I’m not much of an RPG fan but really enjoying Xenoblade. Any recommendations?
Even though the remake of Trials is also on sale, Collection of Mana at $20 sounds like a decent price.
Oninaki 50% off (£22.49) sounds tempting
@Woodyshoe If you liked Xenoblade, I think you would like FF XII
@Bunkerneath Nah, I like the Xenoblade series a lot but imo FF12 is one of the worst FF
FF10 on the other side is great
I was waiting for FFIX to drop again, so I’ve picked that up.
I got oninaki, couldn’t resist this sale
Some incredible games there at some amazing prices
The only game I am interested in that I don't have would be star ocean.
@Woodyshoe I don't know. I like vii and ix but I also like rpgs. Honestly none of these are probably down your alley. Maybe try Torna the Golden country if you haven't played it. If you really want an ff I'd say ix if you like fantasy stories and vii if you're more info sci fi. X is very linear and not much exploring, so if you like XC you might not be into it.
Trials of Mana is great, in my opinion. Best Mana series game since Legend of Mana on PS1. It's been way too long for the series to get a good game, even if it is a remake.
@mariomaster96 Fair enough, I dont like 12 to be fair, FFVII to me is the best, but maybe just because of nostalgia
Good prices, but game-breaking bugs in FF7 really puts me off buying any more yet.
@Woodyshoe Do you mind if it is turn-based battle system? I really recommend you FF VII, IX and X, and Dragon Quest XI (try the demo!)
As for action RPGs, I really love Ys VIII (not from Square, though), and you probably like Trials of Mana (there's a demo of it as well, try it out).
Final fantasy 12 is a really high quality game , open world so much side content and post game content , the only reason its not as popular is because its different.
@Woodyshoe As others have said, the reboot of Trials of Mana might be your best bet as an XC fan. If you’re on the fence, there’s a demo. You should have enough time to play that and make up your own mind before the sale ends.
If you also like turn-based RPGs, then take your pick. Some are weirder than others (anything with Saga in the title), others are often felt to have story issues (FF VIII) - but there are few actual bad choices, and some of them are stone-cold classics.
Personally, I might finally grab Saga Scarlet Grace - I’ve been eyeing it for a while - and FFIX, which I am starting to accept I will never finish on mobile, even though it’s an excellent port.
C'mon Square Enix, remaster Star Ocean: Second Evolution already. I'm almost done with First Departure R and I wanted a remastered of the second game asap.
@Woodyshoe xenoblade 2
i snagged FF-X/X-2 as it has sat on my wishlist since i missed it in the last sale. fun fun FUN
also if any game needs a remaster it's PARASITE EVE. it's spoooky
I have all the ones I want from that list already to be fair. A fair few of them as well.
Oh, and all very good!
I was enjoying FFX but then I came to a section of the game where I had to play 'blitzball' and that mini-game can go suck an egg. I might pick up FFXII, it has a very MMO kind of feel to it.
Are Lost Sphear or Star Ocean recommended? I'm on the fence.
Clicked because of the flashy thumbnail, whoops. Sorry Riesz or whatever your name is.
@Woodyshoe The Mana collection might be right up your street. It's light on plot but deep on combat. Secret of Mana is one of the best 16bit games ever made.
buy Final Fantasy IX if you haven't ! it's my favorite Final Fantasy
Welp, time to play Oninaki! Blows my mind that Tokyo RPG Factory games are so expensive. This sales price seems perfect though. This sale coming off the heels of the capcom sale and the recent releases of crisis, paper mario and DP2 gives me something to do for a few months while I wait for Nintendo to tell us something about their fall plans.
Very tempting, but I definitely don't need more JRPGs right now. XD Besides, most of these go on sale every few months.
Weird that Dragon Quest III isn't listed.
I'm personally waiting for Trials to get under $30, but there are some good deals here!
@Woodyshoe The reason I ever got excited for Xenoblade in the first place was because it looked a lot like Final Fantasy XII in terms of gameplay, so definitely that.
Couldn't pass up on Collection of Mana at $20!
Time to check out Romancing SaGa 2, which as I understand it was a hybrid of an RPG and a kingdom management sim? That's so up my alley...
Anyone has opinions on Star Ocean First Departure R?
I'm a fan of SNES RPGs but hadn't the chance of playing it before.
Is this remaster worth it?
where is my sale for the last remnant
@Woodyshoe final fantasy would be a good one. Xenoblade has some of its qualities.
Good. Trials remake to me personally is a letdown. I expected more. I couldn't be bothered to go in the buildings and talk to people.. and small fields outside.. felt annoying. It's what it is. But no sale from me
@Woodyshoe Persona 5/P5 Royal light years ahead of square PS4 greatness
@Woodyshoe if you havnt played final fantasy 7 8 id get them! Absolutely awesome games. Just give them a go and you will be happy you did
I still think FFX and FFXII is over priced. This should had been its starting price.
@e-love
I love IX, and VI and VII, but lately V is becoming a top contender for me. What a great game, and the ability learning is a cool mechanic. Feels like multiclassing in DnD
@Woodyshoe If you really enjoyed Xenoblade, FFXII will be right up your alley.
@Woodyshoe Trials of Mana and Dragon Quest 11 s.
Bought trials of mana on day one. Didn't get to it until after I finished final fantasy 7 remake. It's definitely a dip in quality compared to ff7 but still a great game that feels so much better the further you get. It is light on story, but the combat feels so good. Don't be discouraged by the easy difficulty in the beginning, the difficulty hits a huge spike around the 3rd or 4th boss, and from there, it's a reasonable challenge for the remaining of the game.
@Bunkerneath @mariomaster96
@mariomaster96 You'll find some that actually think FF12 was one of the best ones. Just depends on tastes.
I thought it had great world building, great side quests, engaging combat that is what FF7R should have used (gambits to actually make AI controlled characters better and more useful). etc.
Thanks everyone for the advice, I’m looking trials of mana and it’s cheaper physical I get to trade it if I don’t like it. FFVII is a great price so will pick it up. The rest will go on my watch list and see if they get discounted again in the future.
Got almost all the main FFs except FFX-X2... is the crow-like laughing worth it?
Might get Collection of mana
@mariomaster96 FF12 is far better than FF10, in my book. Best FF title released after FF9, incredible game. One of the best narratives, too. Most FF games have "baby's first RPG" storylines, very simplistic, and FF12 is such a massive step up. Not a surprise, considering the guy behind FF Tactics, Tactics Ogre and Vagrant Story is behind it.
