Following Bethesda's official confirmation Wolfenstein: Youngblood is launching on the Nintendo Switch this July, the company's FAQ page for the game has revealed a few extra details.
If you had any concerns about the Switch iteration, there's no need to worry. This version is being developed by the talented team at Panic Button. The studio's previous releases on Nintendo's hybrid device include Rocket League, DOOM, Wolfenstein II: New Colossus and most recently Warframe. Other versions of Youngblood are being developed by MachineGames in partnership with Arkane Studios.
In addition to this, the FAQ reassures Nintendo fans that the Switch version of Youngblood will launch the same time as the other versions. Switch owners will also have the opportunity to pick up the Deluxe Edition of the game on day one, which includes a 'Buddy Pass' and a Cyborg Skin Pack. There are a number of pre-order bonuses as well. For more information about this upcoming release, check out the announcement.

Wonder how they're gonna take their top quality porting skills after Wolfenstien 2, which seems as impossible as Doom but was possible
@Malcrash I've stopped trying to figure it out. It's pure sorcery.
Panic Button seem like some sort of Switch Wizards. How the heck do they do what (apparently) no one else is capable of?
@MagnaRoader the same way the guys that made resident evil 2 on the n64 happen. black magic
They're the bests ! I'm still hoping they'll manage to make Subnautica run on Switch.
I feel like these guys could easily get Apex Legends running on Switch
Panic Button, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways...
Rocket League
Doom
Wolfenstein 2
Warframe
Wolfenstein Young Blood
Doom Eternal...
Yes, I truly love thee, Panic Button.
Panic Button are using witchcraft. Or maybe Switchcraft.
People used to get burned at the stake for this kind of thing. Now they get paid for it and Nintendo gets some big games day and date with other systems. What a time to be alive!
So they are working on Youngblood? Good, no need to panic.
Yes I knew I could always rely on them, I still had second thoughts about Mortal Kombat 11 though.
Saw Bethesda and Panic in the same sentence, my brain thought Fallout 3. Nope.
“Panic Button is developing [x]” is certainly one of the best sentences you can hear when talking about the Switch. They truly have a magic touch
"All Switch game development is now being done by one developer."
I will buy anything this company optimizes for Switch.
Awesome. A great version is guaranteed then.
Excellent. I was gonna be slightly disappointed otherwise. I'm sure it would be good either way but with what Panic Button has already accomplished on the Switch, I'm sure this game will launch in great shape and only improve from there. I loved DOOM and Wolf2 so I'm stoked for this one. It's crazy how just all of a sudden it was announced, BOOM Youngblood confirmed for Switch, July 26th! What! Panic Button's doing it! What! I'm surprised they didn't announce this sooner.
Panic Button has quite a bit of experience developing for the platform now, with particular experience working in this engine on this exact franchise.
Not only that but this is the first time the game will have been developed ground up with Switch in mind, so the better decisions can be made in development that will allow for a better running game on Switch.
I expect DOOM Eternal to be the one that really benefits most from this, but given this game is releasing day and date, they had to be developing it concurrently with other versions, meaning there was a feedback loop between Machine Games and Panic Button.
This should be good. And with gyro controls and a co-op system playing to the platform’s strengths? Run that.
Oh thank you Panic button. I'll be laying in bed playing this game in co-op this summer and I can't wait. Gaming in bed is the future 😂.
glad to see Panic Button is working on the port.
It’s gonna be a great port then! I already have it on preorder.
@Elvie Fr, if it didn't that would push my button
Is the full game on a game Card? The cover art doesn’t say a SD card is required or not?
@JaxonH Man if the switch pro is true, I wonder what they could pull off with that...
Does anybody have any more details about the ‘buddy pass’? I assume it just allows online co-op, even if said buddy doesn’t have the game?
@SquashyCat right it says you can lend that pass out to one person at a time and they get the full benefits of the game. You can use it as many times as you want. But just one person at a time.
@DTMOF84 Hey, thanks for replying. So they can even play it single player?
@SquashyCat they can only play with you. Here’s some FAQs on it.

@DTMOF84 Thank you
Panic Button for Switch is, what Feral Interactive is for Linux ;D Ferals did native Ports from serveral Codemasters racing games, dead island, Hitman, Deus Ex , Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider and more for Linux. Panic Button should team up with feral and port those games too ;D (Grid is coming to switch already, but Tomb Raider would be awesome too <3)
What's interesting to me is that the head developers on the main versions likely still try to push the PS4 and XBO as far as they go.
This means the task of running a faithful version on Switch becomes ever trickier for Panic Button. But they're up for it, and I'm stoked that they are!
@DTMOF84 Perhaps they are going to be using the new 64gb gamecards...which are actually bigger than the 50gb Blu-ray disks the other companies use.
Perhaps.
@Pod They target 60fps and 1080p/4K at those consoles. So scale down to 30fps(with drops), less effects and blurfest and you have the Switch version.
Good news. Getting Wolf 2 running on Switch (and after a couple of patches, running really well) was an amazing achievement.
I don't like the the whole Nazi thing with Wolfenstein. It was enough to put me off this game's predecessor too. I'm keen to see what Panic Button can pull off with Doom Eternal though.
Awesome. Now I just need to get back to TNC. After a friend sample played my game, starting a new game, he autosaved over my file when I was halfway through. I hope they change that in Youngblood.
@gungho_trucker Well nobody likes Nazis. That's why we shoot them.
Excellent!
I managed to actually complete Wolfenstein II - well the main story. This is rare for me. I’ll look forward to this.
I’m definitely grabbing this both for my Switch AND PS4.
@electrogeist Same here with both this and Doom Eternal.
@Giygas_95 Hell Yeah!
I wonder what they actually have to do here.
The engine changes are already, the art is done by someone else. For $30 I expect this will be using art and assets from New Colossus. I will still preorder.
I just need to know will the buddy pass be cross platform or not?
@JaxonH From the ground up? No. They are not going to make a new engine for a $30 not flagship title.
I now associate Panic Button with the word Quality. I really hope they don't make an arse of something in the near future and tarnish it. Not that I've any reason to think they would!
@JK_720 I think Apex on Switch is just a matter of time. Seeing as Fortnite has been one of the top games on Switch since it’s release it would be crazy not to take advantage.
I'll get the deluxe edition. Panic Button, I love you!
I, for one, am jazzed that this is shaping up to be one of the first major third party titles that will release on the Switch day and date with the other versions.
Regardless if one buys it or not, it is a great sign to not always assume a Switch port is always going to come weeks or months later.
@Tibob That would be pretty awesome!
And the Amazon listing for the deluxe already sold out just after a day listing.
@HumanDog
Oh sure, that takes care of the game at a pixel-outpul level.
Put if we're talking a huge volume of characters on screen, massive levels with enormous amounts of detailed geometry, and complex visual effects and physics simulation tightly integrated with the gameplay experience, it can get tricky to just have the game feel the same at the outset, even if you're allowed to lower the resolution, the texture quality, the shader complexity, and the framerate.
But as I said, I'm rooting for them here. That the games genuinely feel exactly the same have been the biggest area of surprise and delight for most critics of the first two id games PB! brought over to Switch.
@ilikeike Wow all these great games that nobody thought they could bring to switch. Trust me If they work hard enough they could put RDR 2 on the switch.
@Audigore0733 Yep, I firmly believe that any game is possible on Switch as long as you put the proper work into getting it to run. I recall reading Panic Button state that even Horizon Zero Dawn could run just fine on Switch if it was optimized properly, which is just insane to me.
@StevenG
That's not what I said.
What I said was built ground up with Switch in mind. Meaning they're developing it with Switch in mind from the start, aka making better decisions about what assets and geometry and textures to use that will run better on Switch, with a feedback loop present during development as opposed to developing ground up without Switch in mind and porting after the fact.
Has absolutely nothing to do with "engines"
Bummer that the standard edition will be digital-only in Europe, Australia and NZ. That seems to be across all platforms, not just Switch.
Thank you Panic Button!!! What with this and Doom Eternal coming and the just announced Hob us Switch owners are in line for some decent third party content.....
@Mamabear my thoughts exactly, would be cool to see Panic Button optimize it for Switch considering their experience in FPS.
Panic Button has always been the best Porting Studio ever. I own most of their work. Glad to see they are being recognize with all their hard work. I will def be supporting their efforts.
@JaxonH It has everything to so with the engine. That you quote it, tells me you don't know what you are talking about. From the ground up would require a new engine, with the switch as a first class target. Instead of reusing to the port made for new collosus.
@StevenG
Just because your language is limited does not mean the language of everyone else is limited. Just because you narrowly define “Ground up” does not mean everyone else in the world narrowly defines it.
I made it perfectly clear what I was referring to.
From the ground up has a defined meaning. You are changing the definition after being called out for buying into marketing hype.
