So they took PokeRogue and turned it into DLC. I can only play that for a day or two before going to something else so I can't imagine I'll enjoy this DLC. I haven't bought a single one for any of the Switch Pokemon games for different reasons; Sword/Shield was so boring I never want to return even tho I'm told the DLC for the games are pretty solid, Scarlet/Violet were the most fun but I read you have to do the 1st pack before you can do the 2nd and I only want the other academy, and now this is just a rehash of a browser game without any extra love put into the surrounding areas. Bummer
Victor Vran runs worse on S2 than the Switch at the moment. It has frame drops in single player and can stutter hard on local multiplayer. Kinda bummed
@Flatlinerking Sorry to hear about that. I saw on the reddit that was happening to folks and that sucks. Luckily my only problem has been terra morphing when my game has to load otherwise its been pretty smooth, after the first week of release. The first week was kinda rough but their updates have been going well. I've been loving the gyro update since its made the mining game and aiming a bow way easier. I think what bothered me the most is how close to satisfying the combat is and its why I want them to update the melee weapons to chain sides like fists/hammers. Maybe if enough people bring it up they'll find a way to add that, and if they do, I can easily sink another 100+ hours into this. I will say that is a boon to modern gaming, even if the game starts rough they can fix it. Old games were just broke forever
@Strumpan These are happening because the companies that are making and selling these technologies are in the market saturation phase. They want their product to be the next mainstream thing so the best way to go about that is combing things that were originally limited to your imagination and skill set to make them actually happen. By combining things like popular movies/video games/tv shows they make their product seem more appealing to those who don't actually understand how said products work, aka art/ip theft, and a ton of energy.
@Strumpan Time, especially in the States. People who are unable to learn how to make art due to time constraints are the reason AI is made for this. Unless they are able to make it financially viable, most people will choose the easier option for making things because they feel they don't have time to learn how, cause money rules our lives here. If we aren't able to make money off of it we're told, "don't do it."
The other side are people with ZERO creativity; shareholders, CEOs, other upper management types, etc. All they want is the end product or thing, they have no idea how it actually comes together, so they want these AI tools since they allow for the fastest result. You just type in a single line and the AI is creative for you, no effort like you said. For those unable to be creative or for pure profit, AI can't be beat.
@Flatlinerking That's fair and you are right. Normally I'd be a lot better about my game choices, but after they listened pretty well in the first game after feedback I was hoping they'd do so again for this game. They have implemented gyro aim and stick sensitivity adjustments when people mentioned them so maybe after a few updates they will have addressed main concerns and problems of the game, but having not seen anything on reddit or their game map I'm not going to hold my breath.
yeah I should have got rune factory but the devs listening last time and cool robots blinded me
@Flatlinerking It is my problem, that's why I complained. I feel better now. I did play the demo and submit feedback, including chaining different melee weapons together besides the fists/hammers.
I LIKE robots and mechs, that's why I want the games to be good, and there are fun mecha games; Megaton Musashi, Armored Core, even Dynasty Warriors: Gundam. The last few Gundam games have had super meh combat with limited moves per suit unless you play the Taisen games. I've been excluding all RPGs since I like them by default so its not fair to skew them verses the action based ones. I just want the devs to remember; these things are made of metal and HEAVY. I just don't want the combat to be monotonous or feel like they're made of paper, that's it.
And again, feel better now that I've voiced my piece. Sorry for bothering you.
The bosses are reskins, there's no news of performance patches, and I bought this full price to support the game on the cart. Ow. The biggest killer for me is the repetitive melee combat. Considering they're half your weapons, they all just do one set of actions repeatedly besides the fists, and there's no flow if you try to use any 2 together. I wanted to love this, I really did, but like with a lot of other mech games, they make the combat unsatisfying.
@Dm9982 I have played the first 3 games as well its just...1 was a rental that got overshadowed by something else, 2, I could only play with my younger brother so we only beat the game and that was about it. We liked the Pre-Sequel but when we bought it the new systems came out and we switched to PS4s then. I might have to dig up my old 360 and see if we can get together to finish it. I tried 1 recently but its just too slow by the other games' comparisons now. It feels like you're in molasses lol.
If my client and I don't get 4 we might try 2 so thanks for reminding me. I think I have to be Axton again so I get a taste of what it was like to play with me as Moze after the patch. But if Gaige is useless too then I can still be my mech person and feel like I'm just baggage cause I felt terrible how brutal Moze's suit became after the scaling patch. We were on level 4 bonus difficulty (VHM?) at the same pace pushing when they patched the suit to scale and maybe adjusted it's aim assist. Next thing we know I'm using the Terminator to erase everything that walks in front of us. My client was Amara and just started climbing in my turret to feel productive. It was funny, but terrible.
@Dm9982 The spells were super fun and added a lot of needed variety to playing through the game. My only issue was I wanted a few more whimsical spells, making an area of enemies bounce up or give them big heads, things like that. Summoning barrels, fish, or marshmallows and yeeting them at people is pretty funny tho. Plus the dual-classing really adds a lot and they balanced them pretty well. My client and I loved the story and even when one of your advisors goes full Murder Hobo, they explain why they do, and we felt 1000% more invested in them then we ever did the Calypso Twins. We loved the game and I hope you enjoy it too.
(slight spoiler; there's a really nice message at the end of the game that just makes you feel good)
@Dm9982 As someone who put a lot of time into 3 and WL, with no prior D&D experience, I found WL to be the better game overall. Yeah the endgame is stiff, besides bosses you get 2 different rouge-lite modes and one is paid DLC split into sets...that just aren't worth it unless you get them on HUGE sales. Every character combo tho has unique and fun things that make the game engaging. After all the patches and DLC to 3, Moze is so far ahead of the other characters in terms of general playablitly; they have tons of health, their mech scales to the difficulty, and it just takes a single shield or weapon change to focus on groups or bosses. They can trivialize the game depending on who you're playing with and that makes things boring by the end, trust me lol. WL is the better playthrough but BL3 has way more to do after you beat the game.
Call of Duty is a copy of Medal of Honor (from the original devs own mouths) that uses a modified Quake engine. Its a copy that WAY exceed the sum of its parts and will make number one sales numbers by the end of the year again, or at least top 3. League of Legends was made IN Warcraft 3 right? They used all of that games assets and coding to make their game then redid it with a fresh coat of paint.
And that's what Nintendo is afraid of. They used the raw assets (lets not lie, some of those Pals were straight pokemon fusions) and the Pokemon name's weight to make their game, and they might start selling more if they can fully finish Palworld. They aren't worried about Digimon because they shoot themselves in the foot by challenging Pokemon constantly instead of focusing on Pokemon's lull months.
This feels tricky. Totally get why they want to protect their stuff from such a blatant use of their property, but the overreach is just killer. Like with the Mordor Nemesis engine, great idea, only used in 2 games and now it does nothing. That concept is now locked off as an option for making games which helps no one.
@MasterGraveheart I had this issue with Hades during a system update years ago. I believe I had the digital copy on my SD card, deleted the folder that held it on my pc, and then went to the e-shop to redownload it. I might have cleared the data as well for the physical copy on the system. Hope this works for you.
Are we supposed to have the Nintendo News app? Did they pile all the games into the app while the Direct was going on and that's how people are supposed to know? Is that what Nintendo wants, for us to have the news app or else we're confused why certain incredible games are left to a sizzle real?
@SillyG A lot of old games were designed around CRTs when certain effects were needed. One of the biggest examples is Sonic the Hedgehog; the waterfalls act/look different depending on if you played on a digital screen or old tube tv. And as @KaiserGX showed, even character models are different when displayed on a newer screen for certain games. The idea is to perfectly recreate older games for those who want the closest to authentic experience without having to buy and risk a bunch of old equipment I think.
2k is a massive publisher of games with several of their hits being on the switch. They pushed up B4 which will be on the Switch 2 and pushed back GTA6. The educated guess is that they're going to use B4 to tide people/investors over until GTA6. If that is the case then this news is tied to Nintendo because its directly affecting the release date of other game(s) that will be on Switch/2.
So thanks for the info and painting the bigger picture
With the storybook games I understand. They're just a day in the life of Sonic. Neither one takes Sonic longer than a day to finish and I don't think he gets any upgrades that would matter like the light speed shoes or even something like Chip's bracelet. They don't have a reason to be mentioned cause that's an average thing for Sonic. The shows and that might be from Sega's perspective, advertisement for the Sonic games, which is why they aren't going to be included.
I have a generally tougher time in my games compared to others due to my luck. Crits against me, rare attack patterns, accuracy less than 100%, dodges, all working against me more on average than most. It took me 10+ hours to get 4 mag boosted disk launchers on XCX and 40+ hours to soft reset a shiny turtwig on BD. I know your pain friend.
@John_Deacon Certain things will be boosted just because of more efficient hardware; load times, frame rate stability, pop in, and a few other things. Otherwise, things have to be coded with an update cause the newer hardware is physically different so they have to tell the game what parts can draw more and where the info is now going.
@johnnymind Personally I would recommend 4 if you ever wanted to try Tony Hawk games. The game has free roam to get used to the controls and the first 3 levels have repeatable events to teach you the basics of the games. After playing that it makes the other games easier. And if you grew up in the 90s the soundtracks are stellar. Hope you are enjoying your games. I'm still waiting for XCX
I'm still holding on to my theory that Nintendo/TPC are actively refusing to put older games on the Switch due to the early models getting hacked. They have been doing a lot to remove hacked pokemon from the games and I think this is one of the things. It's the only thing that makes sense cause old pokemon games would sell NSO options and why would they pass on easy money.
Yeah I don't see why this person is so upset. It's not like they spent 3 years developing a game, had some loser use AI to steal everything from it, and then one of the biggest game companies on Earth, who is famously litigious about their IP, silently ignored their attempts to reach them about a blatant game theft on their marketplace...
A simple solution would be to discount the games for NSO members with every tier getting you better discounts, plus giving you a free choice every year when resubscribing or during your birthday. Update the apps to allow you to play your owned games without connection.
I still haven't been able to finish the tutorial in Civ 6 on the Switch. It soft locks when you have to buy a unit and I can't figure out how to get past it. Whereas the tutorial for Civ 4 is the most quaint and relaxing time I've had in a while. Civ 6 does have some slowdown in later eras on the Switch so if they can add the rest of the missing content to Civ 7 I might get it cause from what I've seen and heard it looks unfinished.
I wonder if this is to save money from license fees? If they mention Retro Studios do they have to pay them to do so? That might be why they give such generic credits for non in-house games.
Truth be told, without the leaks I would have been kinda confused on certain parts of the Switch 2. The joy-cons being sideways just looks like they're showing them off, not inherently showing they can work like a computer mouse. The 2nd USB-C slot I would have confused for them putting buttons on the bottom for a few seconds, thinking it was just the USB-C slot again. All the trailer managed to show was it's bigger, the dock and kickstand are different, and the joy-cons got slight upgrades. And a Mario Kart tech demo. It didn't feel like the have fun Nintendo of the Wii or Switch. It reminded me of the Wii U for serious gamers vibes. "We have mature titles" so take us seriously.
It's almost like there are multiple countries. Each with their own set of rules of how to deal with things like trademark or copyright. And if there were a company that operated though all these countries with a store front, I think talking to them after trying to file a lawsuit across these countries and getting nothing would hurt.
Luckily we live on Earth where there's only one set of rules everyone follows for these things...oh wait.
On the actual game list, I still own most of these. Once you recognize only 5-6 cards have real value in the early games, they lose interest pretty fast. I'm going to wait for the DS game compilation since those ones have a lot of deck variety and options.
@bobby_steurer Wizards of the Coast sent the Pinkertons, a violent anti-union group, after someone who got a set of cards in the mail early. They showed up to his house. It was beyond excessive.
I noticed, by reading the article, he says the art "teams." As in all the artists were micromanaged. My question is; he's only credited in the 3rd game, what were the other 2 games like in development? Were they also flying in from overseas cause personally that's a waste of gas. Even then we had plenty of ways to communicate long distances without flying across the entire planet so it seems really wasteful, doubly so if it's just to say, "make them purple" or "fix their pauldron by 2 pixels to the right."
And thanks for the article with a different perspective. It's nice seeing different takes than usual and it's fun to see sides of gaming history you wouldn't normally hear about.
@EarthboundBenjy Thank you for that it is appreciated. I completely missed their other links and I've been on the internet too long so I jumped to the worst immediately.
@EarthboundBenjy When you said "Extremely NSFW" I thought you meant something else. Checked out their media tab and all I saw were pinups. That being said I find their art hilarious looking I just don't care for shmups so the game wasn't for me anyway.
Wow. They don't fear death at all cause they know they'll just respawn. Luigi is so casual about the one like "Knock it off Bro we have a job to do. Quit dying and slowing us down." That's amazing. And it kinda explains Luigi's fear of ghosts, "If I come back from dying, how come they didn't?"
I only realize now that playing Ruby/Omega Ruby these problems weren't as pronounced because you would be dealing with fire/ground types from Team Magma so having a constantly available stream (heh heh) of water pokemon available is a benefit. That and I'm a bit of a power leveler so more exp from fights is a good thing to me so the pacing of the water sections didn't bother me but I understand why people hate it, it slows your overall progress way down for a while.
@Rooty Part of that is due to Lugia being designed by Takeshi Shudo who wasn't part of GameFreak but the main driving force behind the anime. They were designed to be motherly but after the movie came out it drove Shudo into a depressive spiral that unfortunately they succumbed to. It can be personal to a lot of people.
As someone who got the game it was pretty fun until the Megaton 2 difficulty. Then it becomes a boring slog of slamming your head against a wall until something breaks. Level 5 still hasn't figured out decent end game difficulty.
@AJWolfTill I feel like they won't until the next system because they don't want people hacking gen 1/2 Pokemon on early Switches. A really dumb reason I know but they have been doing everything they can over the years to remove hacked pokemon from the community (a lot but not really) and this feels like the perfect dumb reason to hold bringing them over when we all agree it would lead to a LOT of people subscribing for their online.
@missingno_fgc @ArcticEcho I think that's a side effect of games coming from the Wii, a 480p console. If I remember correctly 1080 is around 16x more data than that so the average compromise seems to be cut the frames in half. I don't like it either but I don't have a solution, not a developer.
Honestly with Microsoft and Sony blowing their feet clean off after their new system releases Nintendo has probably started coasting to prepare for an upcoming crash.
I wanted one just for the Wii U pad style but I ultimately didn't when I realized what makes the Wii U pad/pro setup so comfortable is the buttons and sticks are still slanted like every other controller style. These are straight up and down so they would never be as comfortable. Glad I avoided them
@kendomustdie thanks for the update. I have to check now if any integral parts of Unreal 3 are tied to frame rounding. Might be why aiming feels worse if the frames drop like people have been saying.
@GOmar They may be talking about QOL things that should have happened like aiming being better or the puzzles being less monotonous. These were issues I had with the original while playing. Certain puzzles just needed one or two less steps cause they served no purpose story wise.
Played it during the 1.2 to 1.3 updates and it ran fine for me then. It was the first game in a while I 100% completed. I enjoyed it a ton and I'd love to try the new modes once all the updates are out. Also it seems weird to complain about the guy who helped pioneer the franchise and genre for bringing things with him from the games he's worked on. Guess you won't be trying that ReFantazio then since it has things from Persona.
@OorWullie If it is a 99 game I'd guess Zelda or Metroid. Those 2 would mesh well with that idea. And with my point I wanted to say with everything I've seen here like a Switchverse or the like, Nintendo has been very slow with Switch 2 things so maybe let's not get our hopes up here. A 99 game or something like that seems more plausible.

And if you grew up in the 90s the soundtracks are stellar. Hope you are enjoying your games. I'm still waiting for XCX
Re: How Would You Rate The Pokémon Presents Showcase For February 2025?
I'm still holding on to my theory that Nintendo/TPC are actively refusing to put older games on the Switch due to the early models getting hacked. They have been doing a lot to remove hacked pokemon from the games and I think this is one of the things. It's the only thing that makes sense cause old pokemon games would sell NSO options and why would they pass on easy money.
Re: "They Stole The Whole Game" - Horror Indie Dev Fights The eShop Scam Blatantly Ripping Their Work
Yeah I don't see why this person is so upset. It's not like they spent 3 years developing a game, had some loser use AI to steal everything from it, and then one of the biggest game companies on Earth, who is famously litigious about their IP, silently ignored their attempts to reach them about a blatant game theft on their marketplace...
Re: Hideki Kamiya Wants Nintendo To Reboot Virtual Console For Switch 2
A simple solution would be to discount the games for NSO members with every tier getting you better discounts, plus giving you a free choice every year when resubscribing or during your birthday. Update the apps to allow you to play your owned games without connection.
Re: Video: We've Played Civilization VII On Nintendo Switch - Here's 15 Minutes Of Gameplay
Re: Nintendo Believes In "Giving Proper Credit" After Backlash Over Donkey Kong Country Returns HD
I wonder if this is to save money from license fees? If they mention Retro Studios do they have to pay them to do so? That might be why they give such generic credits for non in-house games.
Re: Talking Point: Did All The Switch 2 Leaks 'Damage' Nintendo Or The Console's Reveal?
Re: Unpacking Dev Says Nintendo "Hasn't Responded" To Reports Of Copycat Games
It's almost like there are multiple countries. Each with their own set of rules of how to deal with things like trademark or copyright. And if there were a company that operated though all these countries with a store front, I think talking to them after trying to file a lawsuit across these countries and getting nothing would hurt.
Luckily we live on Earth where there's only one set of rules everyone follows for these things...oh wait.
Re: Every 'Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection' Game Boy, GBC And GBA Title Officially Confirmed
On the actual game list, I still own most of these. Once you recognize only 5-6 cards have real value in the early games, they lose interest pretty fast. I'm going to wait for the DS game compilation since those ones have a lot of deck variety and options.
Re: Every 'Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection' Game Boy, GBC And GBA Title Officially Confirmed
@bobby_steurer Wizards of the Coast sent the Pinkertons, a violent anti-union group, after someone who got a set of cards in the mail early. They showed up to his house. It was beyond excessive.
Re: Random: Metroid Prime 3 Dev Left Retro Studios After "Unhealthy Relationship" With Nintendo Micromanagement
Re: Bullet-Hell Shmup Refused Classification In The West Over 'Expression Restrictions'
@EarthboundBenjy Thank you for that it is appreciated. I completely missed their other links and I've been on the internet too long so I jumped to the worst immediately.
Re: Bullet-Hell Shmup Refused Classification In The West Over 'Expression Restrictions'
@EarthboundBenjy When you said "Extremely NSFW" I thought you meant something else. Checked out their media tab and all I saw were pinups. That being said I find their art hilarious looking I just don't care for shmups so the game wasn't for me anyway.
Re: Random: Have You Ever Triggered This Rare Super Mario Galaxy Dialogue?
Re: Random: Now Pokémon Is Getting Its Own 'TCG' Rip-Off On The Switch eShop
@drypaphmrbro Thank you, I couldn't remember her name for the life of me.
Re: Random: Pokémon Fan Crunches The Numbers To Settle Alpha Sapphire's "Too Much Water" Debate
Re: Random: Now Pokémon Is Getting Its Own 'TCG' Rip-Off On The Switch eShop
What's even worse is that art is based on a real person. I can't think of her name but she's the Gamer Girl Bathwater person.
Re: Pokémon Gold And Silver Celebrates 25 Years With Commemorative Plush
@Rooty Part of that is due to Lugia being designed by Takeshi Shudo who wasn't part of GameFreak but the main driving force behind the anime. They were designed to be motherly but after the movie came out it drove Shudo into a depressive spiral that unfortunately they succumbed to. It can be personal to a lot of people.
Re: Level-5's Mech RPG 'Megaton Musashi W: Wired' Lands Online PvP Mode In Upcoming Update
As someone who got the game it was pretty fun until the Megaton 2 difficulty. Then it becomes a boring slog of slamming your head against a wall until something breaks. Level 5 still hasn't figured out decent end game difficulty.
Re: After Almost 30 Years, Japan Finally Has A New Best-Selling Pokémon Game
@AJWolfTill I feel like they won't until the next system because they don't want people hacking gen 1/2 Pokemon on early Switches. A really dumb reason I know but they have been doing everything they can over the years to remove hacked pokemon from the community (a lot but not really) and this feels like the perfect dumb reason to hold bringing them over when we all agree it would lead to a LOT of people subscribing for their online.
Re: Video: Tales Of Grace f Remastered Showcases New Gameplay, QoL Features And Includes "Over 80 DLC"
@missingno_fgc @ArcticEcho I think that's a side effect of games coming from the Wii, a 480p console. If I remember correctly 1080 is around 16x more data than that so the average compromise seems to be cut the frames in half. I don't like it either but I don't have a solution, not a developer.
Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Latest Financials Make One Thing Abundantly Clear
Honestly with Microsoft and Sony blowing their feet clean off after their new system releases Nintendo has probably started coasting to prepare for an upcoming crash.
Re: Switch Accessory Firm CRKD Is Launching A Rather Unsavoury 'FOMO' Scheme
I wanted one just for the Wii U pad style but I ultimately didn't when I realized what makes the Wii U pad/pro setup so comfortable is the buttons and sticks are still slanted like every other controller style. These are straight up and down so they would never be as comfortable. Glad I avoided them
Re: Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition Confirmed For Switch
AAGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! YEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!
Re: Review: Shadows Of The Damned: Hella Remastered (Switch) - Cult Shooter Returns As Fun-But-Flawed As Ever
@kendomustdie thanks for the update. I have to check now if any integral parts of Unreal 3 are tied to frame rounding. Might be why aiming feels worse if the frames drop like people have been saying.
Re: Review: Shadows Of The Damned: Hella Remastered (Switch) - Cult Shooter Returns As Fun-But-Flawed As Ever
@GOmar They may be talking about QOL things that should have happened like aiming being better or the puzzles being less monotonous. These were issues I had with the original while playing. Certain puzzles just needed one or two less steps cause they served no purpose story wise.
Re: Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night Update 1.6 Arriving On Switch Next Week
Played it during the 1.2 to 1.3 updates and it ran fine for me then. It was the first game in a while I 100% completed. I enjoyed it a ton and I'd love to try the new modes once all the updates are out. Also it seems weird to complain about the guy who helped pioneer the franchise and genre for bringing things with him from the games he's worked on. Guess you won't be trying that ReFantazio then since it has things from Persona.
Re: Nintendo Asks Switch Online Playtest Program Participants To "Not Discuss Or Disclose Content"
Re: Nintendo Asks Switch Online Playtest Program Participants To "Not Discuss Or Disclose Content"
I hope no one is too bummed when it's just another 99 BR game with one of their IP. Don't have a lot of hope for Nintendo for this
