Re: Cat Quest Claws Its Way to Switch eShop Soon

Needs to hit the sweet spot of 7.99 - 9.99 to succeed, methinks. And why do people instantly scoff at a game that features vector art? I think this looks quite polished and painterly. Reminds me of the Mouse Guard comic series, if anyone's read that.

Re: EDGE Magazine Reveals How A Single Joy-Con Works in Arms

I thought for sure this would be relegated to Pro Controller or 2 Joycons in a grip for button controls. Was imagining either the right stick or trigger being used to curve the punch in some way. Ah well, love that there are so many supported control variations for Switch games. Options are good!

Re: Review: Kamiko (Switch eShop)

Played through the game with one character last night and had a lot of fun. $5 is the right price, as it's a little short but the production values are very high. The kind of game you knock out in a weekend, then come back to every few months.

So glad I ignored the reviews on this one. Having an absolute blast with it. I don't find the difficulty unfair—as you play, you unlock better spells and gear, and then you're able to get a little farther each time—and it has that one-more-time addictiveness to it. The lane based combat is fantastic as well. It requires just the right amount of brainpower to work out the math to stun enemies perfectly while managing character position and spell readiness. To me, for $20, this is a steal. I don't typically play these types of games, but this one captured me. Will definitely be looking into other roguelikes. At about 7-8 hours in, with 3 of the 6 main bosses cleared, I'd personally rate this an 8.

Re: Free DLC is Coming to Super Bomberman R

IMO, instead of working on DLC, they should have their devs neck-deep in fixing the online experience. We finished up the story mode and I ended up selling the game because the online play was intolerably laggy.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of the Splatoon 2 Global Testfire on Nintendo Switch?

jwfurness

@SegaBlueSky If the first game is anything to go by, Turf War is only a small part of the package. Splatoon had a 10 hour story mode and other multiplayer modes such as Tower Control, Splat Zones and Rainmaker (capture the flag, of sorts). I believe there were at least 20 maps as well, and ranked battles, leveling up your character, and leveling up your gear kept the game from feeling stale. I'm sure I put 100 hours into Splatoon. Well worth the asking price.

Revisiting this one right now and having a great time. Pointer controls work well enough (have to recalibrate about once per level), but that's a small price to pay to be able to play this game anywhere/anytime.

Re: ARMS Listed For June 23rd Release On Amazon Spain

@G0dlike We finished the storyline on Monday night, and as much as there is left to do, the sense of urgency is gone. To the game's credit though, this is the first time I've actually felt compelled to complete side quests post-game in a very long time.

Re: Review: 1-2-Switch (Switch)

OK, so I had a bunch of store credit at a local shop and picked this up yesterday for the equivalent of about $5. Really happy with the game at that price. We took it to play with some friends yesterday and had quite a few laugh out loud moments... Not at the game mind you, but at each other. Like many party style board games, this is just a nice vehicle to create silly memories with friends.

@dumedum Haha, I did have that thought at first, but I don't think this is going to be one of those premium first party titles that demands an insane price down the road. I'm not averse to buying used, and I can see this hitting sub-$30 prices on ebay within a few months time.
