@th3r3ds0x I did read the article, I assume you only read my first comment. When I posted that, the article hadn't updated yet and we'd all assumed that Capcom was teasing some sort of arcade collection. Then later on the article was updated the new information, and I posted a second comment to reflect that.
@MH4 How dare you steal my incredibly original and creative joke. I'd lecture you about the seriousness of plagiarism, but I've gotta get back to playing Animal Crossing: New Leaf on my Nintendo 3DS.
Ok, whatever interest I had was immediately sapped as soon as I saw the update. Arcade games are cool and all, but there's no way I'm paying more than $200 for them. I've already got a SNES Mini and that's plenty enough for me - also significantly more affordable, too.
I'll be blitzing through the Ace Attorney Trilogy for review, and if I manage to find any spare gaming time aside from that I'll be sure to dip back into Yoshi's Crafted World. That game is just so delightfully charming.
I've not played it, but I've heard so many wonderful things about it that I'd certainly check it out on Switch. At the very least I already find the art style to be striking.
Can we please get some footage? After hearing all the reports from PAX and now even Boon himself praising the switch version, I have full confidence in it--I just want to see it in action now.
The big question here: is there any reason you should play Sonic Racing instead of Mario Kart? If you're not a diehard Sonic fan, i don't really see any particular reasons.
Definitely excited for this. As a fan of story-focused games I'm super intrigued, especially after hearing about all the buzz it's gotten in the past. The big question is how it'll perform - but I guess we won't have long to wait for that now!
Depending on whether I get review codes for them, I'll definitely be picking up both the Final Fantasy ports. Just not sure if I'll get them immediately or if I'll wait for their prices to inevitably lower. Aside from that not too much for me, though I may pick up Mortal Kombat 11 out of sheer morbid curiosity.
So pleased to see Celeste so high on the list. It's possibly the greatest platformer I've ever played. It's the most perfect marriage of gameplay and story that I've had the pleasure of experiencing.
I'll be working on Yoshi this weekend. Gotta say, I didn't expect it to hook me this much. But in all honesty, the chill, laid back attitude of the game is everything I need right now, so I'm not going to complain.
Such a shame to hear that. Even though I'm no fan of the Power Rangers (always thought they looked ridiculous and cheesy, and I say this as someone who grew up on old-school TMNT) I'd thought that this looked like a promising fighter. Seems that the developers can't shake off their micro-transaction-filled mobile roots, and that's unfortunate. Such wasted potential.
@Audigore0733 Yep, I firmly believe that any game is possible on Switch as long as you put the proper work into getting it to run. I recall reading Panic Button state that even Horizon Zero Dawn could run just fine on Switch if it was optimized properly, which is just insane to me.
To continue my poem from yesterday, this is yet another way to love Panic Button.
Man, this is exciting, and we don't have long to wait either! April is absolutely nuts for Switch games. Here's hoping I can carve out the time to check this one out, since I've heard so many good things about it.
@ThanosReXXX Absolutely, the perturbing presenters didn't change the fact that this is probably by single most anticipated Switch game this year. Looks fantastic in nearly every respect, and I can't wait for the next info drop...and hopefully some direct gameplay without commentary.
@ThanosReXXX Yeah, I know it's customary for Japanese videogame livestreams to feature lots of talking and fluff and whatnot, but this stream was just excessive. Again: music is one of the big changes in this version of the game. So when they changed the music from midi to orchestral, I wanted to actually hear the music, not the sounds of half a dozen Japanese people screaming like it's the second coming of Christ.
@SKTTR I'm well aware of that (and I think that Wonder Boy certainly showed its age and could have used a few readjustments), but LizardCube has already expressed their interest in remaking Zelda 2 in both artstyle and gameplay. Plus they're already making a new Streets of Rage so I think that they're up to the task of creating something more than just a fresh coat of paint like Wonder Boy.
Zelda 2 is pretty solid mechanically, it's just horribly balanced and vague with its direction. If LizardCube could make those few changes as well as whatever else they think is necessary, I think they'd do quite well.
I would far prefer that LizardCube handle a Zelda 2 remake. Their remaster of Wonder Boy was brilliant, and I'd love them to get their hands on Zelda 2, give it their distinctive beautiful art direction, and tweak it to bring it up to the modern age.
This looks beyond phenomenal. Seems like a fantastic port, and truly the definitive version of the game. I'm glad that Square is giving Nintendo fans the proper treatment we deserve after the excruciating silence about the Switch version.
...And speaking of silence, I wish that the livestream presenters would pipe down sometimes. When one of the big selling points of your game is its new music, I'd like to actually hear it instead of constant laughing and shouting.
I'm glad to see such strong third-party sales on Switch. Sure Super Robot Wars T sold more on PS4, but 44,000 units is nothing to scoff at. Likewise nice to see Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon perform best on Switch.
@BenAV Wholeheartedly agree, indie games need pre-release marketing and hype just as much as bigger games. Take Dead Cells for instance. I doubt that it would have become as big as it is without building up its fan base through its brilliant marketing on Twitch and steam early access.
This looks pretty good! However, the name of its publisher summarizes its biggest issue - it's just "Another indie". I'm not sure if it's going to stand out on the eShop, especially with so many amazing indie games hitting Switch this year.
Both Mechstermination and Katana Zero are in grave danger of Cuphead. Yes they're both quite different, but releasing so close to such a juggernaut like Cuphead is definitely going to hurt their visibility. Regardless I'm quite interested in them all and I'll be sure to give each of them the attention they deserve!
