The free-to-play sandbox MMO Growtopia is expected to arrive on the Switch on 18th July, according to a planned release date on the eShop in Europe and Australia. The game was acquired by Ubisoft in 2017 and has already been released on multiple other platforms and devices.
Back in March, there was a bit of confusion when Nintendo's official website said the game was available and then removed the listing. Hopefully, this doesn't happen for a second time.
Here's a description, courtesy of the eShop listing:
Welcome to Growtopia, the world's most creative free to play sandbox! Growtopia is a popular MMO game where everyone is a hero! Play together with wizards, doctors, star explorers and superheroes! Discover thousands of unique items and build your own worlds!
To play this game, you'll obviously need to have access to an internet connection. There'll also be DLC and microtransactions for the game available via the eShop. This includes more gems, VIP status. a monthly bundle and a special Assassin's Creed Ezio Outfit.
The game supports 1-65 players online, requires 186MB of space, supports the Save Data Cloud and can be played using a Switch Pro controller. It also apparently supports touchscreen inputs and is able to played in docked, handheld and tabletop mode.
Is this a game you've been wanting to play on your Switch? Have you played it previously elsewhere? Leave a comment below.

I would have never guessed this was Ubisoft, a AAA company. It looks like the end result of a 3rd grader's school project.
Trash is all I can think of that describes this game.
Looks a little cheap but it is free so i will give it a try.
I thought it said...Grow-Opia XD
Ew....
Miitopia is much better than Growtopia in my opinion.
Why would ubisoft want their name on this, looks positively dreadful.
Haha! What a story ubisoft!
@AxeltheCorvikni
While it does indeed appear that way, no small part of why the game enjoys lasting popularity has to be because of its developer.
It is created and operated by Seth Robinson. possibly one of the industry legends with most decades of experience in creating pleasant and engaging online communities.
A graphics person he is not, however.
Free to play = micro transaction garbage
It'll be a bugfest as it's from Ubisoft and I do not support the microtransaction model, so a hard pass from me.
@AxeltheCorvikni It was an indie game made by only two people. I'm sure they put effort into it a d Ubisoft is getting to know the game better and doing better. Here's an interesting blog.
