Re: This Year's Genesis 5 Smash Bros Tournament To Officially Partner With Nintendo

@JJ286 Woah, calm down there. Making broad generalizations ends up poorly for everyone. I'm a part of that community, and while I find a lot of them to be pretty annoying personally and get what you're saying, there's no reason to start making such broad statements. Once you get to know them, they're not all that "toxic". It's easier to say a group is bad when you don't spend much time with them (which, I could be wrong, I'm assuming you don't). In isolation, you don't have anything to keep caricatures in check, and groups of people warp into parodies of themselves.

Re: Miyamoto Gives a Surprising Insight Into What He Looks For In New Game Designers

I think that is a good idea. You should obviously hire people who know what they are doing, but also have a variety of sources to take inspiration from. If you only hire people who are hardcore game fans and nothing else, the games that come out, even if they are good, become very insular and self serving. This may work with many other game companies, but not Nintendo, who is always trying to venture into unexplored territory.

Not really sure what the point of this is supposed to be when pretty much all of the games discussed in the article are all the big first party titles that already immediately come to mind, and like one or two eShop indie games. Where is Lego City Undercover? Where is anything that wasn't a major triple A title from Nintendo?

Re: Zelda Fans Vent Anger At Nintendo of America Over Doge Memes In Tri Force Heroes

I can't believe that people AREN'T mad about this. Memes are the worst thing to ever disgraced our culture. This mindless regurgitation of something just because it's popular shows that people don't like to think. Memes are the absolute most obnoxious thing that I have to deal with and only serve in these instances to make boring middle class Americans feel like they are part of some inner circle. There is no joke here. "Oh! It's funny because I've heard of it before!" Memes are kitsch. They are anti art, they actively seek to destroy art. They are worthless trends meant to be incessantly consumed and regurgitated until it has worn out its use, and then we immediately go to the next big thing without actually thinking about our mindless consumerism. They date themselves so quickly, and to put them in a product, in something that your audience is supposed to feel timeless so it can be used by consumers and continue to generate profit, is not something that was thought through very well. The actual line doesn't make any sense given the context of the universe. Why is this guy talking in broken English all of a sudden? Because the people who had a responsibility when translating this decided to put themselves first.

But it's also that they're obnoxious and we're sick of hearing them all the time.
