Re: Surprise! Donkey Kong Bananza Is Getting DLC, And It's Out Today

Yoshi3

@N00BiSH tbh it’s the first time I’m arguing about day one DLCs since 2015 maybe?
But I get what you mean.
I’m not THAT mad about it.
But it got me off guard for them to do something like this TWICE in the same direct. (Pokémon being the other example)

So I hope they don’t start going into that corporate direction.

Re: Surprise! Donkey Kong Bananza Is Getting DLC, And It's Out Today

Yoshi3

@N00BiSH 5 bucks or a 100 bucks. That’s not the point. The point is that it was free for most players.
Is this free if I preordered Bananza? No?
Then point still stands.

And preorder meant that people that had the game DAY ONE… would have access to it. Otherwise then it wouldn’t be day one for late players. Right?

Nintendo had other DLC philosophies back then and I won’t keep discussing it when there’s tons of proof.

Re: Surprise! Donkey Kong Bananza Is Getting DLC, And It's Out Today

Yoshi3

@N00BiSH even back in the day “Day One” DLC meant DLC that was worked along the game just to be cut and released a few days/weeks afterwards for maximum profit.

It never meant LITERALLY day one.

This was obviously worked along the game and cut. There’s not time to make such kind of content under a month.

Re: Surprise! Donkey Kong Bananza Is Getting DLC, And It's Out Today

Yoshi3

@N00BiSH nah, I like Nintendo since I was 3… but there’s no reason to defend things that shouldn’t be defended. It’s shortsighted to think even Nintendo is perfect. Iwata’s Nintendo was a different beast than this one.
And it’s a great comparison because they explicitly said that they were against the so called Day One DLCs.

And yes, there IS old Nintendo and new Nintendo. Different leadership will always move the boat in different directions.
No old Nintendo? Ask Yamauchi.

Re: Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake Set To Haunt Your Switch 2 In 2026

Yoshi3

It’s Bs that this is incarcerated to the S2. This could easily be handled by the Switch too. These games need all the sales they can get and a port to Switch 1 would be better for everyone.

But anyway… it’s good to see most of the series in Nintendo hardware. (I mean they owned the IP for a while… and underused too)
I’m a horror fan and these games are quite scary, haven’t been able to finish the WiiU one since release :/ because it was so stress inducing

Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Finally Gets A Release Date, Open World Confirmed

Yoshi3

Open world BS in Metroid Prime 4 … yay 🙄🙄🙄

Open world is the ANTITHESIS of the Metroid IP …it’s laughable

This is getting to a ridiculous point where the meaning of “new” and “innovation” is just going open world. The new state of gaming is quite disappointing

Oh and don’t forget that this surely will cost $80 just because Nintendo’s open world tax

Re: Poll: Three Months In, How Would You Rate Switch 2's Library So Far?

Yoshi3

@The_Nintendo_Pedant as always I 100% agree with you. Just bought mine recently ONLY because there was a really good discount in Mexico, which made me get one for around $350 dlls with MKW included.
And I put MK World and oommph... its atrocious. I'll be playing it, sure. But I didn't get any hype.
Then I decided to buy Welcome Tour, because, as you said, this console didn't feel anything special compared to all the other Nintendo consoles, and I needed to know what was actually new and the features that could spark that imagination I had with all the other ones since the NES.

Welcome Tour was great in that regard. Should it have been free? ABSOLUTELY
Did it help me understand what was new this time around? DEFINITELY
Is it fun? Yeah, kind of.

I could have waited a year to get one, because I don't think there's anything worthwhile right now (Haven't played DK yet) ... but I couldn't let go the deal I got.

I was more excited about NINTENDO LAND when WiiU launched because it offered all these new and fun ways to play that sparked that "exciting future".
This just feels like ...... "mhhh, its ok, its just more Switch"
Hopefully METROID PRIME 4 can change this with the mouse gameplay.

Re: Nintendo Music Adds Fire Emblem: Awakening Soundtrack In New Update

Yoshi3

I’ll have to throw this out there.
Advance Wars has better strategic gameplay and it’s the superior franchise, albeit not the most popular one.

So sad it went into obscurity while its sibling became so popular it started to saturate even Smash Bros.

Not saying FE is bad. Just a simpler strategy game. Better music though, and great too.

Re: Pokémon TCG Pocket's Next Gen II-Themed Booster Pack Arrives Very Soon

Yoshi3

@DarkCoolEdge that’s happening with me with the Lugia one…. I firmly believe they keep controlling it somehow. There’s a huge difference in what I get with the Ho-oh packs and the Lugia ones. I opened 10 packs with Lugia at the start and got absolutely nothing but one full art and that’s it.

And I’ve noticed the Wonder Choice isn’t having any rares for at least a month … something is going on

Re: Preview: Sakurai's Kirby Air Riders Is A Kaleidoscopic Adrenaline Rush

Yoshi3

Great track design not bogged down to straight lines by an open world? It’s already sounding better than Mario Kart World… (not that it was difficult to begin with) … and I can bet this will be cheaper as there’s no open world tax.

Now add the City Trial mode, the unique gameplay, the ability-based racing experience, the colors, the music, the stadiums, … and to be honest… the content. It’s not a Sakurai game if it’s not brimming with content around the main game. And maybe a story mode???

I wish F-Zero got this love.
I’d rather have a racer that caters to my abilities than item luck based.

Re: Review: UFO 50 (Switch) - A Wondrous Smorgasbord Of Retro Delights

Yoshi3

Dont get me wrong... because I'm interested in the game and eventually buy it.
But isn't this a copy of that DS game where there was a developer who wanted a kid to playtest all his games and its a collection of around 30 or so retro games?
Can't remember the name but the games kept evolving from eras ...70's, 80's, 90's, 00's

Edit: I remember the name now: Retro Game Challenge

Found out someone comparing them too

Re: Nintendo's LEGO Game Boy Officially Revealed, Releasing October 2025

Yoshi3

@DaGoldenBoo you mean the Mario LEGOs that are aimed as KIDS sets?
Again, Lego Adult sets are for displaying and usually have some kind of interactivity and easter eggs.
If I wanted to play a Gameboy I would either play my switch or my OG Gameboy.

This is not the thing for that.
For it to work with the buttons and everything it would need wiring, and that’s not the selling point for why people buy Legos in the first place.

“It’s a buildable rectangle” yeah, that’s a Gameboy for you. What would make it more interesting for you? A circle?

That’s like saying the Deku Tree set is just a “buildable tree”.
Or the coin block just a “buildable yellow cube”
