@LordGeovanni Me too. There a number of eShop titles that have a rumored physical release. Finally broke down and bought Snake Pass digitally the other day though, as I had $20 credit on the shop.
Needs to hit the sweet spot of 7.99 - 9.99 to succeed, methinks. And why do people instantly scoff at a game that features vector art? I think this looks quite polished and painterly. Reminds me of the Mouse Guard comic series, if anyone's read that.
@NEStalgia I'm glad to hear it. USF2 is looking pretty cobbled together as a whole, so I'm not too surprised to hear that the controls are unresponsive.
Curious to see how controls in USF2's "Way of the Hado" can be so bad, but work well in Arms. Of course, Nintendo is going to be the best at programming for their hardware.
I thought for sure this would be relegated to Pro Controller or 2 Joycons in a grip for button controls. Was imagining either the right stick or trigger being used to curve the punch in some way. Ah well, love that there are so many supported control variations for Switch games. Options are good!
@NEStalgia Also, when you have no concept of what "next-gen" could look like, you think "this is the best thing I've ever seen. How could it get any better?"
@NEStalgia Definitely. I have a really hard time going back to the 32-bit era and enjoying myself (tried to play Medievil this weekend and just couldn't do it), but still fire up my Genesis regularly. We are spoiled! It's a good time to be a gamer.
Yes! I've been pestering them on Twitter to make this happen. Somehow I've managed to keep myself from buying any of the $20 Indies on the shop because I know down the line many of them will release physically.
@Proust Sold my Wii U copy for $35 a month ago and got MK8D through Best Buy Gamers Club for $50. Upgrades and portability easily worth an extra $15 in my book. Brought my Switch to the office today and played with a buddy on our lunch break (he brought his Switch as well). So much fun!
Played through the game with one character last night and had a lot of fun. $5 is the right price, as it's a little short but the production values are very high. The kind of game you knock out in a weekend, then come back to every few months.
So glad I ignored the reviews on this one. Having an absolute blast with it. I don't find the difficulty unfair—as you play, you unlock better spells and gear, and then you're able to get a little farther each time—and it has that one-more-time addictiveness to it. The lane based combat is fantastic as well. It requires just the right amount of brainpower to work out the math to stun enemies perfectly while managing character position and spell readiness. To me, for $20, this is a steal. I don't typically play these types of games, but this one captured me. Will definitely be looking into other roguelikes. At about 7-8 hours in, with 3 of the 6 main bosses cleared, I'd personally rate this an 8.
IMO, instead of working on DLC, they should have their devs neck-deep in fixing the online experience. We finished up the story mode and I ended up selling the game because the online play was intolerably laggy.
@SegaBlueSky If the first game is anything to go by, Turf War is only a small part of the package. Splatoon had a 10 hour story mode and other multiplayer modes such as Tower Control, Splat Zones and Rainmaker (capture the flag, of sorts). I believe there were at least 20 maps as well, and ranked battles, leveling up your character, and leveling up your gear kept the game from feeling stale. I'm sure I put 100 hours into Splatoon. Well worth the asking price.
Revisiting this one right now and having a great time. Pointer controls work well enough (have to recalibrate about once per level), but that's a small price to pay to be able to play this game anywhere/anytime.
@NinChocolate A friend said that when he called yesterday, Gamestop employees were answering the phone with: "Gamestop, this is Jason. No we don't have any Switches in stock. How can I help you?"
@Equinox And the part I don't get is that even if the Switch failed to push more units than the Wii U, 4 million still would have sold over the lifetime of the system. Maybe they wanted the first batch to be smaller in case there were any defects so that they didn't get stuck with a larger number of those?
@duffmmann But how awesome would an HD 2D side-scrolling Zelda title be? I can see it in a Child of Light art style. At least in my mind, that would be killer cool.
@G0dlike We finished the storyline on Monday night, and as much as there is left to do, the sense of urgency is gone. To the game's credit though, this is the first time I've actually felt compelled to complete side quests post-game in a very long time.
@JaxonH That was my understanding, in the case of Rime at least. I believe the devs said that the higher price had a lot to do with having to hire a third-party, Tantalus, to complete the port.
Just sold my Wii U copy of MK8 on ebay minutes ago to help recoup the cost of the upgrade to Deluxe. Haven't played 8 with much consistency in a while, so I'm really looking forward to jumping back into this one.
@ThanosReXXX That was my thought too. A blu-ray disc is dirt cheap and a cartridge, while maybe not $10 more expensive, has to add some expense to the production cost.
@Dev I read that they will be considering a physical release once the 4th and final game for King Knight is completed. Waiting for retail copy as well.
OK, so I had a bunch of store credit at a local shop and picked this up yesterday for the equivalent of about $5. Really happy with the game at that price. We took it to play with some friends yesterday and had quite a few laugh out loud moments... Not at the game mind you, but at each other. Like many party style board games, this is just a nice vehicle to create silly memories with friends.

@dumedum Haha, I did have that thought at first, but I don't think this is going to be one of those premium first party titles that demands an insane price down the road. I'm not averse to buying used, and I can see this hitting sub-$30 prices on ebay within a few months time.
