Re: Fan-Made HD Twilight Princess Update "On Hiatus" Following YouTube Takedowns By Nintendo

@Mahe Yes, I'm enjoying TP:HD a lot! I beat the game 2 days ago, and now I just walking around collecting/discovering the remaining stuff and having fun. Today, I've spent lots of time just fishing and playing "Rollgoal" (which is brilliant on the Gamepad) at the fishing hole. When I've found all the stamps, I'll probably translate all the hylian texts that are found in the game.

Re: Review: Star Ghost (Wii U eShop)

@Kilroy I agree with starting at Sector 3.1 would be a nice idea for a hard mode. However that would be a really hard mode, since you would not have any pickups or credits saved at that point. The way I see the two first planet systems is to collect as much as possible (since later on, it becomes more and more about survival).

Re: Twilight Princess HD Nearly Had Wii Remote Controls

jariw

I find it strange that there was no mentioning by Aonuma that a Wiimote implementation would result in the player having the Wiimote in the left hand (for standard mode)? The map is a nonsense argument, since the Pro Controller is supported.

Re: Review: Star Ghost (Wii U eShop)

@Ryu_Niiyama It's not a twinstick shooter. It's quite different, and more old-school than that.

@Chandlero Yes, I've found it extremely addicting! It even moved me from playing TP:HD. Pure fun!

Re: Review: Star Ghost (Wii U eShop)

Bought this today and played it for a bit. It's very seldom eShop releases have such polish and big attention to details. Sure, it's not a big game, but nevertheless...

@Chandlero Yes, the Gamepad mirrors the TV.

Re: Five Wii U Releases Confirmed for Nintendo Selects Range in Europe

@conman2012 Lego City: Undercover is a single player game. It uses both the Gamepad and the TV (in great ways, make sure to have the Gamepad audio turned on). However, everything about that game is fantastic, except the loading times when a new world is loading. It's by far the best LEGO game.

Re: Nintendo Drops Behind Sony in Japan as Wii U Sales Tumble

jariw

@sjfhsduk Did you forget that the Wii U was at 100k a week not just long ago? And compare to the Splatoon figures for the last week, which is 3 times higher than the hardware sales (which is WAY different to any other weeks since the Splatoon bundle was released). The Wii U shortages has been going on for some time now.

@rjejr Apparently, according to some JP retailers, they are not expecting a new HW supply until late February or early March. But perhaps Nintendo are currently saving remaining HW units for the Pokken release? I don't know. The CPU factory mentioned was Mitsumi's. It's all very strange.

Re: Chasing Aurora Dev Broken Rules Offers To Port Undertale To Wii U

jariw

@Peach64 I think Toby can take that financial risk pretty well by himself. Undertale has sold more than 1 million copies on Steam, without any big price reductions.

BTW, there are at least one other company that has shown interest to port Undertale to Wii U as well (one which has direct experience with Gamemaker to Wii U ports).

Re: Undertale Creator Open To Nintendo Port, But Wouldn't Be Able To Code It Himself

jariw

@Windy It's nonsense. Good Wii U indies that get good momentum sell. Renegade Kid is mainly a 3DS developer, and the Wii U game of his simply can't compete with other Wii U indies like Affordable Space Adventures, FAST Racing NEO, Runbow, Teslagrad, Shovel Knight, Stealth Inc. 2, SteamWorld Dig, Guacamelee, and many many more.

FWIW, I guess Toby should talk to the guy that ported Freedom Planet/Knytt Underground/etc. He's using his custom tools to port games. I guess Curve Studios only make ports when they can distribute as well.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Has Plans to Localise Mother 3 This Year

jariw

@GLA @JustinH She has pretty much the same info that Liam Robertson and ShockingAlberto have. She was the first that revealed that Pimin 3 was a planned Wii U launch title. She revealed in 2011 that the Smash 4 team was an new team, compared to the original Smash development team. She revealed pre-E3 2011 that the Wii U wouldn't have a HDD. And so on.

@joey302 Who the hell are you?

Re: Review: Level 22 (Wii U eShop)

jariw

Well, you don't NEED to use the D-pad (I agree it's clunky). Much better to just tap the icon for the item on the touchscreen. Moving with the sticks and tapping on the touchscreen is the best approach IMO.

Fun game.

Re: Splatoon Producer Hints at More Content Being Added in the Future

jariw

@Octane The gameplay value of the Splatoon amiibo content is really nothing, specially compared to what the online multiplayer offers.

@Gorlokk New iteration of a Splatoon game could be a single player game, a party game, or something else. They have now established a universe and some mechanics that they could expand in any direction. The best design decision they made was not be a part of the Mushroom kingdom.

Re: Nintendo Download: 28th January (Europe)

jariw

@Ventilator Great! Norwegian developers are about on par with Finland (Trine, Trine 2, The Swapper) I believe.
But still a bit remaining to the Swedish Wii U indie titles (Minecraft, SteamWorld Dig, BADLAND: GOTY Edition, Gunman Clive HD Collection, Human Resource Machine, Ittle Dew, Knytt Underground, Little Inferno, Stick it to the Man!, Year Walk).
If we count the Danish development as well (Affordable Space Adventure and Spin the Bottle), the Nordic lineup of Wii U indie games is pretty impressive!
