Re: Nintendo Switch Hardware Sales Reach Another Level in Japan

jariw

@ricklongo No, the supply issue in Japan still stands. Still sold out. The Switch numbers in Japan is still a supply issue, not a demand issue. However, the supply has increased WW considerably during the past 6 weeks or something. You should expect considerably higher numbers during the December weeks, according to the ResetEra Japan sales thread.

This is a really fantastic game. In terms of the pure gameplay, it's much better than a game like Shantae Half Genie Hero, IMO. However, it's a pity that it doesn't support HD Rumble. That would have worked fantastic when jumping on different kind of colored surfaces.

@SLIGEACH_EIRE SM3DW is designed in the same way as Odyssey: easy to get to the credits, increasingly difficult post game. I bet you will not be able to finish the very last level of 3D World, due to its platforming difficulty.

The challenges (so far) in the post game of Odyssey is how to reach some the moons, or to be able to even find them. I doubt most people have found all the 836 moon missions of Odyssey at this early point in time.

@SLIGEACH_EIRE And another game that makes lots of sense to port to the Switch, since the Switch already has 2 controllers built in. I got this game on the Wii U and double dipped the Switch version, since the Switch snappy portable/tabletop/docked approach just gives me so many more opportunities to play the game (and play it with other people). Brilliant game.

Re: Review: Axiom Verge (Switch eShop)

If nothing substantial has changed from the Wii U version (other than the lack of Wii U Gamepad functionality and the added portability of the Switch), I can't agree with this score, if Steamworld Dig 2 at the same time gets 9/10.
The scores for SWD2 and Axiom should be reversed, IMO.

Re: Critically Acclaimed Title, Inside, Is Coming to the Nintendo Switch

@BlueOcean There are a few cases now, where a smaller studio or indie developer announces the latest project first as the "main attraction" and then the older projects are added as extra ports afterwards.
The developer of Super Meat Boy Forever also releases Super Meat Boy and The Night is Nigh.
The developer of World of the West also releases Teslagrad.
The developer of VOEZ also releases Deemo.
There might be a few more examples.

So, I shouldn't rule out any future announcement of Limbo at this point.

Re: Poll: Six Months of the Switch - What Do You Think of Nintendo's Console Hybrid?

@PlywoodStick The Switch is a home console if you want to use it that way. The Switch is a portable if you want to use it that way. The Switch is a tabletop machine if you want to use it that way.
The hybrid nature of the Switch really isn't that difficult.

@NabbitFan730 Although the Wii U CPU is similar to the 360, the GPU in the Wii U however is much stronger and more contemporary than the 360. The Wii U has 2GB, where 1 GB can be used for games. The 360 has 512MB RAM, and much slower memory transfer speed.

Re: Poll: Six Months of the Switch - What Do You Think of Nintendo's Console Hybrid?

@BlueOcean You're factually wrong, again. To date Switch is well above 5 million - perhaps even 6, not 4 as you claim (it had sold 4.7M on the last day on financial Q1 last day of June, adding just the known Japanese figures since then puts the Switch way above 4 M).

And Shovelware ratio is MUCH higher on the Wii U. Shovelware is almost never reviewed enough to get the 4 required reviews to appear on MC. As an example, RCMADIAX only has 3 games with enough reviews of its total 36 Wii U games that appear in the MC listings. And as a comparison, almost all Switch games have more than 4 reviews on MC.

Re: Poll: Six Months of the Switch - What Do You Think of Nintendo's Console Hybrid?

@SLIGEACH_EIRE Technically, the docked Switch is around 3-4 times more powerful than the Wii U, depending on what you count. Practically speaking, that the Switch would output 2.1 megapixels 1080p where the Wii U would output 0.9 megapixels 720p, and then some improved shaders and textured detail since the RAM is larger and faster.

The Switch also runs on a more current and more stable (PC-based) CPU architecture, making it much easier and efficient for 3rd party developers to work with. The GPU support current-generation drivers. It supports both Unity and UE4 since day 1.

The main technical drawbacks of the Switch compared to the Wii U are that it doesn't support USB storage and isn't backwards compatible.

What are the many aspects you're referring to as "worse" than the Wii U with the Switch docked hardware design?
