Re: Switch Online N64 Controllers Were Restocked Today, Did You Get One? (US)

daichi42

Meanwhile, we Brazilian NSO subscribers (probably all of Latin America), don't even have the chance to order any of the classic controllers, even though the Switch and the online services are officially available, costing 1.2:1 to their US dollar prices.
They won't let us import or pay for international shipping.
I'd LOVE to have the chance to fill an order when I see these news.

Re: Resident Evils 7, 8, 2, And 3 Are Coming To Switch, But There’s A Catch

daichi42

@WallyWest But that's my point. Resident Evil 2 on the N64 was the "impossible" port back then and they did make a miracle. It had lower resolution but also better aliasing. If you're interested watch how they did it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BaX5YUZ5FLk
I just wanted to see RE2 reprise that feat and become an impossible port again. It would be difficult? Yes. But it is doable? Probably. Panic Button did it for Doom 2016 and Eternal.

In the end Capcom chose the "easy" (lazy) way, but let's see how it goes.

@WallyWest Yeah, some people probably thought like that before Angel Studios fit an 1.4 GB game in a 64 MB cartridge + exclusive content.

I've played both Doom games on Switch and can say that my experience wasn't diminished because of the "sacrifices" made to run on it.

Edit: RE Engine does run on Switch, MH Rise is an example of that.

Re: Video: What Was Your First Video Game Ever?

daichi42

I was probably 4 so my memories are not accurate, but it was on the Atari 2600. Maybe Adventure, maybe Enduro, or Megamania, among few other possibilities.

All I knew about video games was reset at 9, when I played Super Mario Bros. 3 on my cousin's NES.

Re: Feature: A Pokémon Retrospective: Generation 8 – 2019 To 2022

daichi42

Personal opinion: worst generation so far. I play Pokémon since 1999.

  • Rushed main games.
  • No special versions, instead some boring DLCs.
  • Worst remakes so far, considering the originals were very good for their time.

This generation made me have low expectations for the future of the series.
Legends: Arceus was ok, but was also rushed nevertheless.
Seems like Game Freak don't mind polishing their games anymore (as people are buying anyways).

Re: Bandai Namco Appears To Be Remastering A '3D Action Game' For Nintendo

daichi42

I think I didn't undertand that quite right.
1. Is Bandai Namco working on a remake of a Nintendo IP?
or
2. Is Bandai Namco working on a remake of their own IP on a exclusive Nintendo contract?

I don't think it is Kid Icarus/Metroid Prime, there's no reason Nintendo wouldn't ask Sora/Retro Studios for that.
Could be Starfox Assault.

If it's number 2, then it would be difficult to tell.
Klonoa, Katamari, Super Robot Wars, Galaga, Xevious, lots of older Namco arcades...

Re: Poll: What Do You Think Of The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pass Price?

daichi42

In Wii U era Nintendo left my country and we had to create foreign accounts to play online and access eShop.
Sometime after Switch was launched, they again offered online services for my country, so when they lauched NSO I signed for the Family Plan, to use for my multiple accounts.

But now, I'll probably renew only for a single user account.

Re: Random: IGN's 'Best Video Game Of All Time' Tournament Is Getting WILD

daichi42

I only think it's fair when you compare games with others released around the same time.

Of course they will vote out older classics, most of the current gamer public are probably around 20 years old or less. What they're missing and probably weren't considering is the impact those games had at the moment they were released.

Tastes and technology have changed with time, so in my opinion, if you want to compare the overall quality of games from different eras, refer to the average review scores of trusted gaming media from their time and put them in a list.

Re: Zelda: Skyward Sword HD Players Report Language-Specific Glitch That Ruins The Final Boss

daichi42

I had a similar issue with Bravely Second. My 3DS menu was in Portuguese (game in English) and during the events of the final boss it kept softlocking on a black screen. The funny part is that it really fit what was happening in the game (if you played it you'll know).
Then somehow I found out and changed the 3DS menu to English, then got it solved.

Playing Xenoblade Chronicles on Wii U, for some reason it also kept crashing the game when I reached a specific place on Primordia. I found out that it was also because the system menu language. But as the game hadn't any interaction with the menu whatsoever, beats me why that happened.

Re: The First Review For Bravely Default II Is Now In

daichi42

Any reason they changed the artist from the two previous games, Akihiko Yoshida (three, if you count The 4 Heroes of Light)?
The illustrations and character models probably were made to imitate his style, but it isn't just right.

Also, the changes in the battle system from turn-based to ATB-like made the Brave and Default system kind of messy and unpredictable. I didn't feel compelled to finish both demos.
