Drageus Games has revealed that it will be bringing Event Horizon to Nintendo Switch. You'll be able to get your hands on it at the end of this month.
The developer describes it as "an exciting space 2D action/RPG game" where players must take command of a space fleet and start a galaxy exploration mission. You'll be battling hostile aliens, conducting scientific research, capturing resources, and more, all while building new ships and upgrading your existing arsenal. The various weapons and the upgrading system behind them seem to be quite a focus here, as shown off in the trailer above.
On top of this, a press release for the game notes that there are "thousands and thousands of star systems, ferocious battles and surprising encounters" all waiting for you should you want to jump in. We've got a handy feature list below to give you a little more info:
Features:
– Millions of stars to discover
– Hardcore dynamic battles
– Over 50 individual space ships with options for modification
– Over 100 guns and modules
– 10 Unique factions with powerful flagships
– Exploration of planets
The game blasts off on Switch on 29th March, although pre-purchase is set to go live on the 22nd.

LOL anyone remember the movie with the same name haha gave me chills back then when I was still young
@consolfreak1982 Beat me to it. Apparently the scene were they turn the gravity back on causing a frozen body to drop and shatter had to be done twice because a disgruntled effects guy hid a Barbie doll in the first one and it popped out at the camera. That fact has always stuck with me for some reason.
And because I should have said something on topic, yeah this looks pretty good.
@ImprobableToast @consolfreak1982 YES!! Loved that film.
"Breath out all the air in your lungs and I'll catch you" - chilling
Not really interested in the game though
"We're leaving!"
Imma be honest here, this looks like a rather basic knock-off of Rocket Wars. But basic knock-offs are what built this industry, so I won't hold that against these guys!
@consolfreak1982
I do!
And I remember thinking when Dead Space came out that "Hey, this is just Event Horizon: The Game!"
First seeing the title and then the feature, getting hyped, then seeing gameplay and graphics, never mind. I want a explorationgame like elite dangerous
Why is this named after the movie?
“Where we're going, we don’t need eyes to see”
@Sandro89 trying to cash in on the name I guess
Glad there’s so many Event Horizon fans! I too thought of sadistic Sam Neil when reading this headline. A bit disappointed, but I kept reading. After those screenshots, methinks it needs to hit the airlock like Baby Bear.
@Retron They actually found a vhs tape with the missing footage in a salt mine in Germany and had plans to restore it and make a director's cut but apparently it was in such poor condition that it never happened apparently.
Reminds me of ev nova
I see some neat ideas on display here, but the backgrounds (which are like 99% of the visuals thanks to the small ship sizes) need a lot of help. Those stars are way too prominent and boringly placed. They need to be spaced further apart and just plain better looking. The visuals in general could do with much more contrast.
@consolfreak1982 one of my fave horrors ever! Shame this game isn't of that lol
"Do you see? Do you see!? DO YOU SEE!?"
Looks like Subspace/Continuum/Cosmic Rift with exploration thrown in.
Game looks like something I've played before, it got boring fast.
Looks like a lower budget Star Control, but of course, they only focused on ship battles and a wee bit of customization. Hopefully there's some depth in there, too.
@consolfreak1982
I thought the same thing when I saw the title !!
Based on the terrible movie where the shortest distance between two points is zero?
Oh man, Event Horizon is one of my favorite movies. What a letdown.
Aaaaaand I instantly thought movie ties lol. "Exploration of planets" ya say-- I wonder how fleshed out that is, otherwise I'm not feeling the game at the moment.
@Sandro89 An event horizon is actually a thing. It's the boundary at which escape velocity from a black hole is higher than the speed of light, so theoretically that is the point of no return. The concept pops up all the time in science fiction, not at all related to the movie.
This game intrigues me with its old-school computer game vibe, but I think I'll check out some Steam reviews before I commit to it.
I love Event Horizon the movie. It's easily in my top 5 favorite movies. "Where we're going, we don't need eyes to see!" I always cheer at that line ^-^
This game... uhhh... no. I'll pass.
@retroxdp Bruh, I totally thought of Star Control II when I saw the screenshots. We need more games like that. Also Even Horizon scared the heck out of me and I loved it.
@Sabrewing The original Star Control was only ship battles. Star Control II is what introduced all of the exploration and RPG mechanics.
@Mommar Which makes this a HUGE step back if they're going back to the original game for inspiration. For as much flack as SC3 gets, even it wasn't THAT basic.
@Sabrewing I agree, I saw it and thought if it was only the combat portion of the game then it isn't worth it. 3 gets flak but that wasn't because of a Gameplay issue. it simply didn't have the story elements anymore. Realistically 2 was a one and done sort of thing.
