Meanwhile, we Brazilian NSO subscribers (probably all of Latin America), don't even have the chance to order any of the classic controllers, even though the Switch and the online services are officially available, costing 1.2:1 to their US dollar prices. They won't let us import or pay for international shipping. I'd LOVE to have the chance to fill an order when I see these news.
@HalloHerrNoob Whoa, you just compared graphic tuning on video games with warp drive technology? You actually think it is the same kind of effort? Ok, let's leave it like that, now I know the kind of person I'm losing my time with.
@WallyWest But that's my point. Resident Evil 2 on the N64 was the "impossible" port back then and they did make a miracle. It had lower resolution but also better aliasing. If you're interested watch how they did it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BaX5YUZ5FLk
I just wanted to see RE2 reprise that feat and become an impossible port again. It would be difficult? Yes. But it is doable? Probably. Panic Button did it for Doom 2016 and Eternal.
In the end Capcom chose the "easy" (lazy) way, but let's see how it goes.
Remember when there was an effort to port Resident Evil 2 for the N64, and it is still remembered as one of the best ports ever made? It would be so nice if they made a similar effort for Resident Evil 2 Remake... The cloud version killed the hope I had.
I was probably 4 so my memories are not accurate, but it was on the Atari 2600. Maybe Adventure, maybe Enduro, or Megamania, among few other possibilities.
All I knew about video games was reset at 9, when I played Super Mario Bros. 3 on my cousin's NES.
Personal opinion: worst generation so far. I play Pokémon since 1999.
Rushed main games.
No special versions, instead some boring DLCs.
Worst remakes so far, considering the originals were very good for their time.
This generation made me have low expectations for the future of the series. Legends: Arceus was ok, but was also rushed nevertheless. Seems like Game Freak don't mind polishing their games anymore (as people are buying anyways).
I've been searching everywhere for a New Nintendo 3DS official battery (KTR-003), but I only find "compatible" products. Has anyone around here managed to find somewhere selling them?
@Dingelhopper I've only played XII recently on the Switch and absolutely loved it. It has its flaws but it was certainly ahead of its time. It still has some of the "old Squaresoft touch" on it.
I feel like words such as Triad, Trinity, Triple would fit along with another one and make it sound better.
Or even renaming the game and putting the current one as a sub title, for example, XXX YYYY: Triangle Strategy. That way a possible sequel with different gameplay thematic would be viable.
I even made some lame meme about it.
The Oracle games definitely would make sense, because they already have the base for them after Link's Awakening. Around July 2021 there were already rumors of the remakes being developed. These are the ones I'd pick.
@duffmmann Grezzo doesn't compare to BN, half of the games Grezzo developed are remakes/remasters, they practically live for that. Sora and Retro Studios are very close to Nintendo, closer than BN, if those games have an incoming remake, it is most certain they will be remade by them.
I think I didn't undertand that quite right. 1. Is Bandai Namco working on a remake of a Nintendo IP? or 2. Is Bandai Namco working on a remake of their own IP on a exclusive Nintendo contract?
I don't think it is Kid Icarus/Metroid Prime, there's no reason Nintendo wouldn't ask Sora/Retro Studios for that. Could be Starfox Assault.
If it's number 2, then it would be difficult to tell. Klonoa, Katamari, Super Robot Wars, Galaga, Xevious, lots of older Namco arcades...
@towerprincess Exactly what I came for. Odyssey should have Sarasaland! Or Diamond City from Wario Ware games! Of course, Daisy, Wario and Waluigi would appear too.
Loved the two for 3DS, couldn't get into this one. Changes in the battle mechanics and art style are among the reasons. I also feel it is graphically underwhelming for the Switch, still looks like it's a 3DS game.
In comparison I loved both Bravely games for the 3DS, finished both 100%, bestiary, etc, but the one on Switch didn't get me interested since the "beta" trial version. Some changes from the previous titles sure didn't help much.
In Wii U era Nintendo left my country and we had to create foreign accounts to play online and access eShop. Sometime after Switch was launched, they again offered online services for my country, so when they lauched NSO I signed for the Family Plan, to use for my multiple accounts.
But now, I'll probably renew only for a single user account.
Nintendo could give a chance to us from South America (and members of NSO) to buy these. Anyone from Brazil here who managed to buy the NES/SNES ones by other means?
I only think it's fair when you compare games with others released around the same time.
Of course they will vote out older classics, most of the current gamer public are probably around 20 years old or less. What they're missing and probably weren't considering is the impact those games had at the moment they were released.
Tastes and technology have changed with time, so in my opinion, if you want to compare the overall quality of games from different eras, refer to the average review scores of trusted gaming media from their time and put them in a list.
I had a similar issue with Bravely Second. My 3DS menu was in Portuguese (game in English) and during the events of the final boss it kept softlocking on a black screen. The funny part is that it really fit what was happening in the game (if you played it you'll know). Then somehow I found out and changed the 3DS menu to English, then got it solved.
Playing Xenoblade Chronicles on Wii U, for some reason it also kept crashing the game when I reached a specific place on Primordia. I found out that it was also because the system menu language. But as the game hadn't any interaction with the menu whatsoever, beats me why that happened.
I was already interested in getting it but now I definetely will, to do my part and show that we want more games in pt-BR. While we're at it, it would be nice if Switch had ABNT keyboard mapping. Most of what I write in Among Us for example is going out without the correct punctuation.
They could start with a more effective anti-hacking system. It's frustrating to have a room with an individual that ruins the game to everyone but themselves.
Any reason they changed the artist from the two previous games, Akihiko Yoshida (three, if you count The 4 Heroes of Light)? The illustrations and character models probably were made to imitate his style, but it isn't just right.
Also, the changes in the battle system from turn-based to ATB-like made the Brave and Default system kind of messy and unpredictable. I didn't feel compelled to finish both demos.
The list reflects in general my opinion about each game. I'm aware that BotW surpassed OoT as the best Zelda, and it really deserves #1. But deep inside, OoT the first Zelda I've ever played will be always my personal favorite.
Not really a big deal, but I hope Nintendo will put someone who actually speaks Portuguese to review the published content. Several times on 3DS and recently on Switch they would publish some content in Spanish for Brazilian accounts. This was last week: https://i.imgur.com/bZt2oq7.jpg
I think Martinet may be mistaking things.
He did voice Wario in western versions of Mario Kart 64. But the line used in Mario Party is the one recycled from the Japanese version of Mario Kart 64.
If he ever recorded the line "Doh' I missed" it never featured in the game.
Hear by yourselves: https://youtu.be/F-pyMhUB6I4?t=87
What about the 3DS graphics on Switch? And I'm not referring to the drawn style backgrounds, but the overall quality. Even Octopath Traveler seemed more visually attractive to me.
@mjharper I came to the comments to say exactly that. Xenoblade Chronicles X for the Wii U was the only game I remember that made me struggle with the text size. No, really, if they ever re-release it on the Switch it's the first thing they should put in the presentation video.

Re: Resident Evils 7, 8, 2, And 3 Are Coming To Switch, But There’s A Catch
@WallyWest Yeah, some people probably thought like that before Angel Studios fit an 1.4 GB game in a 64 MB cartridge + exclusive content.
I've played both Doom games on Switch and can say that my experience wasn't diminished because of the "sacrifices" made to run on it.
Edit: RE Engine does run on Switch, MH Rise is an example of that.
