Update: Warface is now available on Nintendo Switch worldwide. We've updated this article with more information on the Switch version of the game, a new trailer, and added some Switch-specific screenshots.
Original Article: MY.GAMES' popular first-person shooter game Warface has appeared on the Nintendo Switch eShop, available to download as we speak.
The game is a free-to-play, tactical FPS title which has more than 80 million registered players across other platforms. The console version of the game is developed by Allods Team, and this newly-released Switch edition comes with some unique features:
- It’s the first CryEngine-powered title on Nintendo Switch. The game is using a heavily customised version of CryEngine and is running locked in 30FPS/720p in TV mode and 540p in handheld and tabletop modes, providing an optimal balance of image clarity and performance
- The development was done by MY.GAMES’ in-house studio Allods Team, known for PS4 and Xbox One versions of Warface and Skyforge
- Warface on Nintendo Switch supports some platform-specific features like gyro controls for more precise aiming, HD Rumble, and Nintendo Switch Pro Controller
- Online multiplayer and voice chat is supported without a need for paid Nintendo Online subscription
- All PvE missions will be available at launch, as well as 5 PvP modes (Team Deathmatch, Free For All, Plant the Bomb, Storm, Blitz), 3 Special Operations (The HQ, Cold Peak, Earth Shaker). Players will be unlocking new content and game modes every week
- Switch version also includes the latest Warface: Titan update adding the 5th playable class to the game, the SED.
In addition to the Switch release, the game's 'Warface: Titan' update is also now available on other systems. Here are some screenshots of the Switch version:
If you want to check it out, make sure to go ahead and download it from the eShop for free. Before you go, though, make sure to let us know your thoughts on this announcement in the comments below.

I'm down to some FPS shenanigans on my Switch. The system needs more of these.
Does this have gyro? If it doesn't, that's a damn shame.
I'll pass but its cool for those who like this type of thing.
This game was so bad, they pulled the 360 version during that system's lifespan. How the hell is it still around?
@Dreamcast2Turbo It wasn't due to quality of game, but because the Crytek engine it was based on pulled support for the console. The wiki page says it relaunched in 2018 on PS4/XB1.
@Shiryu yes, now it just needs CoD..
> Free game
What's the catch?
@Fazermint well it's f2p so probably the standard microtransaction stuff you'd expect.
After buying Earthfall for my FPS fix and being disappointed hopefully this can scratch that itch
It looks like an old PS3 game, which surprisingly has me wanting to play it.
1. Gyro aiming
2. 60fps
Just those two things is all I ask and I'll be all over this! Looks like good, old-fashioned fun.
@SpacemanSpiff it's fun until you reach level 13. It becomes a pay to win mess after that. What we really need is ironsight to come to switch
"Online focused FPS gameplay, check.
Zombies to kill, check.
Robots and new tech, check.
Well done, team, we have covered our quota of CoD features... How can we possibly make this any more of a generic money maker? What was that Dave? FREE TO PLAY WITH MTX? You, sir, are getting a raise."
Awesome more modern shooters
@JSDude1 It is so frustrating to have one of the very best entries of the series (Black Ops ][) on Wii U and nothing on Switch...
@SpacemanSpiff sorry to slightly disappoint:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/291480/Warface
Am in Scotland not up on the eshop yet
Does anyone know if this is cross platform??sounds like it from the description
Wonder if it will be after 12 tonight it will launch Australia is already on Tues hope not been waiting on a game like this........like .......forever
Will there ever be another splat fest, I really miss them
@Shiryu Thank you kindly!
Only slight disappointment, as you say. I can tolerate Overwatch at 30fps because I'm not taking it too seriously on this platform. This will be the same. Besides, it's free to play!
@SpacemanSpiff Overwatch is only 30fps? I've never noticed.
I guess I need to create an Australian account now.
I'll definitely give this a shot.
Get it? Because there are guns...
Thanks, that's my dad joke for the week.
@Fazermint Not much at all. You can play it as much as you want with no limits.
You can buy resurrection coins and weapons among other things if you want.
A coin will instantly revive yourself in a mission, but each missions have checkpoints too and team mates can sometimes revive you.
I probably played Warface for like 20 hours 100% for free on Xbox One.
Free to play. The price is right. Will try for sure.
@ilh Yup! It plays well, don't get me wrong, and I'm not normally one to care, but competitively it makes a big difference to me.
Cool, I waited for a game like this to be released on the Switch
@RAMYERSELL ken
I used an aussie account here in the states to download but it keeps telling me failed to connect to the warfare servers...anyone else in the USA or at least not in Australia have this issue?
@RAMYERSELL FREEDOM!!
I’m glad that these other companies can capitalize on Call of Duty’s lack of interest
@RAMYERSELL what is so appealing about this game? Looks very average 50 maps is a lot also how could anyone memorise that many. Quantity over quality perhaps.
Does this have any solo content or is it just yet another online multiplayer-only shooter in a sea of online-only shooters?
Ohh looks nice! Will download it later
Oh its Australia? Lol have to wait then.
Free? I'll try it, but haven't been playing a proper good FPS since DOOM 2016.
will give it a try when it's up on NA shop if it appears on the EU shop then I'll get it from there on my EU account
EA please bring bad company 2 to the switch
never heard of it. Looks like a generic military shooter, but I guess CoD people have something now
k made an Australia account so just gonna check it out now see how it is
file size is 7.4gb
May give it a go as it's free. Any FPS is going to be hard to top DOOM 2016 for me,at least until we see how good DOOM Eternal is
As long as it’s not a grind fest.
@Shiryu it’s probably coming, 52+ million units and counting is nothing to sneeze at. It’s just a matter of time.
WarFace? 🤦♂️
It is a Pay2Win shooter. People just drop $50 dollars for the Gold weapon pack and get "Kredits" to supplement. They even have "Top-Off" gifts for the big spenders.
Not to mention a LootBox ("Random Boxes" as they call them) rats nest. Makes COD look like GOTY.
Lasted about 2 days on my PC.
@JSDude1 Call of Duty Mobile seems like a no brainer for the Switch. Even better, dropping the micro transaction bits even if it meant not being f2p.
@FireCrackerJim
This is hilarious! I went to post how bad I wand BC: 1 & 2 on Switch and saw your post. The only online military shooter we would need.
@WhiteTrashGuy
With Vietnam DLC ofcourse
while we wait the could easily port BF1943.....But they wont, they are only interested in micro transactions
This has native voice chat like Fortnite?
@sandman89
Theres hee-haw nixey kai on the switch at the moment, I want a shooter without cartoony or fantasy looks, i want real guns wi real soldiers, hoping for cross play to take oot a few zoomers a ken on playstation, "I'll ge ye rocket ya numptie take that ya root"
Roll on midnight
for those that wanna know the game does support gyro for aiming and matches play very well on Switch from what I played so far and it supports Switch video capture
@JayJ yeh I’m a story/campaign guy. Never got these type of games - but glad others are happy with this.
That's it up in Europe
Hm, didn't take long at all for the first "this looks bad" or "this looks last gen" comments to enter the comments section.
Well, it looks more than good enough for me, so downloading as we speak. And from the trailer and screen shots on the Switch itself, it actually doesn't look nearly as bad as some people would like to make us believe...
@brunojenso Yeah it's a real competitive gamer thing. Not my thing personally.
Here in Germany it's out. Played it for the last five hours and it's really nice. But after a while the game wants me to upgrade this and that and wants me to click here and there to buy stuff with real money. It's like these mobile-games, you always try to avoid. Matches start right away and everything runs great, but it's obvious kinda pay-to-win in this one. But the next night's this game got me.
So they got the CryEngine running on portable hardware, that's cool
Downloading it, looks interesting though I'm not that into competitive multiplayer
Btw, maybe Crysis is possible now?
Edit: kinda disappointing, it's a pretty generic counter strike and call of duty mashup, though it's energetic and runs well
People will always complain even about one of the best Free 2 play games today.
The mechanics and gameplay in this game is very good.
I liked this on 360.
Will play when it comes to North America.
Yeap Warframe was a good fun free-to-play game, nice that Australia finally got it.
@Link41x it has voice chat there's an option for it in settings can even press a test button to test out the mic on your headset
@ilh most people don't notice the difference. It really isn't much at all and honestly doesn't matter.
@Shiryu Correction. They're pushing 40fps
@WhiteTrashGuy Friends and I talk about a BC 2 remaster needing to be on switch. EA can drop it off and never come back. I'd like Ghost Recon 2: Summit Strike too.
Yessssssssssss i've still got GOLD on 360.
@JordonAM Is the difference even perceivable to the human eye?
@MsJubilee Warface says it in the article... "on Nintendo Switch supports some platform-specific features like gyro controls for more precise aiming, HD Rumble, and Nintendo Switch Pro Controller"
I'm not usually a huge fan of these but I gave this a shot last night. Played the tutorial and the first mission. I gotta say, I really enjoyed it- it looks great, seems to run smoothly, and the action & gameplay were pretty fantastic. We'll see how it holds up and if the microtransaction crap gets in the way but so far, so good.
@MsJubilee yes!
@Fazermint F2P FPS/TPS almost universally are pay to win. Warframe is surprisingly unique in this regard.
Pay to win garbage.
Pay to win trash
@RAMYERSELL
Your profile pick was the stuff of my nightmares as a kid, among many others. I had trouble using the bathroom for a long time after that movie. lol
This game has many memeories for me, it may be a pay to win mess but it was an Xbox 360 game that always cured my bordem when I wanted to play online and didn't have Xbox live gold. The PVE is fun and PVP can be fun if you abuse your teammates when getting in an engagement, or you can always just be a sniper or medic.
I play alot of different genres of games, I'm mostly an RPG person, but this game got me into the FPS genre, alongside Halo3 and the first Killzone.
@Fazermint of course it's those LoOt BoXeS 🙄
Probably yelling at the clouds again, but does this have split screen?
So happy for this game! Loved it on xbox360 and happy to have a version in switch!
Between this and Tetris and Asphalt9, switch online is AMAZING value!
@Jayofmaya Well, thank you Dave. That way I can now enjoy a free co-op game for as long as I enjoy it, without needing a paid for online subscription either. I'm just going to ignore the paid stuff and get bored of it quite soon I guess, but up until now it's been fun.
I downloaded the game . Played about six matches with only my knife . Couldn't load to servers anymore, then deleted it. Was a fun morning.
That’s all Well and good but when is all the third person shooters coming? We only have Sniper Elite!
Does anyone know if it has Crossplay between all the other consoles?
@The-Chosen-one doesn't look like it from what I can tell
Have to pass if there is no solo options. And is played online only that also is a disincentive for me.
@TimboSlice This and Asphalt don't require paid subscription no free to play game does. Which makes free to play the only online games I play (but I prefer a good single player of local co-op anyway).
There's quite a few f2p games that have amazing value. I got some fun out of Dauntless and Warframe as well (the latter is amazing, but very hard to get into, I sadly failed getting into it but I didn't fail to see it's an amazing game for those who want to invest that time). I enjoyed Fallout Shelter for many hours as well.
It's unfortunately as bland and as money-grabbing as they come.
@Shambo Dave says it's A-Ok and tells you to buy some chocolate mint chip ice cream.
@Fazermint the catch is free to play monetisation if you want the best guns it will dent your wallet
Hmmmm
1)"Free to Play" Nothing is free so microtransactions must be in place
2)People spending inordinate amounts of money to get an advantage when skill alone wont cut it.
3) Ragdoll physics
No thanks. I like my games to cost me and to extract the best from me and that does not involve milking my prostrate for extra juice.
I have downloaded this game. I played for an hour or so then I deleted it. It was painful. Way too slow and blurry I can’t deal with it 🤢 when you are used to a pc and 60+ frames it’s pretty dam awful. Also had trouble knowing if it’s an enemy I’m shooting at or a team mate 🤷🏻♂️ Text too small although it might be ok in hand held but I didn’t try that. But it’s not the only game with that issue so meh not for me.
@Shiryu Actually it is. I can very much tell between 40-45 to 30fps. It's smoother
@JordonAM Sweet!
Wow, surprising!
This also marks the debut of CryEngine on Nintendo Switch. I wonder if other CryEngine games could follow suit.
Is that the swimming pools in Pripyat in the lower left hand corner?
@Kang81 LOL
yeah they were freaky flicks, loved the 80s horror films, Critters was another, would just CGI it now, animatronics at there best
