One game we've been waiting to see show up on the Switch is Wrath: Aeon of Ruin. This retro-inspired first-person shooter powered by the original Quake Engine was first teased for Nintendo's hybrid system way back in 2019.

So, what's the latest? At Realms Deep 2022, the "dark fantasy horror" FPS kicked in a Spring 2023 release date for PC and consoles. Alongside this announcement was a brand new trailer showcasing a new boss and enemy, new weapons, and levels.

Here's an update from the development team:

"The team continues to work diligently to provide fans with the most fleshed-out first-person shooter possible.

Hunt down the Guardians of the Old World as the Outlander. Wreak havoc in WRATH’s visceral combat while exploring non-linear, expansive hubs.

Today’s trailer introduces the first boss, the Lady of Ascension, Guardian of Mourningvale. After collecting the five relics in the first hub, defeat the Guardian to reach Episode 2.

While the Outlanders’ used to be the hunter, something new hunts him: Prowlers, abominations prone to turning invisible for sneak attacks.

Combat this new foe with three new weapons:

Crystallizer: a chain weapon capable of targeting multiple enemies. The alternate firing mode turns enemies into frozen crystals that amplify the chain ability as a conductor
Lance: a long-ranged sniper that can create a forcefield
Mace of devastation: A crushing melee weapon that collects souls. The secondary fire unleashes souls in a ranged barrage
