Re: Overwatch 2 Servers Hit By "Mass DDoS Attack" On Launch Day

Wilforce

@Xiovanni The President of WoW would have a no-compete clause, but the artist painting for Overwatch would not. No-compete clauses are typically regional and timely. Two year clauses are typically struck down by courts for being too restrictive, general rule of thumb is 6-months. Another complicating matter is that many of the people you’re criticizing are contracted labor and not employees of Blizzard who wouldn’t be under a no-compete because they don’t have access to confidential information. There is a clause in Blizzard contracts for employees that is intended to prevent the poaching of talent for 2-years after one’s departure.

Re: Talking Point: Which Zelda Game Should You Play First?

Wilforce

@Riderkicker As much as fans of the mainline titles love to hate on it - I truly do believe that everyone should give them it a chance. Zelda is defined by the puzzles, and Triforce Heroes perfectly captures the classic puzzle format in a bite-sized formula that can be shared with friends and family.

Re: Best Contra Games On Nintendo Systems

Wilforce

I never understood how anniversary collection games don’t make the top games. They are generally a culmination of all the games and while titles like Contra and Alien Wars are clearly stand outs - I would’ve thought that combining all the titles would be more beneficial to overall scoring.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (September 17th)

Wilforce

I’m gonna go back to Overwatch for a bit since they’re wrapping up the classic game early next month. Also going to play a little bit of Splatoon 3 - I still need to find a weapon that works for me this time around. Maybe a little bit of Switch Sports and Gran Turismo too if I have the time. I’d like to pick up Xenoblade Chronicles 3, but I don’t see myself having the time to commit to playing through it.

Re: The Pokémon Diamond And Pearl Remakes Just Won A 'Global Award'

Wilforce

We’re outsiders looking in on a bubble. More than likely it really was the best selling game considering the only real competition the game had in Japan would’ve been Elden Ring. Global Award… that I’m not so sure about. It really depends on what the criteria were to win, which at the end of the day Pokemon is a wildly successful franchise and so was Elden Ring in terms of sales. May have boiled down to which sold better in Japan or appealed to the larger audience. Pokémon being rated E definitely has a broader reach.

Re: We Might Get A Brand New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Game In 2023

Wilforce

@Sinton I get to your point, but fundamentally those games are the same as their predecessors. Nick/Paramount are not known for their high quality games, and many of the games have received middling scores to date. While they make amazing shows and franchises - I don’t believe their studio is equipped to produce a AAA title, but I would love to be proven wrong.

Re: Nintendo Announces End Date For Dragalia Lost

Wilforce

@ATaco It’s like an arcade. You pump money in until you can’t anymore. I’m disappointed, but I knew this day would come. I stopped buying stuff a couple years ago when the difficulty curve started really ramping up during the events and I realized I’d never be top tier unless I whaled it. I probably sunk about $60 into it. Don’t regret it, but I’ll miss it.

Re: Nintendo Announces End Date For Dragalia Lost

Wilforce

@Sun_wukong The game had 4 million downloads, but averaged $41.75 per user. By comparison, Fire Emblem averages $54.61, Mario Kart $1.20, and AC $4.24. I’m sure one of the contributing factors to the closure is the licensed music, but it makes more per user than most of Nintendo’s offerings.

Re: Video: THQ Nordic Shows Off New Trailers For SpongeBob SquarePants And AEW

Wilforce

I’m not surprised by the direction the AEW game is going given how many times they pushed it as a successor to N64 wrestling… It looks like it plays exactly like the old WCW/NWO N64 games. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but as someone who was looking forward to a return to the roots - perhaps catering to fans of the classics (like myself) was not the right direction.
