Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The Nintendo Direct Mini?

Zeldawakening

Now it’s time to speculate what the big first party game of the year will be (beyond animal crossing)...Mario strikers? Pikmin 4? Star fox racing/unannounced retro project? Super Mario party 2? Metroid remastered/pikmin 3/3D world? Breath of the wild 2? Something new? Lots of options, I think Nintendo is still figuring out what will be ready by holiday.

Re: Talking Point: Jargon-Heavy Xbox Series X And PS5 Reveals Vindicate Nintendo's Approach

Nintendo’s switch reveal trailer also was about 2 minutes long as well, even with brief reveals like Mario odyssey, keeping people interested in what it can do without overstaying it’s welcome. The games are the most important reason to buy a game console after all, so showing the games goes a long way. I feel like the big consumer push will happen in the summer rough 5 months before November, which means Microsoft and Sony are still finishing up the lineup for what games will make launch. Even Nintendo kept most of the spring and summer games out of the initial reveal (close to the chest) until the second direct in January 2017. Specs seem to be more for the developers to encourage them to finish developing in time for the launch window and the die hard fans that are going to buy one anyway. After all, Sony did not call it’s video the PS5 reveal but instead the road to the PS5.

This is a relief, but it appears that this will be an update to NSO...does this mean that other games like Splatoon 2 will be applicable to this as well? I feel like it will just be a console wipe and full restore feature

Also, is this once per subscription term (aka if you subscribed for one month of one year)? Lots of interesting questions still remain, but it is nice that Nintendo is doing at least something about this!

Re: Xbox Boss Doesn't See Nintendo As A "Main Competitor" In The Next-Gen War

While I agree that Nintendo is not a competitor to Xbox (it is a complimentary product), I think Playstation is a competitor that is taking a slightly different approach (as consumers would hope for competitors) to get the consumer dollar. I think a powerful offline console can still compete with a powerful cloud, as it is all about the games at the end of the day. I haven’t seen any pure cloud games that can only run in the cloud (except the disaster known as crackdown 3)
