Re: Pokémon GO Is Ending Support For Older Android Devices In Its August Update

YorkshireNed

@Heavyarms55 I take it you dont own a Switch as you're still happy with your Wii U?

Only kidding, kinda, but game development should not be held back by people not having current phone models. 64bit phones launched in 2014 so they have been around longer than the Switch and Pokemon Go itself.

To be honest, Pokemon Go is a pretty demanding app in its Android version, I honestly wouldn't have ever recommended running it on a 32bit phone anyway as it would very likely overheat your phone

Re: A New Doctor Who Game Is Coming To Nintendo Switch

I've adored this show since I was a toddler in the late 70s and still never miss an episode and buy all the box sets. However, I have never enjoyed a single Dr Who video game in that entire time. I think 6/10 might be a record setting goal for Dr Who game quality. It's like a curse. I would love to see it broken but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Re: Controversial "Adults Only" Murder Simulator Hatred Is Coming To Nintendo Switch

YorkshireNed

The term "Controversial" being used for a video game is usually as much of a warning sign as phrases like "movie tie in", "99 games in one" and "urban fighter". Apart from Barbarian, GTA and Mortal Combat, controversial games suck. However. like movie tie ins, they are guaranteed to make money, proving the old adage about a fool and their money. I'm sure they deliberately targeted the Switch as the console most likely to ban then and gave an unpaid intern doing the conversion just so they can cry 'Censorship!'

Re: Notorious "Video Nasty" Cannibal Holocaust Is Getting An Interactive Sequel On Switch

YorkshireNed

I am a huge horror fan but I have never seen this because I go to movies for escapism. Watching someone kill/torture a turtle and monkey for real isnt escapism. i get it from an artistic point of view, he was trying to blur the lines between movie and reality, to make the audience think this was real but it sucks. Might give the UK blu ray a go, though, going off what @wraggadam1 said.

However, Deodatp does get way more hassle for animal abuse than respected directors like Jodorowsky, Herzog, Peckinpah and Tarkovsky do. And compared to our food chain, he's a saint.

Absolutely insane that theres a sequel coming to Switch. Reminds me though that Ubisoft's first game was an unofficial adaptation of "Dawn of the Dead" called "Zombi" which was the name Dawn was released under in most continental European countries. The Wii U game was an indirect sequel.

Re: Feature: Which Nintendo Switch Game Did We Miss?

YorkshireNed

Not got any actual suggestions but wanted to say how you guys method of covering all WiiWare was what brought me to you. Of course, the deluge that is the Switch eshop makes such an undertaking almost impossible, so I understand the problem. Maybe it's time to create a rotating full time shovel ware reviewer. They should be banned from playing any AAA games while it's their watch but that should last no more than a month

Re: Prison Princess Breaks Out Later This Month, Here's A Trailer

@tobibra That's a good point, I had forgotten that. I mean, all that stuff worked for ME but I did jokingly call it "Xenoblade 2: Busty Swords". If I was into guys it woulda been a bit dull so, yeah, a fair point for maybe having the ability to change the blades into hunks in trunks or whatever could have broadened the appeal. I dont remember anyone saying "Ban this filth" [though I am going off my memory and I ain't got time to check] just people saying what they saw and how it wasn't for them. You cant deny that was one big n bouncy game. A classic and if anyone had tried to ban it or called to boycott it I would've fought them but saying what they saw? That's fair enough.

Re: Prison Princess Breaks Out Later This Month, Here's A Trailer

@Cromwell Nobody wants to stop these kind of games. People were just sick of snowflakes boycotting excellent JRPGs because of a few changes. Would I have preferred the original version of TMS? Of course. Is it a big deal? No. We had the same problem with Xenoblade X. Was the PC brigade the ones starting problems? No, it was the people who wanted what for me was most eagerly awaited game of the Wii U generation to fail because it didnt have a boob slider and they changed an age of a supporting character. Of all the myriad amazing stuff going on in that game why freak out about a minor change? "Its in Japan!!" so are vending machines for schoolgirl panties and a declining birth rate.

So everyone who says calm down they're just making it less creepy for the average person is suddenly some imagined enemy in a fictional cultural war invented by demagogues for clickbait.

Re: 64 Games Are Currently Available For Less Than $1 On The Nintendo Switch eShop

YorkshireNed

There's definitely big opportunities for improvements with the shop interface. I guess after the relative quiet of the Wii U and 3DS eshops we're all a little bit overwhelmed by the sheer volume of stuff hitting the Switch's eshop. I've tried some of these $1 games and like @Mjoen says it used to be $1 per play for some arcade titles so if you play them twice for more than 5 minutes its better value than those were! Though I can relate to @agramonte about having the time to play them. I got 3 kids and a busy job. Games, like movies, TV & books are one of those things I'm forever backlogged on.
