The article and the comments here are embarrassing. Speed golf is an actual endurance sport, that actually exists IRL. It's not something that was invented for a console game.
@sanya_exe The whole point with the Williams licensed tables are that they are based on actual Williams tables. There are plenty of fantasy FX3 and Star Wars tables tables already.
@Retron The syntax of the language is mainly a mix of BASIC and C and some other languages. But I think the online help files should give you a good grasp of how the language works. It's not object-oriented. It has struct support (with typed members), but the variables are loosely typed similar to Lua. It has a bitmap editor, but I found it rather limited, so I created a XPM graphics "importer" instead (I then retype the XPM content for the graphics on the Switch), which I've shared in FUZE. It also has a terrain editor, but I haven't tested that. Projects are a single source file + its extra resource like graphics files. When you share a project (to friends only, currently) the whole project is shared. There's a lot of built in graphics assets, as well as some sound assets, that you can use to make a quick draft of a game. Performance-wise, it's surprisingly good for being an interpreted language. Going from coding to testing is instant. It's pretty easy to make a 60 fps 2D game (and there's also tools included to measure the frame rate and CPU/GPU load, so you can see if something drains performance). I bought the game on release and have made quite a lot of things now, although most of it is utility stuff (like a sound editor) to prepare for making some games to play here at home. It's really fun. But don't try it without a USB keyboard connected to the Switch.
BTW, the review doesn't seem to mention that the FUZE team has made some youtube videos for beginners who want to learn how to code in FUZE4Switch.
Forgotton Anne was an excellent (and beautiful) story-based game! My personal favorite of the month. Horizon Chase Turbo is very fun although I just started it, and so is Cattails.
@Eldave0 Or you could read other reviews of a game from other outlets that give other/lower scores? (IMO, you shouldn't base your purchase decisions on this particular reviewer. At this point, it's pretty obvious that most of his reviews are browsing 1 hour of the game and then a short summary of the basic features.)
@FTPinkRabbit The game runs just fine, and it doesn't have worse fps drops than BotW had when it released (and fps is much more important in a Zelda game than in a simulator IMO). It's better to watch some streams of Switch gameplay instead of reading this review of a game that wasn't Simcity.
@SKTTR It doesn't have touch screen support (and the more I play, the more I understand why). The console UI works very well, since the game is pretty deep.
It's not a 10/10 game, and probably not a 9/10 game, and it's certainly not a 5/10 game. 8/10 or 7/10 would seem right, compared to what other games get at NL.
Also, it's not a Simcity game. It's its own thing.
I have played an insane amount of this game since I got it last week. It has never crashed. Any frame drops that might have happened has never prevented me from doing exact what I wanted in the game. Zooming in/out is always very rapid. It's one of the most fun and addicting games I've played on the Switch (and I have over 150 at this point). The only performance issue that I've noticed is that it stutters/stops when autosaving, and when zooming in really close. I really don't understand this score or the review, since it doesn't reflect the game. The review reads like "it's too complicated for me, and it isn't Simcity". To me, it feels more and more like some game journalists got together at the Gamescom meeting and decided what they would think of this game. (The other outlets that wrote in similar fashion as this review mentioned Gamescom. Perhaps that was where Dom tested this game as well.)
@pullmyfinger A site doesn't need to conform MC's numbering system. If you read MC info about Nintendo Life: "On average, this publication grades 10.3 points lower than other critics. (0-100 point scale)" That's how you should interpret NL's numbers in a MC context.
@Nunya Comparing resolution outside the same dpi space is pretty useless. Or did you really play Mario Galaxy on a screen size that was the same as the Switch portable screen?
@The_Pixel_King Between Yoku and Runner3, easily Yoku. Haven't played Paladins. Yoku is a must-own Switch game IMO, specially if you like Metroidvainias or Pinball games. Very well optimized and running at full resolution in both modes.
@tourjeff It was. Pixelpar heavily hinted at it (a "Super Mario"-themed game with Mario, DK, etc made by NDCube) one day before the Direct. And the content of the Mario Party game was pretty much leaked in February, but with a 2019 release.
Yoku's Island Express is sooo good (played it to 100% last week)! And so is West of Loathing (playing it now), specially for the low price they're asking. Ironcast is a game that I spent like 40 hours in last summer, great fun. Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is a great coop, specially if you are 3-4 people.
@SmaggTheSmug Others are a lot harsher? The Metacritic score is at 83, and the Opencritic score is at 82...
Complaining about the backtracking is like the complaints that BotW have a world with nothing to do in it. (There are stuff to do in Yoku during backtracking. Even if you have done all the side quests and found all collectables in an area, there are the pinball sections where you can collect fruit.)
@Spoony_Tech I've played 27% now, and the game is brilliantly designed, and it works fantastic in both docked and undocked modes.
Tip: play it with a BotW exploration mindset rather than rushing from A to B. There are lots of side quests and characters to talk to, and even if you go from point A to point B you can play pinball on the way to collect more fruits (fruits is the main currency for unlocking things). And there are so many great details in the artwork of the game.
@Pazuzu666 In what way does it play like a mobile game? What mobile game are you comparing it to? I have played a couple of hours of it now, and it plays more like old-school Amiga games or something.
@Damo You should probably remove the 3rd best selling indie, since it seems to be false, or at least include the source. At the moment, it looks like Flyhigh (with some help from IGN) just misunderstood the slide that Nintendo put up on GDC. There's a ResetEra with all the relevant links and sources to the confusion, if you're interested.
@belmont All or almost all of those games are better on other platforms? What? AFAIK, the only game on that list that is better on other platforms are Rocket League. Stardew Valley is only better on PC if mods are a must, but as a console version the Switch port is very solid in both docked and undocked. And playing portable is a huge benefit for a game like Stardew Valley. Celeste and Steamworld Dig 2 make excellent use of HD Rumble, which the other versions lacks. And Steamworld Dig 2 even adapts different HUD sizes for docked/undocked. Shovel Knight, Sonic Mania and Dragon's Trap are pretty much identical on every platform, except that the Switch offers both portable and console gameplay. Snipperclips, Fast RMX and Floor Kids only exists on the Switch.
@Paperboy I turned on Assist Mode, although I didn't use it in-game yet (other than to unlock all the worlds to see all the content). The Assist Mode settings are brilliant IMO, since you can tweak a certain setting, or just turn on Assist Mode for a specific screen where you have difficulty proceeding.
It's a hard platformer, but the environment you play in is very player-friendly.
@Bunkerneath The source is NCL, so of the viewpoint is Japan in this report.

@Roarsome Stardew Valley was released in Japan the last week of 2017.
I've played through the game, and this is a really strange review. It never even discusses the things that the game does differently compared to a traditional Zelda game. Like that you don't need to farm arrows or bombs. It also feels like the reviewer never completed the game.

Double-dipped (sort of, never got the DLC before) Steamworld Heist:UE. Have played a few hours now. Fantastic game, and both docked and portable modes play wonderfully! I didn't realized until now how little I actually played of the game when the game arrived on the Wii U a year ago.
I'm now trying to juggle plat time between Steamworld Heist: UE, BotW DLC, Dimension Drive, Blossom Tales, Stardew Valley and Rocket League...
@Moon If you find it cheaper on iOS, and have an iPad, and like to play it on an iPad, why not just buy it there? Or wait for a sale on another platform?
@JayJ I finished the game, and IMO it's a game that gained a lot to be played on a big screen. And I will absolutely replay it at least once, since there were lots of story (and other) connections that become apparent at the end.
@wiggleronacid Currently 30 fps portable. I think the developers said they will fix that. Like so many titles released the last couple of weeks, it's a game that seems rushed for the Holidays.
@YANDMAN Music is generally recorded pretty late in the process (specially when dealing with live music), but it doesn't say that much about a release date.
What??? Really? Multiple players (and reviews) have claimed that this game gets so much frame rate problems later in the game that it becomes unplayable. And NL says the game performs well?
@vincentgoodwin You're not the only one. Brian at IGN (and I think some more there) said the same thing. The MC score is also higher for Steamworld Dig 2 than for Samus Returns. But on Nintendo-biased sites like this one, the score is obviously the other way around.

The game was originally at $20 on release, just like the Switch version.

The reason why the European version is more expensive has already been mentioned.
