Re: Feature: Five Key Reveals We Want in 2015's First Nintendo Direct

@Flopsy86 Mario Party 10 will be released much sooner than that IMO. It's one of the very few games that has box art (found on the NoA site), it is one of 2 Wii U games that is currently classified for Australia, the amiibo support is set, and apparently the NoA eShop lists it as "coming soon".

Re: Feature: The Biggest Wii U Games of 2015

@sailornic Only 10 in this list (9 Nintendo games and 1 indie). There are 4 other known Nintendo titles and probably 50-100 indie titles (but I guess only 10-20 of them are really good). And some other stuff will probably also arrive.

Regarding Donkey Kong games, 2015 is the year where we will find out if the rumour about Monster Games developing Diddy Kong Racing 2 is true or not. I doubt Retro is working on its 3rd Donkey Kong game in a row, it's more likely they're working on a Metroid right now.

The only games on this list I'm interested in are: The Legend of Zelda, Splatoon, Mario Maker, Star Fox, Yoshi's Woolly World, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Mario Party 10, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, Devil's Third and Affordable Space Adventures. I'm also interested in games like Mario vs. Donkey Kong U and the 2 Miyamoto "Project" games, and quite a couple of indie games, like Hex Heroes and Swords & Soldiers HD.

Re: Year in Development: Nyamyam

jariw

Tengami is an experience that I would not like to have on an iPad. The HD screen and good sound is absolutely essential. A pity that the sales aren't good. It would be nice if Wii U users would start discovering other things than VC titles and Shovel Knight. There are quite a few gems on the eShop.

Re: Iwata Saw Miyamoto As A Rival When He First Started Out

FWIW, when Hiroshi Yamauchi created the departments that would be known as EADs in Kyoto in the beginning of the 1980s, he set up each EAD as a closed department competing with the other departments. That internal competitive approach seems to be all gone now, with Miyamoto working with all EADs, and Iwata setting up a new Kyoto building where the hardware and software departments work closely together.

Re: Feature: A Year in Development - Curve Digital

Curve Digital has become one of my favorites eShop game studio. They have brought a number of high-quality titles to the eShop. My favorite so far is Stealth Inc. 2, which was a great game with a fantastic Wii U implementation.

Re: Super Smash Bros. Grabs Third Place in NPD Charts as Wii U Secures Its Best Week Since Launch

@darthllama Again, compare the weekly sales pre-MK8 and post-MK8 without counting any peak. I'm not talking about "blips", I'm talking about the new constant level relative to what it was before. And I'm not talking about any other console.

@Action51 Quite frankly I don't care about the console sales. I'm not a Nintendo shareholder. But I don't appreciate when people just produce spam based on non-facts. I think the Wii U has a really good selection of great games, that's all I care about.

@maneauleau Smash is the only Nintendo Wii U game I know of that doesn't support user account save files. And it's also the only Nintendo Wii U game that doesn't support the touch screen when selecting buttons on the screen.

@Gerbwmu Different user accounts are pretty good for kids, if you have lots of eShop games. That way, you can arrange the icons in an accessible way for each kid.

Re: Research Firm's Black Friday Data Shows Wii U Lagging Behind in Sales

jariw

@darthllama And if the 1st party titles don't interest the users, why would it be in Nintendo's interest to get those users? The other 2 consoles need lots of consoles users early on, since the paid subscription services during a long period of time is a main source of revenue. For Nintendo, it's the attach rate to first party titles that creates the revenue.

Re: Research Firm's Black Friday Data Shows Wii U Lagging Behind in Sales

@allav866 I actually support Reggie for not dumping prices, from a business side of things. Price dumping reduces the value of products, just look what Steam sales do to gamers' buying patterns. Removing Kinect from a launched product+price dumping is a completely different business strategy.
Personally, I'm cool if Reggie waits for people to say "there's no way I'm paying $300 for a machine just to be able to play Mario Kart 8, Super Smash U, Zelda U, Splatoon, Metroid U, Starfox U, Pikmin 3, Bayonetta 2, Yoshi's Wooly World, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, Metroid U, Tropical Freeze, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Wonderful 101, Captain Toad:Treasure Tracker, Devil's Third, etc, etc".

Re: Video: Curve Studios Demonstrates Stealth Inc 2's Level Editor

jariw

This is such a great game, brilliant test chambers and hub world design! I have completed the main game, but haven't rescued all the clones yet or found all the secret test chambers. Without a doubt one of the top eShop games available.

I have just tested the level editor a little bit, but the kids has made quite a few levels for personal use. One small "problem" with the editor seems to be that you can upload a level even if it hasn't been tested as solvable? (In Pushmo World for example, you must play the level through before you can share it.)
