Any surprises this week? Surprised to see Smash become the best-selling game already? Let us know in the comments.

I'm glad to see such strong third-party sales on Switch. Sure Super Robot Wars T sold more on PS4, but 44,000 units is nothing to scoff at. Likewise nice to see Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon perform best on Switch.
The way this headline was worded, I thought they were implying that Super Robot Wars T was the 3rd bestselling Switch game and I wondered why I had never heard of this game before!
One thing I’ve always wondered: why is software shown lifetime sales, but hardware only shows last weeks sales?
@EverythingAmiibo lol totally did the same thing for a second I was like "wow, they need to localize that game like yesterday then!" haha
This accolade is well deserving, Smash is the one Switch game I can't stop playing.
Gap between PS4 and Switch units sold in Japan: 275,084
... these figures pretty capably demonstrate why it’s the perfect time for nintendo to release a family of switch hardware. they have the opportunity to completely change the landscape of videogaming right now, while the iron is hot.
Two weeks, tops, and Smash will hit 3mil. Wow!
Pretty surprised DOAX3S sold almost twice on PS4 than Switch considering the extra censorship. Maybe because the age demographic of players in Japan? IDK.
Even though Dead or Alive Scarlett is heavily censored on PS4, it sold better on Sony’s machine. Dafuq is wrong with Japanese people?
Anyone knows is Super Robot Taisen T has English language as an option?
I won't be making another account for China or Taiwan and I won't import either, so it's digital on the Japanese e-shop or nothing =
Sekiro needs to come to Switch, I love the Tenchu series and I need one on the go.
Surprised Chocobo managed to sell that much on any platform.
RIP Media Create
Smash is unstoppable
That's too bad. Splatoon 2 is a much better game. Splatoon 2 doesn't have it ask you how you want to play only to completely ignore it once you get into a match. Some games would call that broken and in need of a patch ASAP, but, not Smash Ultimate. And, with numbers like these, I don't expect it to change.
@RandomLeo00 I don't have time to check atm, but AFAIK you can look for "英語" on Japanese eShop pages where languages are listed.
@nhSnork That's a good tip.
I love that beating Splatoon 2 is something for Smash to genuinely be proud of.
It was only a matter of time for SSBU to overtake Splatoon 2. System in, system out, it's is the consist evergreen title for Nintendo. Poor Sakurai... that man may never be able to walk away from this series.
I really enjoyed Splatoon 2 from the demo! I actually got some TWEWY vibes from the urban aesthetic. But since the content is ending just as I would jump in, I'll just focus on this year's games and wait for the inevitable Splatoon 3.
I'm not surprised that Smash took top spot, but I am surprised at how long Splatoon 2 held the lead. I love the game, sure, but I never expected these slimy little squid children to outsell a Mario title.
Also? I can't remember the last time I saw anyone playing a Vita. How are Vita sales STILL more than quadruple what the XBO and the XBO-X combined are selling? I know the XBox isn't as big of a deal in Japan, but still.
@BensonUii The only way it could be otherwise is that, for whatever reason, Splatoon 2 has a higher ratio of digital vs physical sales than Smash. Which I'm not sure there's really evidence for that. So it's more than likely Smash outsold Splatoon overall.
@nhSnork
Thanks a lot, I'll check when I get home!
Woo need to get super robot wars. Ugh I really need a money tree.
That's the most PS4 titles I've seen in the top 10 for a long time. Good debut by Sekiro too. Oh, Xbox.
