The attitude from a lot of the people on this post is exactly why Nintendo fans can't have nice things. Just because a game COMPANY doesn't support your ideology for selling games and participating in the market shouldn't mean that you ignore developers who are under the EA banner who put out awesome content. I owned both Need for Speed and Mass Effect on Wii U and they were both top notch ports. Yes XBOX and PS got the Trilogy, but those systems sell way more units of Mass Effect. You can't expect a company to take a risk on a system when the fans constantly complain and won't buy content because they're butthurt over other systems getting special bundles/editions because they have a history of selling well on those said systems. This is capitalism, not gaming socialism, and we need to support good content and stop whining if we want good content on our system. Does this mean we need to support bad games? No, absolutely not. But when we get a game like Need for Speed on our system which was billed as the best version at the time then we need to get over petty gripes that we have with a publisher and support the devs who put in that effort. Medal of Honor Heroes 2 with 32 player multiplayer on Wii was awesome and I didn't care about the graphics because me and my brothers had so much damn fun playing it. Boom Box was also a fun innovative game that I enjoyed on Wii. And if we're being honest here I also miss the Madden's and Fifas on Nintendo systems so this crap with the Nintendo community holding onto grudges has to stop. End rant. Also, if that "major game" at launch could be Battlefield 1, that would be awesome EA. A World War 1 shooter(that I've been begging for) would make much more sense than trying to sell a Fifa or Madden in March.
If the Switch has a customized Tegra X2 in it, it will be able to compete with the PS4, especially when docked. Laura Kate Dale already reported that she has sources saying the Dock will provide extra processing power. You brought up heat and power supply and the dock could provide solutions for both of those problems. Nintendo said they will be covering specs at the presentation so we shall see then.
Also, let's point out that it's labeled as a presentation and not a direct. With the media and analysts being invited it seems like it's going to be a stage presentation!
Nintendo never charges the same number amount because of currency conversion. You don't even make sense. My original post was made about $$$ American dollars and you started talking about 400 pounds? Lol
Uhm I said the right bundle for $400 if you actually read my post. I believe a bare bones sku could go for $300 but I could see myself and others going after a premium bundle. Also if it has a custom Tegra X2 inside, that would justify the price alone. Having a PS4 level console at home and on the go would be a tempting sales pitch from my perspective.
This thing is being released in March, so obviously they aren't going for the casual, mass market crowd right out of the gates. Based on the trailer, they're going after millennials and people with disposable income. Christmas 17 will be when it's marketed towards the masses.
For third parties, we've already seen more support announced for the Switch than Nintendo's last three consoles. The fact that Bethesda, EA, and Square Enix are all(back) on board speaks volumes. You can bring up the Wii U all you want, but the Wii U didn't make this big of a splash when it was announced. Couple this with it supporting Unreal Engine 4 and other top end engines and the writing is on the wall.
For Nintendo games we already know Zelda:BOTW and a new Mario are on the way along with MK and Splatoon(Remakes?). Zelda at launch will be enough to sell a lot of people, especially if there is healthy third party support to go along with it.
If it has a custom Tegra X2 in it I'll shell out the $350-$400 for it on day one for the right bundle. The people who are trying to say they won't pay more than $200 for it are the same people trying to justify a $500 PS4 VR for Christmas. Give me a break, people are willing to shell out $700 every two years for the new iPhone but Switch "is doomed" if Nintendo prices it at $350 and it's supposed to last 4-5 years AND compete with MS and Sony? The logic of some people just amazes me.
Well the math would dictate it would be lower than 24% because that included tablets, smartphones and pc's. So probably around 12%. You have fun being an "elitist", I'll have fun knowing that I dont need multiple gaming consoles to enjoy life.😁
But the Nielson data I posted above states that only 24% of households have more than one console and that includes smartphones, tablets, pcs, etc. so the amount of people that own two DEDICATED home consoles from the same generation is lower than that. Please read my posts before you reply. Thanks 😀
The only reason I said that was because someone said "you must not hang around working class people who can afford two consoles" and "do you hang out with people from the soup kitchen?" But im the bad guy? LMAO
Damn and the Nielson data actually proves my point even more. It states that 24% said they own more than one console, but that includes tablets, pcs, phones etc... So going by that data the people who own two dedicated consoles from the same generation is significantly lower than what I even thought. Checkmate.
Well if you did your research you would find out at that time only 53% of households owned a home console according to Nielson and Pew which shows that things haven't changed much. Uhm and the ESA data is from 2016 so I don't know what you're talking about? I guess high school grads aren't into the whole data and facts thing?
Nielson and Pew's research from 2012 basically shows the same data and results. Nice try though
@Utena-mobile
I was talking about dedicated home consoles, in which you admitted the data for that WAS included in the article. So if only 48% of households have a dedicated home console, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that households that have two from the SAME generation is significantly lower. I would bet money it's way lower than half and the odds are with me. This is hilarious. Move along
Once again read the article. I'm in the majority and you're in the minority. Nothing wrong with that it's just I wanted to point out that owning two HOME consoles is not as popular as the author of this article and many on here would like to argue. Facts are great.
The first line of your link says that it's factoring in smartphones 😂 My link had the data for "dedicated home consoles" and that's what I was explicitly talking about. Nice try though
I "don't live around the working class"?? Dude I have a college degree from a state university and make $70,000/yr. LMAO A lot of people that I live around and hang out with have loads of disposable income, but when you have that kind of money and are working having two consoles is kind of pointless. I hardly have time for one console, so I would never have time for two. Having a PC on the other hand is a NEED(especially when your in business), so beefing it up for gaming can be justified.
And how did I know that I was going to get a bunch of people on here saying "Capitalism, I have two consoles, I have two consoles!" Yeah it's the same thing I see on gaming sites all the time. Now I'm not saying EVERYBODY doesn't have two consoles but for the most part when somebody in the gaming community wants to seem "cool" and "prove" the're not a fanboy we get the same old line: " I have two consoles so you can't call me a fanboy." Or its "I'm not a Nintendo hater, look I have a Wii U and a PS4!" I'll just leave this little article down below. Only 48℅ of the population owns a DEDICATED home console for gaming so the people who own two or more are definitely in the minority. And I'm talking about consoles from the same generation for the geniuses who brought that point up. Also, I wasn't talking about dedicated handhelds either because they can be grouped in the mobile sector which is being dominated by smartphones. Hence why we have the Switch.
I don't know the right people? LMAO! I guarantee I know more Nintendo gamers than you bub. I've been around since the NES days. They have PC's yes (for SOME third party games) but not a second console. NOT ONE OF THEM
I'm so sick of the "Nintendo consoles have to be the second console in the house" line. We've been hearing it since the Wii generation and since Nintendo is getting past the Wii branding it's about time gaming journalists get over this overused line of BS. No one I know in the real world has two consoles. NO ONE. Even my most "hardcore" gaming friends have a PC and one console. The only place I hear of people having two consoles is here on the internet and we all know how people are about telling the truth on the internet. PS2 was the weakest of its gen and did you hear gaming journalists screaming from the hilltops that the PS2 should be positioned as a second console? If the Switch has a custom Tegra X2 chip in it I would be more than happy to shell out $350 for it and maybe even more for the right bundle. It would essentially be a PS4 at home and on the go, especially in the dock. I believe the two SKUs at launch will look something like this:
Basic Model: Switch Console, Dock, and Joy-Cons for $300
Premium Bundle: Switch Console, Dock, Grip, and Pro controller for $400
If the Switch has a customized Tegra X2 in it it's anything but weak. We're talking PS4 graphics good. Also did you not see the graphics yesterday in the trailer? Doesn't scream weak to me.
Actually Laura Dale reported that the dock might provide some extra processing power. She said it's either that or the console(tablet) does upscale and has more processing power and performance when docked because of the extra power supply. And she's usually pretty reliable and supposedly her source is coming from Ubisoft.
Laura Dale reported that she was told the screen is a touchscreen, but will only be used for drawing, browsing, and an option for games when it's out of the dock etc. She also said when it's in the dock IT WILL have more processing power. Whether that's the dock providing more power or the console itself running at a higher power because it's in the dock is yet to be determined but it goes with Nintendo's patent about a supplemental computing device being on the Switch. On topic I thought the presentation was excellent and the Switch has been all over social media with people being really excited about it. Nintendo definitely hit it out of the park.
I don't think third parties would be as excited as they are if it was based off a X1 chip. It's old tech and Nintendo would have to sell the thing for $200 or under for them to move units and I don't think that would bode well for the image of the console. Couple that with Ubisoft saying "NX will put Nintendo back in the race" which points to this thing having some power behind it. Also the official NIVIDIA statement says it uses a GPU that's architecture is based off high end GeForce graphics cards. Its gonna be pricey, but im willing to shell out the cash for a powerful, competent hybrid. I think we're going to have a winner here.
I don't think third parties would be so excited for it if it was using a X1 chip so I think a customized X2 chip with Paschal technology is a safe bet. If that's the case it will be a damn powerful hybrid. PS4 level graphics at home and on the go anyone?
Great news for the Switch! This is why we're seeing third parties excited about bringing over content and I think that will translate into more sustained support in the long term. This is also why we kept hearing that "it's a dream to port to" before the reveal. And if this thing has the Tegra X2(customized of course) in it we're looking at a pretty beastly hybrid. PS4 level graphics at home and on the go anyone? And if the dock doesn't add any extra horsepower as suggested by the rep then I see it working like this: When the Switch console is in the dock the console will run at full power and will have extra fans to cool it down and more memory and ram available. When it's taken out of the dock it runs at a lower mobile mode so overheating and battery drain aren't that big of a problem. We shall see but that's what I'm thinking.
Seeing Skyrim on NS was an awesome sight. Good to know that EA is back on board too in which I would love to see Battlefield 1 on the console. Activision will probably bring Call of Duty back in which I've actually missed it and they better bring back pointer controls because the joy cons are screaming for it. Overall I'm very impressed by all the third parties already on board. Let's keep them here Nintendo.
You hit it out of the park Nintendo! The console looks great, has an awesome name, it was a great presentation, and omg Bethesda on a Nintendo console!!!!!!!!!!! I can't contain the hype!!!
Finally some concrete info!!! It's going to be hard to sleep tonight!!! I just want to see the console, it's name, and a date for the full blown reveal. Throw in a sizzle reel and we're golden.
It will be tax time here in the US so actually everybody will have a bunch of cash to spend.
On another note: Kimishima needs to be fired/replaced if we don't get a reveal soon. If they're waiting this long to delay it they're really in some deep poop.
And if we're not hearing about NX because of Nibelsnarfing Pokemon I(and a bunch of other fans) will be livid. This poop is ridiculous and this is coming from one of the biggest fanboys you'll ever meet.
Awesome news if true and I'll be there day one whenever it releases. They'll keep it exclusive as long as NX is selling, plain and simple. Anyways, Nintendo you need to reveal this damn console as I have friends who keep asking about it but also have money to spend and are contemplating other systems. I wouldn't wait too much longer.
I can't believe Nintendo is really waiting for Paper Mario to release to announce NX. Dont get me wrong I'm going to get Color Splash but I'd wager that most of the people who are getting NX on launch day were going to pick up the game regardless. Especially when it's the last first party game on the system. I believe Intelligent Systems deserves some respect for their hard work, but waiting to announce a console because of one game is crazy. I'm one of the biggest Nintendo fans out there but this wait is frustrating. Yeah we get it, other tech companies wait until the day before to announce their product but they also release new hardware every year. And yeah we get it you don't want the competition to steal your ideas, but keeping your fans in the dark for so long could backfire too. Just give us the date.
By any chance do you live by Toledo? We have a new D&B opening at the end of the month so that's why I'm asking. That's crazy if so.
On Topic: I fondly remember playing Crusin' games at the bowling alley on Friday nights when my parents would bowl and I loved those games. Rush was another good one. Good times. I'm happy D&B is getting it and I expect the local Chuck E Cheese will get one too. Works out perfectly for me since I can either get drunk and play it or party with my kids and play. With that said it would be awesome to get a console version. So Nintendo, if you're listening, please bring this to NX.
Hopefully Ubisoft can fend off Vivendi because poop usually goes down the tubes when there's a takeover and honestly I like Ubisoft just the way they are. Yves saying that Nintendo will be back in the race is a good sign as I believe Nintendo did the right thing and made the machine powerful and easy to port to. And yes this pretty much confirms a home console in my eyes especially with what other third party devs have said about the system. Anyways, I've always loved Ubisoft and their games and they've always been loyal to Nintendo throughout the years so I'm definitely pumped for what surprises they have in store for us. Assassins Creed, For Honor, and BGE2 would make my day for sure.

I don't think third parties would be so excited for it if it was using a X1 chip so I think a customized X2 chip with Paschal technology is a safe bet. If that's the case it will be a damn powerful hybrid. PS4 level graphics at home and on the go anyone?
Re: Unreal Engine 4 Will Be Supported on Nintendo Switch
Re: Nintendo Confirms List Of Third Party Supporters For Nintendo Switch
Seeing Skyrim on NS was an awesome sight. Good to know that EA is back on board too in which I would love to see Battlefield 1 on the console. Activision will probably bring Call of Duty back in which I've actually missed it and they better bring back pointer controls because the joy cons are screaming for it. Overall I'm very impressed by all the third parties already on board. Let's keep them here Nintendo.
Re: Gallery: Let's Take a Look at the Nintendo Switch
Looks sleek, modern, and sexy just like @HeroOFTime32 said. Even my wife said it looked hi tech and sexy.
Re: Say Hello to the Nintendo Switch, a New Concept for Gaming
You hit it out of the park Nintendo! The console looks great, has an awesome name, it was a great presentation, and omg Bethesda on a Nintendo console!!!!!!!!!!! I can't contain the hype!!!
Re: Preview Trailer of the Nintendo NX Confirmed for 20th October
Finally some concrete info!!! It's going to be hard to sleep tonight!!! I just want to see the console, it's name, and a date for the full blown reveal. Throw in a sizzle reel and we're golden.
Re: No Strategy Briefing Planned for Nintendo's Q2 Financials - NX, 3DS and Mobile Updates Still Expected
@Yorumi
Re: Rumour: New Beyond Good & Evil Title Set to Be A 'Semi-Reboot' and NX Exclusive
Re: The Man Behind One Of YouTube's Most Famous Characters Talks Nintendo NX
Re: Cruis'n USA Sequel Coming To Arcades In 2017
@freaksloan
Re: Guillemot Praises NX Again as Ubisoft Shareholder Meeting Ends Without Vivendi Intervention
