Re: Talking Point: What We Expect From The First Nintendo Direct Of 2020

Probably animal crossing new horizons, smash ultimate dlc 5, smash ultimate fighter pass 2 reveal (echo fighters maybe?), another Wii U port to fill out the pre-e3 (Metroid prime trilogy, wonderful 101, pikman 4, or 3-d land if a sequel is not revealed), and a platinum games announcement (maybe Bayonetta, but could be another project). I also think we will get a bunch of sprinkled stuff from other developers. I hope that there is one other first party game revealed too (or retro studios unreleased project or BOTW 2 release date but that could be an e3 thing).

I do think that the eshop needs a revamp to help discoverability. However, the switch home menu’s minimalist approach is something I have really appreciated (folders could be added though). The really big question I have about 2020 though is whether we will get gba or n64 games on NSO (will gba include gba color or advance games)?

Re: Analysts Agree That Switch Will Be King In 2020, Less Sure About The Switch Pro

I don’t think that there will be a switch pro, since there is an updated switch model already. Nintendo will likely wait until 2022 to launch a new condole so that the Xbox and PlayStation are mid-cycle (making it easier to be on par for third party releases again). After all, Nintendo is complimentary to the other systems and not really desiring to compete in specs. Nintendo has outright stated that they will leverage the switch install base, so why divide that base with a pro model (forcing devs to still develop for the lesser model anyway or only the pro model). I do always think it is funny though when people think 4K is currently possible on switch...maybe in a few years.
