Re: Talking Point: What Games Are You Playing This Weekend?

Currently on Colossus #13 in Shadow of the Colossus. Picked up Transistor and Song of the Deep on PS Flash Sale... Oops, this is Nintendo Life. Oh, scored a physical copy of rocket league on switch for a cool $17, so I'm sure to fire that up as well. If anyone is interested it's on sale at best buy this week.

@HauntedNostril Exactly. Whenever a great indie hits the eShop now, I hunker down and wait for the inevitable physical release. At the very worst, I'll have a ton of great games to play at the end of the Switch's life.

@thesilverbrick I jumped on snipperclips because it was so early and there wasn't a lot to play. I typically have a hard time paying 20 for a digital game though (15 is about my limit, 10 or lower is a no-brainer for a game I really want) so I was able to hold off on overcooked and rocket league, knowing that there would probably be retail releases at some point. It also helps that I just got a PS4, so there's another library of games to fill in the gaps.

@thesilverbrick It's download only "for now." They've talked about a physical release, but nothing definite. I really wish we could get more day-and-date physical releases. I've held off on so many indies, waiting for the physical. In many cases, it has paid off, most recently with the hint at a Rising Star published Steamworld Dig 2 hard copy.

@sillygostly I've not played an FE game since the DS entry, so I wasn't aware of other scantily clad characters outside of Camilla, who's heavily featured in all spin-offs and marketing material. I'm not surprised.

@Mr_Pepperami The NES and Saturn output pretty much the same native resolution (256 x 240 vs. 320 x 240). I agree, many 32bit games looked better due to improved color palette and more fluid animation, which I think this game also nails. As far as the market for pixel art is concerned, I don't know that we'll ever reach the saturation point because it holds up so well and provides a more cost-effective entry point for small indies.

Re: Video: Check Out the First Footage of The Mummy: Demastered

@Mr_Pepperami That's because all we had back then were fuzzy CRT TVs. Do a side by side with this next to the original Contra and you'll see a huge difference. There's no way the NES could have produced these visuals. The color palette was far too limited. This looks more like something you'd see on the Saturn (compare to Astal or the original Rayman).

@iamthesunset Awesome! I actually just bought Decap Attack on eBay (got a great deal) and am waiting for it to arrive. One of the Genesis platformers I never played as a kid, and I'm really intrigued by it. Magical Hat looks pretty cool too... maybe worth an import.
