What I love about Nintendo presentations is that you can watch them around the end of the working day here in Europe and that you don't have to stay up for something really disappointing like with most Sony ones (not that I imagine this to be disappointing).

@nessisonett 17 quid is very much an impulse purchase for most people. Staying with your food comparison, there are at least 1-1.5 million orders on takeaway apps per day in Britain and you would imagine a lot of those are impulse orders and people spend on average more than 17 quid.

This game comes across as way too American for something Bond related

Octopath is definitely one of those series where I don't mind if they keep making very similar games, especially when it comes to the music. Octopath does have some of the best BGM in the genre.

Having seen some clips from the dialogue from some of the non Myles characters (as well as Myles) means I probably won't pick this up unless you can either skip everything or turn off both dialogue and subtitles. I can see past some of its other supposed shortcomings but not that.

To put the Metacritic score into perspective - this is around the score of Final Fantasy XIII which a) was beautiful (still is tbf) and b) is considered a bit of a black sheep. Wouldn't surprise me if MP4 ends up being seen as the same long term

@DennyCrane I am. I might play it at some point but study least for now I'm happy to give it a miss

@sikthvash The game is giving me vibes from God of War mostly which makes sense given there was an overlap in personnel here and that is simply not the type of game I am interested in, good as it may be. Listening to what Alex said at the end of the video as well as what other reviews are saying has more or less confirmed this is unlikely a game I would enjoy (well enjoy more than others I could play instead).

Listened to Alex's thoughts in the video which has unfortunately confirmed that I have no interest in this game anymore. No doubt the game is good but it gives me vibes of a Sony exclusive rather than a Nintendo exclusive

@Beetoe I'd agree with that. There is a good reason the strongest initial negative reactions came from Britain and the rest of Europe and the strongest positive reactions all came from the US

@DTFaux Well to me that depends on who you ask - to me it's just something that doesn't make sense which is of course very subjective. And to an outsider, talking about breast sliders in video games probably falls into that category as well (it would to me). It's the sort of stuff I would prefer not to see but as I said if you want to do that sort of stuff you can do that.

@DTFaux @DTFaux Well to me, the whole "X is a queer icon" when X is just a fictional character is always a bit weird and especially when it does become sexual it does go into weird territory. As I mentioned, people can do this sort of thing (they can even draw sexy Gardevoir if they like) but once you get to the point where you get an article about it on a mainstream gaming website, there will be some people who just find it weird.

@DTFaux I think the main thing is that these thing just often do not make a lot of sense and especially when it goes into sexual territory (which these mostly don't) it does come across as quite odd (and I should note that I am gay myself so I have come across these sort of things numerous times before).

Of course people can do whatever they like just like people can perceive things however they like.

Every single time I see anything from Tiktok I am happy I am not and will never be on that platform because even as a gay man I have no idea what is going on there and where it comes from.

@Dev-N Some people weren't even checking the tracks on offer. I had lobbies very decisively turn down Rainbow Road

People are saying "oooh it's such an easy fix, just make separate lobbies" as if a lot of people don't want a mix of 3 lap races and intermission tracks.

But prior to this patch in a higher rated lobby you'd get no intermission tracks at all as everyone would vote random. But they are an integral part of the game if you like it or not (and to be honest, I much rather drive to Koopa Troopa Beach and do a lap there than driving around Koopa Troopa Beach 5 times)

Quite happy about this change. Personally, I was hovering at around 8.4k which is quite high and 9 out of 10 races I played were three lap ones which eventually got very boring as a lot of them aren't balanced around having 24 racers. At some point I intentionally tanked my rating into the high 7k and voila - 60-70% of my races had roads in them which is how it should be given thats the distribution of tracks in the game.

As the article says, most people probably won't notice it. I've watched a few videos on it and I have to say whilst the people who made the videos said it was super noticeable it was very faint unless they slowed down the video

Lost in Cult are also charging £60 for a physical version of Thank Goodness you're here so quite clearly there is a trade off

@kCaracal Germany or any other country has no law that regulates this and there will be plenty of cases where the emulators or the hardware used to dump a cartridge breaks copyright laws.

But this is an edge case anyway - it's very rare that emulation is used in that way despite everyone insisting that's how they do it

Never thought it was possible to feel as much physical pain as I did in the 30 seconds I watched of this. Don't know how anyone can deal with the barrage of American voices of which non fit the characters at all
