@N00BiSH tbh it’s the first time I’m arguing about day one DLCs since 2015 maybe?
But I get what you mean.
I’m not THAT mad about it.
But it got me off guard for them to do something like this TWICE in the same direct. (Pokémon being the other example)
So I hope they don’t start going into that corporate direction.
@N00BiSH the main point isn’t that they have never been greedy. It’s that they are now GREEDIER. Waaaaay more.
That’s why, there’s a reason when gamers say that a successful and arrogant Nintendo is the worst kind of Nintendo. They tend to go way over their heads.
@N00BiSH 5 bucks or a 100 bucks. That’s not the point. The point is that it was free for most players.
Is this free if I preordered Bananza? No?
Then point still stands.
And preorder meant that people that had the game DAY ONE… would have access to it. Otherwise then it wouldn’t be day one for late players. Right?
Nintendo had other DLC philosophies back then and I won’t keep discussing it when there’s tons of proof.
@N00BiSH even back in the day “Day One” DLC meant DLC that was worked along the game just to be cut and released a few days/weeks afterwards for maximum profit.
It never meant LITERALLY day one.
This was obviously worked along the game and cut. There’s not time to make such kind of content under a month.
@N00BiSH nah, I like Nintendo since I was 3… but there’s no reason to defend things that shouldn’t be defended. It’s shortsighted to think even Nintendo is perfect. Iwata’s Nintendo was a different beast than this one.
And it’s a great comparison because they explicitly said that they were against the so called Day One DLCs.
And yes, there IS old Nintendo and new Nintendo. Different leadership will always move the boat in different directions.
No old Nintendo? Ask Yamauchi.
@electrolite77 no, you’re not getting the reason behind the complaints. Nintendo repeatedly said in the past that they adopted a different philosophy for say “Day One” DLC.
@N00BiSH because I don’t like hypocrisy. And Nintendo has been well documented to be against these DLC practices since the WiiU and 3DS era and adopting a different philosophy and approach to DLC from their competitors.
But this New Nintendo is old Nintendo worst enemy I guess.
Nintendo is getting very greedy this generation. These bad practices of DLC are so 2010s.
DK and Pokemon ... there's really no excuse to cut content like that... but anyway
@electrolite77 yeah but back then people complained and that was seen as "immoral" in the gaming world when content was purposely cut just to sell as DLC. And Nintendo consistently avoided it (except for some cases)
But this Direct ... I'm not feeling this "new" greedy Nintendo.
@JustMonika I mean, thanks for the suggestion... but the thing is that I don't want to spend loads of money on consoles anymore. That's the reason I've stayed with the PS4 and now Switch 2. If most things are coming to Switch 2 then I'm good to go.
It’s Bs that this is incarcerated to the S2. This could easily be handled by the Switch too. These games need all the sales they can get and a port to Switch 1 would be better for everyone.
But anyway… it’s good to see most of the series in Nintendo hardware. (I mean they owned the IP for a while… and underused too)
I’m a horror fan and these games are quite scary, haven’t been able to finish the WiiU one since release :/ because it was so stress inducing
Open world is the ANTITHESIS of the Metroid IP …it’s laughable
This is getting to a ridiculous point where the meaning of “new” and “innovation” is just going open world. The new state of gaming is quite disappointing
Oh and don’t forget that this surely will cost $80 just because Nintendo’s open world tax
@The_Nintendo_Pedant as always I 100% agree with you. Just bought mine recently ONLY because there was a really good discount in Mexico, which made me get one for around $350 dlls with MKW included.
And I put MK World and oommph... its atrocious. I'll be playing it, sure. But I didn't get any hype.
Then I decided to buy Welcome Tour, because, as you said, this console didn't feel anything special compared to all the other Nintendo consoles, and I needed to know what was actually new and the features that could spark that imagination I had with all the other ones since the NES.
Welcome Tour was great in that regard. Should it have been free? ABSOLUTELY
Did it help me understand what was new this time around? DEFINITELY
Is it fun? Yeah, kind of.
I could have waited a year to get one, because I don't think there's anything worthwhile right now (Haven't played DK yet) ... but I couldn't let go the deal I got.
I was more excited about NINTENDO LAND when WiiU launched because it offered all these new and fun ways to play that sparked that "exciting future".
This just feels like ...... "mhhh, its ok, its just more Switch"
Hopefully METROID PRIME 4 can change this with the mouse gameplay.
@DarkCoolEdge that’s happening with me with the Lugia one…. I firmly believe they keep controlling it somehow. There’s a huge difference in what I get with the Ho-oh packs and the Lugia ones. I opened 10 packs with Lugia at the start and got absolutely nothing but one full art and that’s it.
And I’ve noticed the Wonder Choice isn’t having any rares for at least a month … something is going on
Great track design not bogged down to straight lines by an open world? It’s already sounding better than Mario Kart World… (not that it was difficult to begin with) … and I can bet this will be cheaper as there’s no open world tax.
Now add the City Trial mode, the unique gameplay, the ability-based racing experience, the colors, the music, the stadiums, … and to be honest… the content. It’s not a Sakurai game if it’s not brimming with content around the main game. And maybe a story mode???
I wish F-Zero got this love.
I’d rather have a racer that caters to my abilities than item luck based.
A true ablity-based racer.... amazing visuals, no open world crap increasing the cost and affecting the tracks, great track design, the City Trial mode ... I'm in.
I wish F-Zero recieved this kind of love.
I'll never forgive how terrible Mario kart World is compared to this...
@MatthewTaranto I mean... I never said it was a bad thing ... I'm genunienly interested in UFO 50 .... just found it curious that I felt like I had played something similar before
Dont get me wrong... because I'm interested in the game and eventually buy it.
But isn't this a copy of that DS game where there was a developer who wanted a kid to playtest all his games and its a collection of around 30 or so retro games?
Can't remember the name but the games kept evolving from eras ...70's, 80's, 90's, 00's
Edit: I remember the name now: Retro Game Challenge
Come on ... this is blatantly copying and stealing from the Playdate... who could defend this? Nintendo can sue everyone else... but they can steal and get away with it?
They should sell a sensor bar for peanuts... and should have included infrared tech in the S2 joycons... I mean, come on, the technology for that must be just $2 dollars at most at this point.
@WhiteUmbrella yeah and the PS2 released with a DVD at a time where it was one of the cheapest options to get one. Many people bought one just as a DVD player. So ….
Been playing it for 3-4 days and the puzzles are too easy. I thought they would be getting harder as you level up… but if this keeps up I will delete it within a week
@DaGoldenBoo you mean the Mario LEGOs that are aimed as KIDS sets?
Again, Lego Adult sets are for displaying and usually have some kind of interactivity and easter eggs.
If I wanted to play a Gameboy I would either play my switch or my OG Gameboy.
This is not the thing for that.
For it to work with the buttons and everything it would need wiring, and that’s not the selling point for why people buy Legos in the first place.
“It’s a buildable rectangle” yeah, that’s a Gameboy for you. What would make it more interesting for you? A circle?
That’s like saying the Deku Tree set is just a “buildable tree”.
Or the coin block just a “buildable yellow cube”
@DaGoldenBoo it’s great that this is branded as a Lego Set for Adults no? And it’s not like these adult sets are more profitable for Lego than the kid sets. Oh wait… they are.
I already have a MOC Lego Gameboy that looks exactly like it but I guess I’ll have to sell that one so I can get this with the display and the gamepaks.

Re: Surprise! Donkey Kong Bananza Is Getting DLC, And It's Out Today
@electrolite77 you gave one example, I can give you 20. And as I said, saying one thing and doing another, that’s called hypocrisy.
And let’s be real 1/3 of the cost of the whole game for ONE level and a new mode?
Whaaaaaaat?
Re: Surprise! Donkey Kong Bananza Is Getting DLC, And It's Out Today
@N00BiSH sure… but then why go lengths to defend that? I don’t like hypocrisy. Not from a person nor corporate or any kind.

Awesome! There’s no reason to get a PS5 for me now. At least not with the PS6 looming in 2027

Re: Surprise! Donkey Kong Bananza Is Getting DLC, And It's Out Today
10 years ago this would have easily passed by as a predatory practice. DLC only like what… a month after release?
Also Pokemon A-Z DLC being announced even before the game is out?
Wow… Nintendo is being very corporate kind of greedy this generation.
Re: Virtual Boy Is Being Added To Nintendo Switch Online
@Uncle_Franklin I’ve played them in all their 3D glory. It’s easy to install the emulator in the 3DS.
Re: Virtual Boy Is Being Added To Nintendo Switch Online
I mean, it’s awesome. But I’ve already played these games in 3D on my 3DS.
And it’s not a library I would dish $$$ to have a virtual boy stand for 2 worthwhile games.
Re: Resident Evil Requiem Has Been Officially Confirmed For Switch 2
This is great news as I don’t need to dish $500 for a PS5 when the PS6 is like 1 year away
Thanks Capcom
Also, encarcerating Fatal Frame 2 to the S2 is such BS

@1UP-HUSKY Dusk Golem has never been wrong about Resident Evil
Re: Nintendo Music Adds Fire Emblem: Awakening Soundtrack In New Update
I’ll have to throw this out there.
Advance Wars has better strategic gameplay and it’s the superior franchise, albeit not the most popular one.
So sad it went into obscurity while its sibling became so popular it started to saturate even Smash Bros.
Not saying FE is bad. Just a simpler strategy game. Better music though, and great too.
