Re: Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore Will Be Censored On Switch

YorkshireNed

I'm sure I'll get downvoted but I have kids who love RPGs, anime and j-pop. A censored version means they can enjoy this game too but if it had all the sexy content I'd be a bit of a lousy parent to let them play it so I'm happy about this. We all loved it on the Wii U and are all up for double dipping. Just to be clear, it doesn't offend me if its uncut but I sure as hell wouldn't let my kids see it! Ok?

@Kochambra Please believe me, I sincerely dont believe reading Lovecraft makes you racist or could make you racist. I am a huge fan of his work and read my original omnibus until it broke up. I have no problem separating art from artist. However, it does make me cringe immensely to see people try and claim Lovecraft isnt racist. I think the man himself would probably have cringed to see people claim he wasn't. He had some strong beliefs and he wasn't ashamed of them. There's no ambiguity in it. Of course, as I said originally, it doesn't really merit being the opening points of a review of a video game based on a table top game based on his worlds but it is what it is.

@E_maniac you hate that people play the "racism card: on Lovecraft? He feared and hated every other culture of the world. His mythos was born of it. It was his creative muse. He has plenty of peers who through no bad intentions pandered to racist stereotypes but weren't actually racist people but with Lovecraft it is an incontrovertible fact. I'll grant you spending a lengthy opening discussing this on a review of a video game based on a table top game based on his creations is egregious but so is to claim Lovecraft isn't racist. Before you get angry, nobody is saying ban him and writers from many cultures around the world have taken inspiration from the worlds he created but from him being furious after walking through time square to his parodies of contemporary poets, his racism was on display and on the record. He took his own inspiration from his deep seated fear of the other and as we all know fear breeds loathing.

Re: A Rewind Feature And Two NES Games Are Coming To Nintendo Switch Online This Month

YorkshireNed

Ahhh but the online service is so cheap anyhow. I spend more money on craft beer in a week than I do for Nintendo online in a year. Do I care about these new games? Not really. But I still dont feel burned about a service that really is small change. As the wiser comments here say, once first party NES is done we will get SNES. Keep supporting and who knows what comes after that?

Re: Nintendo Has No Plans To Censor Video Games Like Sony

I thought getting rid of the boob slider and making Lynn "legal" were wise editorial changes for the localization of XB X that improved the experience for those of us who aren't nonces. However, the changes to TMS were not OK because they messed with the story and what they took out they didn't adequately replace. The most important thing is they did at least make Western versions. But, whatever, we're actually having a news item here about Nintendo here reiterate that they still don't mess with other people's games not complaining about what size a characters breasts are. Anyone who uses the term SJW is a cleft.

Re: Here Are Your Nintendo Switch Online NES Games For The Month Of June

@TheLightningYu fair enough. I already have DD2 on the NES mini and it didn't engage me. Maybe I'm out of step with popular opinion but for me DD and DD2 were classic arcade games but their home console and computer versions were all underwhelming. It was a rough and ready 16bit aracade game but those 8 bit ports were more rough than ready! I remember seeing a Game Boy version in the shops and thinking "uhhhhh, no thanks".
