Nintendo is raising the price of Switch 2 outside Japan on Tuesday 1st September.

The price increase took effect soon after the May announcement in Nintendo's home territory, but everywhere else is following suit next week.

Rising hardware costs have become distressingly commonplace in recent years thanks to economic issues and component costs, with both Sony and Microsoft raising prices multiple times in different territories. Nintendo itself raised US prices for accessories and Switch 1 hardware back when the latest console launched, but this represents the first bump for Switch 2 itself.

It used to be that hardware got cheaper over time, but those days are over for the foreseeable future, it seems. Searching for a sliver of a silver lining, at least we got a near-four-month heads-up in the West, but that window is just about closed.

Of course, pulling the trigger now could mean missing out on the rumoured Zelda-themed Switch 2 - still not officially announced, although the packaging photos that appeared online look very convincing. If you're desperate for something snazzier than the default coal black SKU, it might be worth holding out.

Nintendo of America also recently announced new hardware bundles in the US in October, one including Mario Kart World (digital) and a three-month Nintendo Switch Online subscription for $549.99, and another switching out Mario Kart for Nintendo Switch Sports Resort (digital) for $529.99. Those would save you around $38/$28 respectively, although compared to the price right now, the $50 bump cancels out that saving and then some.
