Square Enix has rolled out a new update for its online multiplayer co-op game Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition on the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.
It adds skippable cutscenes in certain events and resolves multiple bugs in the game to improve the overall experience. Here are the full patch notes courtesy of the Square Enix support page:
Version 1.0.2 (Switch) Patch Notes
- Boss appearance sequences and Myrrh drop acquisition events in multiplayer mode are now skippable.
- Fixed a bug that makes unknown element hot spots marked as [?] visible after playing in multiplayer mode with another player who has already activated the hot spot.
- Fixed a bug that allowed players to gain infinite items.
- Other various bug fixes.
This latest update follows on from a formal apology by the game's director last month, who said the team would "try to put things right" after players reported multiplayer and connection issues. Since then, the team has attempted to roll out "rapid updates" to resolve these issues.
At the time of writing, the game still hasn't returned to Australia's eShop. It was originally pulled from this eShop at the start of September when players were reporting difficulties accessing the multiplayer feature.

Does it make the game less bad?
Every Final Fantasy Game has FINAL in it's name, so what would the final Final Fantasy game be called?
Just Final Fantasy (Roman Number here)?
FINAL Final Fantasy?
Just Final Fantasy?
THE Final Fantasy?
New Final Fantasy?
The Fantasy to End all Fantasies?
@HotGoomba well the reason it was called Final Fantasy in the first place was because it was potentially Squaresoft's final game if it didn't sell well as it basically saved them from going out of business. So technically the first could have been the last and the company's final fantasy of a game.
Game Director, come talk to me when you put out an update that adds local multiplayer.
@HotGoomba :
Final Fantasy: Epilogue or Finalest Fantasy.
@Zenszulu You know I WOULD have woooshed you (even though you probably knew I was joking), but that's actually very cool fact so I'll give you that one.
But like I really hope people realize that this was a joke, especially with our like ratio (0-4 as of now)
@HotGoomba Don't worry, it's 0-5 now. I actually would rather woosh you tbh, because honestly, who HASN'T heard of that factoid by this point?
@HotGoomba The last will be Final Fantasy MMMCMXCIX (3999), which is the biggest number that can be written using roman numerals.
I wouldn't say infinite items are a "bug" xD
Endless Fantasy is what they've should have called it.
I didn't experience any of these bugs while playing.
The only problem I had was my GBA would disconnect every now and again because it's so old.
Because I am playing the original because that one DOES HAVE multiplayer the way it's supposed to be.
Yes, I am still salty.
They didn't fix anything from multiplayer...
Typical Square Enix first fixing what is not broken and now had to fix what they had broken.
@Zenszulu Actually not true.
Physical release or GTFO
@Zenszulu plot twist: every final fantasy exists in the same timeline and final fantasy 2 through 16 are prequels to the first game: the true final fantasy.
