Ahead of the launch of Monster Hunter Rise on Steam next week, Capcom has released a new trailer highlighting the PC version and some new features.
There'll be screen filters (Black & white, Sepia, Japanese Style, Warring Lands Style, Cinema Style), ultrawide display support, high-res textures, uncapped framerate and various other customisation options. The game also promises to be more vibrant than ever before.
If you are thinking about jumping into the PC version of the game on release, keep in mind - Capcom has previously stated how it's unable to implement cross-play and cross-save, so you'll have to start from the beginning again.
On the plus side, the Switch version of the game will be receiving the official Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak expansion in Spring this year.

What will Switch do....
When will Capcom remember that they had a main number series of this franchise? It's like they're focusing on spinoffs from here on out.
Couldn't care less about filters.
@Specter_of-the_OLED I think games like World and Rise are the main games now. They just like the idea of dropping the numbers so that potential new players won't feel like they're behind or whatever shrug
@Specter_of-the_OLED its well known that Numbered series suffer a sales slump the higher the number it gets. People not willing to buy into a series late in its run afraid to be missing something.
So to avoid this issue instead of numbering the future Monster Hunter releases in the main line series they have turned to subtitling it instead. World is offically Monster Hunter 5 and Rise is officially 6. Numbered monster hunter will not return best your gonna get is maybe a World 2 but id put my money on that being subtitled different possibly with World still in the Title alongside a secondary title.
There hasn’t been a numbered monster hunter since 4 and we have seen them have a huge successful run with the subtitled runs that have followed with Generations selling well, World selling massively and Rise selling Very well too.
These are not spin offs (Stories was and Generations was considered a fan celebration spin off.) World and rise are the beginning of Modern Monster Hunter and with the success of both it would honestly be dumb to go back to the old school numbering system.
Is the switch version still heavily populated? Thinking of getting it back again at the end of the month but no point if I'm not finding many people joining my missions
@UltimateOtaku91 of course it is. and it will be highly populated until the next title releases. bro, its MH!
@Blackrosewaifu9000 Not really, there's still the Sunbreak DLC coming.
@UltimateOtaku91 Yep, maybe even more then the pc version.
@Blackrosewaifu9000 Dude i'm loving this profile pic.
These better come to the Switch, with a low resolution pixelated filter as an exclusive. lol
@Blackrosewaifu9000 they havent remember theres a big expansion coming for switch version around june time frame with 30+ old and new monsters along with g rank quests.
If this had cross save and play I'd be on it like a shot.
The lack of cross save is a real shame, can’t imagine it’s technically that hard, but maybe they don’t want to cost/effort of keeping a cloud save transferring server up and running? Just feels like a missed opportunity given Witcher 3 has it!
@Grackler sw another poster here say that it isn't hard IF it was planned for early and built in while developing the game. It's much harder when the game is complete.
Where's my banjo kazooie already
@Specter_of-the_OLED Rise is a "main" or "numbered" game now though (at least according to Capcom). But without the number
@Williamfuchs420 World is 5, but since Rise is made by the other team, it's likely it wouldn't have been called "6" if they still used numbers. But since they don't, that doesn't really matter.
@Grackler sadly it is not, especially not afterwards.
People asked for the same thing in World, that game also didn't get cross-saves.
@Specter_of-the_OLED Monster Hunter World and Rise are both considered generation 5. Monster Hunter World kicking off the gen is considered Monster Hunter 5, and Rise is a side spin off.
Each gen has a unique feature they introduce. 5's is the open world nature of the maps. 4th gen was all about vertical leveled environments. 3rd gen was underwater environments. 2nd gen was day/night cycles and seasons.
Personally I felt that the gameplay in Rise drastically improved over World and should be considered it's own generation. Especially since climbing, palamutes and wirebugs introduced new ways to traverse. But if they did that World and Iceborne would be the only gen 5 titles where most have around three or four per gen. So Rise and Sunbreak will round off gen 5 and the sequel to World will most likely be the start of gen 6.
Imagine be so idiotic to wait more than a year to play this game because your "pcmustardrace" mentality.
@CorvoRevo
waiting to play a game on a platform you prefer playing doesn't really sound idiotic, some people prefer playing on certain platforms.
i personally prefer playing games on switch (as long as performance is fine), but i can see how someone would want to wait for a game to come out on what they prefer especially if they are planning on investing a lot of time into it.
I don't mind not having cross play as much as I care about cross save. I don't have the time to start it over
Filters will come to Switch too, not that I could ever imagine playing with them.
My concern is cross save. No cross save, no buy. I'll stay on Switch. Not redoing 500+ hrs, HR205, just for higher resolution, and being stuck on one screen for the privilege.
Guess they don't care about the 8 million Switch players double dipping. So be it.
@CorvoRevo yes imagine being so idiotic to wait for a game on Switch, instead of already being able to play it on a different system.
Do you see how stupid this does sound?
Each to their own, I played Rise on Switch and fully finished it but decided to get it on PC because I am not getting Subreak on Switch, I have my reasons.
But with World I patiently wait until it came to PC, didn't want to play it on PS4 for many reasons, so I guess I am a idiot now?
If someone prefers a certain platform to play games on, then let them be, I tend to do that with some games and it goes both ways nowdays, waiting for a PC version of a existing game, or waiting for a Switch version of another, each to their own.
I agree with what @Mgalens said
P.S. don't go the "pcmasterrace" route, just because a very small group of people act so doesn't mean every PC gamer is like that, it's silly and sad you went that route with your comment.
Because we could also start about all these "Nintendo elitists" out there too...
Each platform has this kind of people you can ignore, and lowering yourself to a level of acusing all gamers of a certain platform (your comments does that) just because some people are like that, is silly and sad (to put it VERY nicely)
Play the damn games, no matter on what system and when.
@JaxonH the same happened with World, people wanted cross save when that came to PC, but that never happened.
The only recent example I remember was with Generations one-way moving of your save to Generation Ultimate on Switch, because the games used same saving method, seems that is not the case with World between platforms and now with Rise.
I highly doubt the Switch GPU can handle this...
@gojiguy
Unless for some arbitrary reason, Nintendo decides to use the full capabilities of the Tegra X1.
@Grackler
I'm with you man, I waited to buy it because my friends all have PC, and because of voice chat.
But I'd still have bought it on switch if I could transfer my save.😐
No. the horrible tablet is too under powered for that.
or anything else above 720p/30 fps. lol.
@Mgalens It is, because this is a NINTENDO site and your fav platform SHOULD BE a Nintendo console. Otherwise, why you are here exactly ?!?!?!
@CorvoRevo
someone can own a nintendo platform, enjoy said platform and still be critical of aspects of said platform.
the same way people can be critical about aspects or games in a franchise while still being a fan of said franchise.
in the case of MH rise iirc it was known or suspected that the game was going to get a pc port down the line and i can think of a few reasons why someone may want to wait such as either their friends planning on getting the PC version or them not being too fussed about handheld play so they would have no problem waiting for a version with improved framerate, especially with an action focused series such as MH.
its a case of people weighing up each version of the game and what they are looking for then making a conscious choice based on the information they have, which seems like the opposite of "idiotic"
