Re: PSA: Don't Expect Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition To Include The DLC

dePaige22

@Res462 There's no added cost to Nintendo for including the dlc. Its already done and ported to the switch 2 for those who already own it. They chose to charge an ADDITIONAL cost, its extra profits, they wouldn't take a loss for adding it. At this point most people interested have already bought the dlc, why not use this to lure in the last remaining people on the fence, because if you were on the fence you arent paying 65+25 for the game anyway

Re: PSA: Don't Expect Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition To Include The DLC

dePaige22

@HotGoomba It's 5 dollars more than the original release and ACNH is regularly included in the $40 sales I've seen at retailers. So asking full retail price for a game that is almost 6 years old is equivalent to another $20 gotcha. Including dlc is a common way excuse for old games to return to full retail price and I think it's fine. But why even re-release the cartridge at this point. Would've made so much more sense to make it a flat 70 and throw in the dlc.

Re: No Switch 2 "Upgrade Path" For Dragon Quest VII: Reimagined Planned

dePaige22

@kmtrain83 Just to be clear, almost no one cares that the game runs directly from cartridge. Is it cool, yes, but transferring the complete data from cart/disc to storage is what people want. Game keys are not comparable to ps5 discs because you are reliant on a server to download the game. Deleting the game isnt a big deal because you can just reinstall it with no dependencies (there are key discs for ps5 but theyre usually the same scummy companies and are a small minority). I won't be supporting game key cards and even if I do want to buy one it'll be for sub 20 second hand - but if I could just install to storage from the cart I'd have no issues with buying them day 1.

Re: Pokémon Legends: Z-A And Pokémon HOME Connectivity Scheduled For 2026

dePaige22

Don't understand the not being able to go back and forth. Why even have a single application at that point? Wasn't home designed to be a final solution so we didnt have to deal with pal park, transporter, and a poke bank every generation? And why in the world is home never ready by release? It's data storage for a junior dev not some Herculean project for a team of 8. What's worse is how much they want to charge for Home and they can't handle such simple things. Yes I'm ranting but its so frustrating to have all these caveats

Re: Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 Prices Are Live, And It's Sticker Shock Time

dePaige22

Just adding my opinion to the pile.

Forcing us to buy Galaxy 1 again just for switch 2 upgrades is ridiculous. In fact, I think this should have been a switch 2 game instead of a free upgrade.
Secondly, 40 for the digital is such a rip off. The physical combo is 10 cheaper and has the costs of the cartridge, cases, and shipping. I definitely won't be getting the digital versions but it seems scummy they pushed people this way with the galaxy 1 overlap. So thank you to the digital buyers for subsidizing I guess?

Re: Nintendo's Ability To Ban Switch 2 Consoles Has Landed It In Hot Water

dePaige22

@MamaSymphonia once again. I nor anyone else is saying piracy is okay. Bet you'd feel differently if your sibling or nephew got a banned switch and they were screwed out of their money even when they did nothing wrong. And sorry but saying you arent defending the big company and then saying you'd personally prosecute is a huge contradiction and some real corporate simp energy. Calm down

Re: Nintendo's Ability To Ban Switch 2 Consoles Has Landed It In Hot Water

dePaige22

@SuperRetroArt except that the liability cant be enforced on a second hand buyer? That's the point, Nintendo could avert this issue entirely by not console banning. Same idea with not advertising game keys as a feature

You can make a new account but you'd lose access to purchases, plus you'd get banned again so what exactly would this do for the alleged pirate???

Re: Nintendo's Ability To Ban Switch 2 Consoles Has Landed It In Hot Water

dePaige22

EULA doesn't supersede consumer rights laws. Anyone supporting Nintendo is completely missing the point. The people getting their consoles banned arent being punished. It's those that buy them second hand and have done nothing wrong that are getting screwed over. "Just buy it new" is the most Nintendo fan boy thing I've heard. "The shops should check it" - have you people returned nothing.? They scan the item and your receipt that's it. The workers arent going to boot up the system and set up a new wifi connection for an issue they've never even heard of. The issue is banning a console is idiotic. They don't ban your account. This means the alleged pirates return their console, get a new one, and have no consequences. Meanwhile anyone else who hasn't done anything wrong gets a console that they cant use to play online or update games. Just like denuvo, it punishes the masses in an attempt to penalize the pirates. Makes no sense to ban a console, ban their account.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour Receives Its First Update (Version 1.0.1)

dePaige22

@undeadly If you enjoyed it for $10 then wouldn't you have enjoyed it as a a free pack in even more. The very essence of this game screams "here's something to show off all the cool features for a new consoles that most games won't even utilize yet". It's a neat experience, so why not enable that for everyone bypreinstalling it and having it be the first experience with the console? I don't get why anyone would want to spend more money on a product and defend a company for charging for it.

Re: Mario Kart World Has Been Updated To Version 1.1.2, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

dePaige22

@Suketoudara I agree so hard with the grand prix knockout tour being distinguished by intermission. Every mode just feels the same. I literally played through all the cups/rallies before time trial, and I basically had to learn almost all of the tracks because the regular modes don't actually use them, which is such a shame because there are some good tracks (screw sky high sundae though).

Re: Poll: So, What's Your Favourite Course In Mario Kart World?

dePaige22

As someone who is still playing through grand prix / knockout tour i don't feel comfortable answering this question as I don't really feel like I've experienced any individual course. Looking forward to time trials and vs mode to finally dig in as some of the tracks are really neat. For grand prix specifically I think the tracks shouldn't be connected, it makes the two modes feel too similar

Re: Gearbox's Randy Pitchford Admits Borderlands 4 Might Follow Nintendo's New Pricing

dePaige22

@electrolite77
CPIs are terrible indicators of general cost levels. Especially since they are aimed at the average consumer. Governments use them because they can just use them to push their political narrative. No good business is adjusting their prices based on CPI.

To be clear I'm not saying inflation doesn't impact gaming at all, but borderlands 4 was designed with a 70$ price mind. It having double the budget its just bad management and the company will end up in a bad spot once a single game flops if they just continue to double their expenses. Trying to say they need 80$ because of what xbox announced is greed. Not market dynamics. That 10$ will just go to profits, not the workers (who the industry has been layed off in droves) and haven't even seen pay increases to account for costs of living.

Re: Gearbox's Randy Pitchford Admits Borderlands 4 Might Follow Nintendo's New Pricing

dePaige22

@electrolite77 If you're using a basket of goods to adjust for inflation of something that isnt reflected in that basket (CPI or similar) then you have no economics background. Milk is still milk, electricity is still electricity. Tech has negative inflation due to innovations and improvements (you can't improve bread), but a 1tb microsd was 400 USD near the switch's launch, but I paid 120 USD for it last year because it gets cheaper to make things. SNES games were programmed at the assembly level in many cases, now we have engines that handle hundreds of things without a developers intervention. Long story short, please don't use those basic inflation calculators online, they fail to capture the complete impact of price changes.

Re: Gearbox's Randy Pitchford Admits Borderlands 4 Might Follow Nintendo's New Pricing

dePaige22

Don't see how inflation is valid for a 14% increase after we just had a 17% increase in the last 5 years. It's not like average dev salary has risen nearly that much. The cost of games going up is mismanagement and overspending on marketing. People arent complaining directly about the increased cost, it's the fact that their quality of life is decreasing as wages arent keeping up and discretionary spending is decreasing just so some executives can afford another yacht.

Re: Switch 2 GameCube Controller Compatible With Other Games, But There May Be Some "Issues"

dePaige22

@MamaSymphonia Piracy and emulation don't go hand in hand. Mama Nintendo has just brainwashed you. Even so, piracy has little to no impact. The amount of people willing to use emulators is small to start with and many of those are the super fans who have a whole wall of Nintendo games. The subset of this subset that actually pirate wouldn't have bought the game anyway so Nintendo isn't losing out.

Re: Here's Why Switch 2 Joy-Con And Pro Controllers Don't Have Analogue Triggers

dePaige22

@GamingFan4Lyf

I agree that's it's not always required but it gives developers more options and Nintendo usually solves this through having an interesting mechanic in their hardware. Its a different way to interact and control that doesnt require holding a button as you say. (Anytime i see hold for action I just wish controllers had more buttons) .Having the same setup as others is what landed us in this very standardized box of how games should operate. I just feel triggers are much more useful than things like HD rumble, nfc, or a touchscreen that you cant even use when docked. Part of it might even be i think its more comfortable to pull a trigger for FPS or hold for boosting etc). And it defintiely feels great for heavy attacks since you have to pull the trigger down and not just press another button. Gamecube took great advantage of them and if theres one company id like to see also have them its nintendo. Not surprised they didn't bring them back, but they also didn't even use hall effect sticks so I'm not going to pretend there was even a chance of analog triggers now or in the future.

As for ps5 I've seen some really good uses of them that added to gameplay like in ratchet and clank and Returnal, going back to the idea that being able to have analog control while both thumbs sticks is definitely useful. 3rd parties on the other hand have made me turn them off because they just get in the way sometimes.

Re: Here's Why Switch 2 Joy-Con And Pro Controllers Don't Have Analogue Triggers

dePaige22

@GamingFan4Lyf Apparently good ones? 40 years in gaming playing Madden and Cod lol (it's a joke calm down). Sorry you haven't had any good experiences but I can't believe the idea of more control is a bad thing. Hell, I wish there were 6 back buttons and a scroll wheel. Seriously though, you haven't played a single space game with these types of features? Pretty popular genre for AAA/AA let alone indies who stand out with unique control schemes. You can prefer digital but the idea that its only for a super specific use case is complete nonsense.

@mlt You must not have played any racing games with analog triggers then. The whole point of racing is testing how far you can push a turn before it gives out. Sure you can play racing games on switch, but you give up a lot of control and have to play with assists on, at which point the car might as well drive itself or play Mario kart.

Re: Here's Why Switch 2 Joy-Con And Pro Controllers Don't Have Analogue Triggers

dePaige22

@GamingFan4Lyf So you've never needed to adjust thrust while flying in space, control the energy of your laser to maximize power efficiency, control the intensity of a water flow to solve a puzzle, adjust the height of a platform while still maintaining control of your character, solved a lock picking puzzle by manipulating the trigger just right? That's just off the top of my head experiences that under digital triggers just become an interactive movie where I press a button and a script plays out, and others just aren't possible because you've reduced it down to yes/no press or need to give up control of the stick. Is it required, no, obviously the switch exists and work around have been made, but it isn't the same experience.

Re: Here's Why Switch 2 Joy-Con And Pro Controllers Don't Have Analogue Triggers

dePaige22

Analog beats digital unless you're just looking for more face buttons like a fighting game or maybe an online game that needs instant reaction times (at that point your internet latency is going to be the issue for most people not your finger on an analog trigger. This can be overcome with trigger stops like the pro controllers for other systems/3rd party. They're beyond useful outside racing (which they're basically required for if you want anything beyond arcade level control). They don't have to be a key feature, they add an analog level of control to any action you do that doesn't require moving your thumbs (for example how hard to pull a slingshot). Also for shooting games, it's literally a trigger. How much more immersion or perfectly designed control can you ask for. Did I expect it, no, the switch already ditched them and they would've added bulk to the joycons. But the amount of people saying they don't miss them is from those who've never seen them used (probably because they're too young or play a specific type of game). There's simply no other way to interact with games in a smooth, continuous manor than with triggers outside of analog sticks (which are already taken for movement and camera). With the logic I've seen above we should be using double dpads. And as ridiculous as that sounds, that's what it feels like to those of us who see the benefit of analog triggers. If they're digital, they're not even triggers, just a second bumper that limits the way gamers can interact with the game world). And for the record, pressure sensitive face buttons SUCKED.

Re: Switch 2 GameChat Choppy Frame Rate Explained By Nintendo

dePaige22

I just hope that the dedicated system resources are spared when it's completely closed. Resources are already scarce on a handheld so I definitely don't want it capped even further. I have zero intention of ever using the c button. If I did want to chat, I'd much prefer it on a separate screen. Seems like one of those cool in theory terrible in practice sort of things.

Re: Poll: Are You Bothered By The Frame Rate For Paper Mario: TTYD On Switch?

dePaige22

@MSaturn Huge difference between watching a videogame and PLAYING it, hence why lower frames don't bother people for movies and can actually be beneficial. 60 fps is just more responsive and feels better (more so in a 3d game where you pan the camera).

Personally, I'll still buy it since TTYD is one of my top 3 games of all time, but it's a significant downgrade and I don't understand why the devs can't just add an option for these things when the end users obviously want two different things
Does it look great and completely rebuilt, yes. Is there a complex physics engine, a massive amount of geometry, or underlying simulations to compute every second, no. Particularly in battles (basically the main reason I'm miffed about the 30fps) there's very little going on. The actual gap in power between the gc and switch is literally insane, we're not talking about just 2-4 times more powerful here.

I personally think they have to be incredibly inefficient to get this sort of tradeoff which is why I think it's such a big deal for most people and being discussed so much more than the regular 30 v 60 argument. The fact games like ToTK even run at 30 on the switch is incredible, but I'm supposed to lump TTYD in with those games and be blindly happy about it?!?

Hope everyone enjoys the game especially those whose first time it is (try to avoid guides!) but let's please stop pretending there isn't a readily noticeable difference between 30 and 60 (or even 40).

Re: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Switch Frame Rate Revealed

dePaige22

Definitely disappointing but not a deal breaker. I get it's a complete remake but is there really that much on screen compared to something like smash bros that this can't hold 60? I specifically wish battles were 60 due to the timing involved. Sure it looks great but so much better they needed to halve the framerate? The leap in technology vs what we're gettkng just doesn't add up for me.
