I imagine this whole "event" is just a much more imaginative version of "The servers will be down for X time due to maintenance and updates" stock message.
Reminds me of that Only Fools and Horses episode where Del goes on a gameshow (hosted by Jonathan Ross) and rings Rodney to help with a question who then gives him the 'wrong' answer, then when the show called Del to say it was actually correct he thought it was a prank and told them to give the money to charity.
Meanwhile I can't even get past the 5th stormtrooper in JK2, haha. I don't remember it being this hard on the PC back in 2002, perhaps I'm crap at console shooters or I've just gotten bad at games in my old age.
I guess I don't have a human brain as I didn't find it at all addictive, just boring trash. I hope they win if it stops my nephew's doing the annoying dances.
@Galenmereth And I paid less for BOTW than the cheapest I can find for Link's Awakening. If it is down to the cost of making it then I have to question why Link's Awakening is more expensive when BOTW was a fully new game, much more complex and it gave me over 16 times more play time.
@Peterjr1 I think most people's problem with the price is that it's a very short game. I'm not expecting 250 hours like with BOTW for every full priced game, but this game is only up to about 15 hours (£3 per hour) which is fine for single player games with additional multiplayer but I don't think the dungeon maker will cut it for replayability. For a lot of people it isn't a "new" game either, yes it is a complete remake rather than a remaster, but the story isn't new.
I see it the opposite way and steer clear of these games. If a game is 75%+ off then I wonder why and assume it's a desperate Dev trying to make up some sales because nobody wanted to buy a rubbish game.
I'm not sure who is worse, "influencers" or the people that are actually influenced by them. Either way the world could do without both sets of people, especially the self titled "influencers" and the kids who say they want to be 1 when they grow up.
As NSO is coming to it's anniversary, I've been looking at getting the retail version of Tetris 99 to get a (slightly) cheaper second 12 months plus the DLC. It's great for a quick couple of games but I wouldn't want to have to keep swapping cartridges all the time for it, so does anybody know if you need the cartridge to play it or once it's been plugged in once it recognises that you have the DLC and don't need it anymore?
I wonder how many people play this game just for the actual gameplay, like me. I couldn't give a monkeys about customising my car or what anybody else's car looks like, the gameplay is too fast to even notice anyway.
"-You cannot make videos of replays that contain DLC you have not purchased (fighters, stages, music, Mii Fighter costumes, etc.)." You can have the fight of your life against a Mii Brawler and then lose the replay the next version update, just because they had a hat on that you don't own? How ridiculous.
@Fake-E-Lee I Got the game in the E3 sale and I can share your frustration. I had ~2000 in money and died and then died again before killing my soul to get it back because of the stupid spitting plants kept hitting me which pushed me in to acid. That was annoying enough, but then 2 minutes later I found my first bank. Then again I had a load of money but died to something I didn't even see because it was so thin and then died again because it was too quick to avoid.
@McDerbert I once worked with a Kyle whose name was spelled Kiel (as in the German city). Needless to say I called him Kiel. I can't be doing with the silly misspellings or mispronunciation of names these days.
"Just" 100,000/150,000 daily active users isn't enough? How many do they want? I tried it and thought it was pants after 5 minutes so I'm surprised they have that many.
The technique I use to never miss is to look for when the gap is at about 7 o'clock and count 5 rotations (or 10 for legendary) and that somehow gets my brain trained to the rythmn of the spin before pressing the button. I've got to the point where nothing new seems to be coming on the board so I'm going through classic mode and looking for shop/summon exclusive spirits.
@carlos82 absolutely nothing. I really don't get why people are so obsessed with all this loot box, season pass, dlc garbage and spend a ton of money on it. I just go in and play the game as an actual game and pay no attention to all the customisation or events.
@Dustopolis most of the time it isn't additional though, they just pull it out of the game and charge you for it, especially obvious when it's day 1 DLC. Entitled to wanting something that they used to do for years before the money man came along?
@Dustopolis so we should just stop complaining about BS business practices just because "it's 2019"? You are the reason they do this stuff because you accept it. EA half heard us when we complained about Battlefront 2.
Took about 25 games for my first win, then another 300 for my second during the tournament, and my third and final win 5 games later. I feel like the last week has seen a dramatic shift in player quality as it seems to be much harder now.
@BanjoPickles the devs are raking in $200 million a month on microtransactions. That is reason alone to wish it to fail as it is just pure greed and an abhorrent business model.
Tetris! I can't get over just how good it is, even the missus likes it. Given how popular Fortnite is with the kids, and clearly a lot of people like Tetris 99, I wonder what sort of age bracket they're in, is it just the ~30+ age group that grew up with the original? Just had a game where I was ambushed from the start and got 5 of the first 20 odd KOs.
I managed first last night after about 25 games. It got too fast in the last few seconds and half the board filled before I knew it, I only just won as I was only a line or 2 from the top. Took me a while to notice that it shows on screen what the right stick does and now I regularly get KOs. Love this game. The bit about the events that they've datamined was already been announced in the Switch news section, so that at least gives some credence to the rest of the datamined info...unless they've just copied it from that news item.
I was pretty bored of the Direct until this was announced. I hate the whole battle royale band wagon as it proves the industry is running out of ideas and is just turning in to a microtransaction money making machine, but this game is brilliant (and doesn't have microtransactions). The only problem is the targeting of other people is pretty hard to do accurately and quickly when trying to concentrate on your own game at the same time.

X can still be a shape. It's not a letter to mark where treasure is on a map, but you still say 'X marks the spot'.
