One game we've been waiting to see show up on the Switch is Wrath: Aeon of Ruin. This retro-inspired first-person shooter powered by the original Quake Engine was first teased for Nintendo's hybrid system way back in 2019.
So, what's the latest? At Realms Deep 2022, the "dark fantasy horror" FPS kicked in a Spring 2023 release date for PC and consoles. Alongside this announcement was a brand new trailer showcasing a new boss and enemy, new weapons, and levels.
Here's an update from the development team:
"The team continues to work diligently to provide fans with the most fleshed-out first-person shooter possible.
Hunt down the Guardians of the Old World as the Outlander. Wreak havoc in WRATH’s visceral combat while exploring non-linear, expansive hubs.
Today’s trailer introduces the first boss, the Lady of Ascension, Guardian of Mourningvale. After collecting the five relics in the first hub, defeat the Guardian to reach Episode 2.
While the Outlanders’ used to be the hunter, something new hunts him: Prowlers, abominations prone to turning invisible for sneak attacks.
Combat this new foe with three new weapons:
Crystallizer: a chain weapon capable of targeting multiple enemies. The alternate firing mode turns enemies into frozen crystals that amplify the chain ability as a conductor
Lance: a long-ranged sniper that can create a forcefield
Mace of devastation: A crushing melee weapon that collects souls. The secondary fire unleashes souls in a ranged barrage
When Wrath: Aeon of Ruins launches on Nintendo Switch and multiple other platforms in Spring 2023, it'll be available for $24.99 / €20,99 / £19,99. Like the look of this one? Leave a comment down below.

Playing Quake Remastered made me miss these types of games.
so much yes
gimmeIwantit
Looks great. $25 is pretty steep though. Quake Remastered launched at $10, and has been on sale for less than half that several times already.
Bout time! This game kinda dropped off the face of the earth for a while there.
I see we're also getting a remaster of Rise of the Triad for Switch too! Good time for classic style FPS!
Now we just need a remaster of Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold.
I’m really liking what they’re doing with the weapons. It feels like a long time since I played an FPS where the weapons had an alternate fire mode, that was much more commons in ‘90s FPS games I think.
Yeah, I think that I'm digging to look of this one. Definitely going to keep up more on this one.
Definitely getting this one 😁 .. Hopefully there's a physical version as well at some point
I like. My wallet will be empty!
One that's been on my wishlist on Steam for a while, as a fan of this type of game I'm really enjoying having so many of them either returning or new ones being made
I don't need to watch that. I'm in just based on the demo. Also, Realms Deep is the secret winner of Not E3 this year. I'm going to feast in 2023.
@PepperMintRex I think they've just been nose to the grindstone.
The thumbnail made me think of that (Don Horā in Uchū Keiji Gavan) :

Artwork alone had me sold. I'm totally down for this one!!
