Re: Talking Point: NVIDIA is the Latest to Pitch Cloud Gaming - Could It Be Key to Nintendo's Future Hardware?

capitalism

@gatorboi352

I can't believe we agree on something but I totally agree with you on Cursed Mountain. Loved that game.

On topic: I called cloud gaming/storage a week or two before the NVIDIA presentation at CES. Only three more days!!!

Also I'm getting the feeling that I'm going to have a brand new shield TV and Switch sitting side by side on my entertainment center for all my gaming and entertainment needs. Wouldn't it be crazy if the Shield TV was the SCD for the Switch!!?? One can dream!!

Re: Poll: One Week to Go - How Are Your Nintendo Switch Presentation Hype Levels?

capitalism

The last time I was this hyped for a console reveal/release was the N64 so I hope the big N blows us all away come next Thursday night. Man I remeber reading about the N64 in GamePro and talking about it with all my buddies at school. Good memories. The Wii was very special to me as well but I found out about it a month or two later because I had been out of the gaming scene for awhile when it released. Looking forward to games, console features/specs and online functionality. Cannot wait!!!

Re: RiME Developer Confirms May Release for Nintendo Switch Download

capitalism

Looks beautiful and I look forward to seeing more. And I don't care if we get downloads/digital versions for all games coming to the Switch. I obviously know there will be retail games on cartridges, but the point is if we're getting good games, we're getting good games. Man people can be really fickle and picky and then we all wonder why we can't have nice third party games on our system. "I'm not going to buy this game because they're not selling it in a box even though it's a good game" just sounds really petty to me. And before we start talking memory, let's wait until the 12th πŸ˜‰

Re: GameStop Joins In With Premature Nintendo Switch Pre-Orders in Europe

capitalism

Hahahahaha looks like all the people that wanted a $200 "second console" are SOL. That's what happens when you're impatient and expect Nintendo to sell a home console for a handheld price(Nintendo has said Switch is first and foremost a home console). Best believe if this is true the usual whiners and complainers will be out in full force. Just wanted to warn everybody. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Anyways $399 was right around what I expected to pay so if true then it sounds good to me.

Re: Feature: Hopes and Dreams for Nintendo's 2017

capitalism

1. Nintendo is making bank with mobile titles, nes classic, and amiibo

2. Nintendo has plans for TV shows and movies

3. Nintendo is about to open theme park attractions on multiple continents

4. Nintendo has sold over 60 million 3DS consoles and Sun and Moon are at the top of the charts right now

5. Nintendo is releasing the first hybrid console out of the big three in about 2 1/2 months

And.......we still have people saying Nintendo is on the brink of being doomed and not being considered one of the big three anymore. Give me a break. You're not being cautious, you're all being pessimists/haters and spouting the overused and false "nintendo is doomed" line as usual. And it's coming from all the usual suspects. End rant.

On topic:
My wishes are....(not in any particular order)

1. Expansive online overhaul on the Switch(this includes system wide voice chat). Bring it DeNA, we know you can

2. Good marketing

3. Retro's new project, whatever it may be

4. Big name third party titles

5. One new Nintendo IP on the Switch even if its just announced

Only ten more days guys! The hype is real!!!!

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Switch VR May Have High-Profile Support from Capcom

capitalism

@OptometristLime

I can guarantee I'm more "affluent' than you bub, but nice try. I have a degree and work at a fortune 500 company which I guarantee is more than what you can claim. I think it would be smart to hold back on saying you're more affluent than somebody when you know nothing about them. I just choose to not spend my money on multiple consoles every generation because I don't have a complex of wanting to be a superior "hardcore" gamer. Also, a bunch of the pessimists on here choose to believe every bad rumor so that argument can go both ways.

Re: Hype Builds as Nintendo Switch Advertisements Continue to Appear in Stores

capitalism

@Azooooz

Not worth it. He's the biggest downer/pessimist/naysayer on here and rarely has anything nice to say about Nintendo.

On topic: Zelda would be awesome at launch, but then again Mario is supposedly going to be there day one so I think they'll spread the releases out especially when considering third parties. Zelda has been a major part of the marketing though so it could go either way. Maybe that Zelda demo will be there at launch but we shall see.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Switch VR May Have High-Profile Support from Capcom

capitalism

All these people on here talking about OBE1's credibility when they have no credibility themselves. I'm more inclined to believe OBE1 before I believe the usual pessimists/downers here on Nintendolife spouting the"Nintendo Switch can't be powerful" BS. It sounds like we have a bunch of PS fanboys who are butthurt that Nintendo fans won't have to spend $800 to experience VR and that the Switch will have some power behind it. Sorry you won't be able to get a $200 "second system" because you impatient brats wasted your money on a crap console over the holidays. Get over it.

Re: More Nintendo Switch Rumours Emerge Online

capitalism

Has anybody ever thought about cloud storage? Could that even work? If so Nintendo could charge for it and it would solve the problem of games that take up a lot of space. The memory on board and SD cards could be used for games you want to take on the go or want permanently on the system.

The record button on the left joy con is very intriguing and exciting. Could they possible go the ONLIVE route and have streamings and recordings that you can watch and comment on in real time? Basically a suped up and live version of the Mario kart channel. Would be so dope.

Voice chat is hopefully system wide as I want it for Splatoon and other competitive online games. Nintendo could make it for friends only on system wide and games like Call of Duty could use their own. DeNA could definitely make it happen.

Re: On Nintendo Switch Power, WSJ Tech Writer Pitches in With Alternative Details

capitalism

@yomanation

Yes I do actually but do you know anything about business and negotiating deals? πŸ˜‰ My main source is NVIDIA themselves so you can know about hardware to the moon's end but that doesn't mean you know exactly what is in the Switch. Way to end on a snarky comment bro, it looks like you're looking for a reaction like you always do. Oh well I tried.

Re: On Nintendo Switch Power, WSJ Tech Writer Pitches in With Alternative Details

capitalism

@yomanation

I think you're missing the point here. Yes I know that there aren't 1440p TV's, but there are 4K TV'S that could take advantage of the extra resolution, and for me, that would be great since I have a 4K TV. And the FOXCONN employee leak/rumor thats linked in this article states that the system WILL be able to handle full 4K gaming/streaming and the architecture inside is way more powerful than a Tegra X1. Now like I said, that might only be possible on smaller/indie/ported/remastered games and Streaming services like Netflix but I would still be totally happy with that. That also might mean that demanding games might only run at 1440p instead of full 4K and I'm fine with that too. On the subject of the adoption rate of 4K TV's, Forbes has research information that states that by the end of this year 1 in 8 people in North America will own one and by 2020 half of the American population will have UHD TV's. There's also research data that shows the adoption rate for 4K TV's has been even quicker than what the adoption rate for regular HD sets were. Sony and Microsoft obviously thought the market was ready for it. We shall see.

Also, my phone that I'm typing on right now has a 2K screen, and Switch is a home console you can take with you on the go so you can see where I'm going with this.

Re: On Nintendo Switch Power, WSJ Tech Writer Pitches in With Alternative Details

capitalism

@PlywoodStick

And once again I will believe what NIVIDIA said on their blog, marketing fluff or not, before I believe anybody else until we find out for sure on the 12th. Laura Kate Dale and developers have also stated that Switch will have a X2 in it so there's rumors on both sides of the argument. And that $250-$300 mark is what YOU would prefer, but that doesn't mean Nintendo can't release a $350-$400 console. If it has a good amount of power and it's innovative, I would have no problem paying that. Or like I said before Nintendo got a REALLY good deal. We shall see.

Re: On Nintendo Switch Power, WSJ Tech Writer Pitches in With Alternative Details

capitalism

@PlywoodStick

Uhm but my source is DIRECTLY from the NVIDIA blog, not "venture capitalists." It's coming directly from the horse's mouth. The WSJ employee above is respected though and what he said meshes with what NVIDIA has revealed so far. I will take NVIDIA and Wall Street Journal over Venture Beat and Digital Foundry any day.

In regards to the Switch's price with a customized X2 in it, it was widely reported that Nintendo struck a very lucrative deal with NVIDIA to get the chips cheap because NVIDIA wanted to get in the console market very badly. Also NVIDIA said themselves that the relationship will last for "decades" so with a commitment like that from both companies it's highly likely that Nintendo will get very lucrative deals from NVIDIA for years to come. NVIDIA knows that Nintendo products always sell in the millions, so with volume alone NVIDIA is able to offer chips to Nintendo for lower prices.

Re: On Nintendo Switch Power, WSJ Tech Writer Pitches in With Alternative Details

capitalism

@PlywoodStick

"Nintendo Switch is powered by the performance of the custom Tegra processor. The high-efficiency scalable processor includes an NVIDIA GPU based on the same architecture as the world’s top-performing GeForce gaming graphics cards"

This is straight from the NVIDIA blog. I don't care what Venturbeat said, Switch will probably not have a X1 in it at launch because it'll be using Pascal architecture proven by the mentioning of "based on the same architecture as the world’s top performing GeForce graphics cards." My money is still on a customized X2 in the final unit.

@yomanation

Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't 1440p look better on a 4K TV than 1080p? Because if it does I would sure enjoy games that took advantage of it so they could look pretty on my shiney new 4K TV(yes I know 1440p is not 4K, it's more like 2K). I understand it would probably only be smaller/indie games but I would still enjoy that upgrade when possible.

Re: The Nintendo 3DS Has Now Sold More Units In Japan Than The PlayStation 2

capitalism

Oh, but I thought "Nintendo is doomed " and the Switch will be their "last chance to save themselves?" The 3DS is a success, the Wii was a success, the DS was a success, but we still have butthurt PS/Xbox fanboys who want Mario on their console telling us "Nintendo is on the brink of collapse and will never make hardware again if the Switch doesn't sell a bazillion units." Anyways this is a huge milestone and long live Nintendo baby!

Re: Yooka-Laylee's Wii U Cancellation is Only Due to Technical Challenges, Not the System's Woes

capitalism

@SharkAttackU

Nintendo will never go mobile only. They're a very conservative company and they like to control things. Always have and always will. I believe they'll pour their mobile profits into console development/games which means bigger budgets and better games for consoles. I see mobile more as a casual/marketing strategy than a complete shift by Nintendo and this has been echoed by Nintendo themselves. Theme parks, mobile endeavors, and being more lax with licenses in other mediums points to Nintendo expanding their marketing strategy which will only help drive their console business. Only people from Push Square that have nothing else better to do like to push the "Nintendo is doomed" and "Nintendo is going third party if Switch doesn't sell by the billions" narrative because they want to see Mario on their PS4 and will kick and scream because they know it will never happen legally. Switch is already getting a ton of public attention so it's future looks bright, but even if it did bomb Nintendo has the cash and the brand to stay around in the console space for a long time so long as consoles are still profitable. They don't have to sell 70 million consoles to be profitable either. Also, do we already forget that Wii was the most popular console of all time and the DS/3DS line has sold hundreds of millions of units as well? Nintendo is not Sega and Nintendo will be just fine.

Re: Yooka-Laylee's Wii U Cancellation is Only Due to Technical Challenges, Not the System's Woes

capitalism

Just last night I was thinking to myself how I would rather have this game on my brand new Switch than my Wii U so this is the best possible news in my opinion. If it would of came out for Wii U and not Switch, I honestly wouldn't have bought/played it because my Switch will be getting all the attention by the time April comes around. Who wants to play a last gen console when you just bought a brand new one? Now granted I didn't invest in the Kickstarter so I don't have any sour grapes there, but as other have stated even Nintendo has ignored/abandoned the Wii U in its last month's of life so I see the devs' rationale in this.

I also understand that some people won't have the cash or don't want the Switch at launch and that's why the devs have offered Wii U backers that are in that situation other versions(PS4, PC XBOX). Now if we have to wait another six months for the Switch version then I'll start getting pissed, but I have a hunch Nintendo went to them and convinced them that porting it to Switch would be easy and the best case scenario for both parties. Nintendo gets to showcase an awesome Indie game in their January presentation and Playtonic gets to be on the Switch near launch.

Re: Super Mario Run Could Influence The Future Of The Series, Claims Shigeru Miyamoto

capitalism

What I got from this is when Super Mario Run or Animal Crossing Mobile generate a bazillion dollars from a bazillion downloads that will give Nintendo more money to invest in the console titles. Nintendo will be much more willing to give us a full fledged, online Animal Crossing that we've been dreaming of on Switch if it's mobile counterpart has a bazillion downloads. Food for thought.

Re: Video: Watch Jimmy Fallon Play Breath of the Wild on the Nintendo Switch

capitalism

Fallon was seen explaining the Switch to someone at a Cavs basketball game today so his excitement is definitely genuine. Watched this live last night so I was geeking out just like Fallon when it was revealed. This was great advertising for Nintendo and the whole segment was great. Looks like that analog triggers rumor turned out to be true too πŸ˜€
