for FE Fates then I would probably buy a New 3ds XL for the stable 3D, and for Xenoblade.

However, I also really like the 2ds. One of the youngsters in my family has one and I'm really impressed with just how comfortable it is to play and how elegantly simple the design is. Plus it is an astutely cheap way to access the 3DS and DS library.

Re: Talking Point: The New Nintendo 3DS is Yet to Have a Real Chance to Revive the Portable Family

karolinpoznan

To be honest, my original 3ds works fine, so why upgrade...not just for Xenoblade, and not at that price. To upgrade, I would need a price drop, or a stonking set of exclusives.

Regarding software sales, I only bought two retail titles in 2015; Majoras's Mask and Yoshi's New Island (as it was highly discounted). That doesn't mean I've stopped playing my 3ds. Far from it, as now I'm catching up on all the great DS games I missed. In fact, I bought Okamiden for myself this Christmas instead of a 3ds game.

Once Fire Emblem and DQ comes out in Europe (ahem) I'll go back to buying 3ds titles. But for the moment, I'm enjoying catch up time with the DS library!

Re: The Yo-Kai Watch Franchise Has Now Shipped Over 10 Million Copies

I've caught up with the cartoon online, and actually it's pretty good. They have some fairly adult themes running through the show. I'm going to be looking out for this one when its released in Europe.

It won't be at the top of the list, as I'm still finishing Majora, and I'm edging to get the new Fire Emblem, but I reckon I'll get it by this time next year.
