Re: Mega Man: Dual Override Will Be Playable For The First Time At Gamescom 2026

WaveWitch

@Sepewrath
MM12's art direction and style are definitely stronger than the last, but it still isn't going the extra mile graphically speaking. MM11 was almost a PS3-tier game, this new one is venturing into PS4 territory at best, maybe? I don't know. Doesn't look it's 1 full leap in generational power vs MM11. maybe in between/half way.

And I'm curious, I wonder if playing MM11 on NS1 corrects the occasional frame rate stuttering. Capcom could at least update it with a locked FR, anti-aliasing and the ever so slight visual bump of the PS4 version. Than again, I'll probably never fully revist it ever again. I'm usually a 1 and done kind of gamer.

I hate repeated playthroughs, because once the mystery is unravled, and you've done it, the experience is not even remotely close to being as good as your initial playthrough. can't touch a first time experience with your second.

Re: Mega Man: Dual Override Will Be Playable For The First Time At Gamescom 2026

WaveWitch

Gonna nab this one on NS2 instead of PS5. I just can't get on board with the Dualsense's rubbery detached tactile-less none traditional D-pad. It felt like such a drag playing M11 on PS5 and even PS4 Pro with the DualShock 4.

Even though MM11 on NS1 suffered from the occasional weird frame rate suttering(Impact man's stage being the prime example), lacked Anti-aliasing and the visuals were ever so slightly downgraded(Shine on armor etc) that may be difficult to discern even with a side by side, it was miles more enjoyable using the NS1 Pro Controller.

Plus, MM12 doesn't seem like it's really pumping PS5-tier visuals anyways. Seems like it's almost teetering towards being 1 generation behind, so compromises should be minimal for the NS2 version. I mean really, MM11 is easily one of the strongest entries in the classic series. I think what ultimately holds it back is at least half the soundtrack which comes sounds a bit too ravey'(Block man's theme...Blugh), the Double Gear system(As much as i enjoyed using slo-mo) felt a tinge overly complicated...

I didn't even realise until the end of the game that you could actually use 'overdrive' robot master attacks once you've obtained their power beyond their regular attack/use, and I'd say the ending was anti-climactic and painfully derivative. if anything, MM11 feels almost like a restart or reboot for the series, so in that regard they most likely to just wanted to keep things simple.

For me, it was better than 10, 4, 5 & 6 based on the time they all came out in the 90's(And 2010 for MM10) and still to this day when playing them back to back. 2 was always the undefeated reigning holy moly' magical grail(Those who played it in the late 80's before MM3 know what I'm talking about) but it hasn't exactly aged all that well thanks to the step-back in controls(MM3 is when they were perfected), slow ladder climbing & some of the boss battles feel a little sloppy.

The only classic Mega Man game that's managed to escape me is MM7. I experienced maybe 1-2 hours of it back in 95' when it come out on SNES, at a friends place. It was a 2 or 3 day rental. But we weren't exactly thrilled with it. MMX left such an incredible impression on us back in 94', and moving on over to MM7 felt like a step in the wrong direction.

Plus, SNES felt like OLD news by this time. MM7 came out in September of 95', and I already had the cutting edge next gen Sega Saturn 4 months prior, and my soon to be incredible PS1 was just days away from launch. So ya, MM7 never had a chance at impressing me when i was already 4 months in being accustomed to 32 bits.

There's noticeable lag with the emulated version in the MM Legacy 2 collection, and i hate the half baked CRT filter Capcom decided to roll with it. But then, an original cart on eBay will run you like $300(cad)+. This game has been on my back burner for decades man. I've beaten every single mainline console & handheld MM except this one. Man, that was a long post. lol Mega-Caffeination in check!

Re: Resident Evil Veronica Confirmed For Switch 2 Next Year

WaveWitch

@OldManHermit
CV's first half or so felt revolutionary from a graphical standpoint and cutscenes back on Dreamcast in 2000. Once you play as Chris in the antarctic it all kind of fell apart for me. The island And Goth styled mansion castle were the highlites. And i loved Steve, regardless of the corny voice acting. Especially when he freaked the funk out and machine gunned his zombie father, or crashed threw a window and saved Clair from a Bandersnatch. The level of character model detail and spiffy cinematic camera angles were something else way back when.

The character models and level of expression looked amazing for their time, but the environments were a double edged sword since they scrapped the high level of detail from RE 1,2 & 3's prerendered, in favour of 3D polygons which allowed for contineous movement with the camera.

Never liked the PS2 port. It looked worse(Contrast etc), and i wasn't entirely thrilled with some of the switches they mode, nor did it feel as good to play it with a Dualshock 2 imo.

Re: Resident Evil Veronica Confirmed For Switch 2 Next Year

WaveWitch

Cool, I'll just play that on PS5 Pro. lol
At least NS2 has 9-Axis Gyro aiming if it's supported this time around. Requiem has the best gyro, actually scratch that, the only good Gyro aiming for any mainline RE game. It's perfect, except on PS5 since you're limited to 6-axis.

As for Code Veronica. It looked brilliant back on Dreamcast in 2000, loved the first half or so of that game for it's time. But once you get to the antartic as Chris, it really falls apart. I expected a Requiem Gold Edition reveal, not Code Veronica, nor for 2027. Hopefully we get RE Zero remake for 2028!

Re: Capcom Releases Resident Evil Requiem Demo On Switch 2

WaveWitch

Sweet. I'll try out the PS5 demo in a few, and then cross my fingers for the PSVR2 VR mode unveil during June 2nd's State of Play. if that doesn't happen, whatever, because the incredible PCVR mod exists which is still getting QOL updates.

I can't play RE on a TV anymore. Those days are over, not after experiencing RE7, RE8, RE4R & RE4 in VR, there's even PCVR mods available for RE2R & RE3R which it impossible to go back to the flat versions now.

50 year old stubble faced slightly disheveled Leon has never looked better, Giddian looks like such a fantastic and eerie villian, the care center looks outstanding and easily the most intersting location next to 1996's RE1's Mansion. Theamatically, it looks so interesting and wildly different than both RE7 & RE8 before it. I'm dying to experience it, but it has to be in VR.

Re: Review: Rugrats: Retro Rewind Collection (Switch) - A Janky Compilation Carried By Nostalgia

WaveWitch

Search for Raptar for it's time wasnt half bad actually, but in all honesty I'd rather just buy the actual PS1 disc(Loose) for $20(cad) which is less than this collection, with Zero latency and i get to play it on a CRT with buttery smooth blur-free motion.

I'll probably put it on for 10 minutes, and never touch it again. This game is best left in the 1998 memory banks. lol
Those 3D polygon graphics look like a total nightmare for the eyes in this day and age.

Re: Review: Mobapad M12-HD Controllers For Switch 2 - A Clear Step Above Nintendo's Joy-Con 2

WaveWitch

Most YT Reviewers are saying that the Hyperion3's are still more comfortable, and they've got taller full range traditional sticks.

They may not look quite as nice, the vanilla rumble is overly agressive and whatever else, but it's the closest you'll get to feeling like you're using a detached Pro 1 controller. Need a Wii Remote Plus & Nunchuck-like control scheme for TV play and i think I'm leaning towards the H3's, for titles like Super Mario Galaxy 1+2, LOZ: Skyward Sword HD and the like. Gotta have that 9-Axis gyro with better ergonomics, sticks and larger buttons.

Re: Anniversary: Super Mario First Went 'New' 20 Years Ago On The DS

WaveWitch

@Tasuki
I feel like I'm almost forcing any bit of excitement I have for NS2 at this point. I think my enthusiasm towards Nintendo as a whole dropped dramatically after they abandoned Stereoscopic 3D, mixed reality, DualScreens(For handheld) and downgraded their motion controls to 6-Axis Gyro which is a huge step backwards vs the Wii remote + Sensor Bar. NS2 has 9-Axis, which is I hear is more reliable and accurate(Much less drifting) but the Wii remote still has the clear edge because drifting is straight up none existant thanks to having a reference.

What's so cool about Valves' upcoming Steam Fream is that it's going to get an update in the future that can reinforce Stereoscopic 3D into any traditional PC/Steam machine flatscreen title you throw at it. It might not do it quite as well compared to a game that was originally designed with S3D in mind, but whatever, I'll take it. It's what I've dreamt of happenieng during the first 1-2 years of the 3DS. TV's adopting glasses-free S3D Technology.

This is why i'm so passionate and enthusiastic for VR/MR. it's the only platform that can give you Stereoscopic 3D, VR, MR and the best in-class motion controls that go above and beyond the Wii remote plus. It feels like a spiritual successor to the 3DS & Wii, minus all of the AAA exclusives.

Still love new wave retro, but most of Nintendo's exclusives don't really do it for me anymore. Yoshi & the mysterious Book looks like a walk in the park and the Video narrorators sound like they're chanting to a room full of toddlers. Looks beautiful though purely based on it's art style. Meanwhile, Star Fox is still just a modern reskin clocked at 60fps of a 3DS remaster of an N64 game, but without that magical S3D effect. It's like, cool, I'll get it. But am I all that enthusiastic to play it? Not really.

I don't know, I'm way more interested in Steam Frame right now, with a good PC(5080)....The RE Requiem PCVR mod is incredible, not even a PSVR2 mode will be able to match it. And i rarely touch my PS5 anymore....NS2 & Steam Frame + PCVR(5080) seems to cover practically everything i need in terms of modern. NewWave Retro, Retro ports/collections, Nintendo Exclusives, 9-Axis Gyro & HD Rumble 2, and then VR, MR & S3D flat PC Games with Steam Frame + PCVR & Quest 3. Combiend with an NS2 Pro Controller, Dualsense & Steam Controller.

Re: Anniversary: Super Mario First Went 'New' 20 Years Ago On The DS

WaveWitch

@Tasuki
I'm not too sure Nintendo would take the risk with a Zelda II spiritual sequel or even SMB2 at this point. Then again, they had the balls release NSO Virtual Boy. So I guess anything can happen at this point.

I still don't have NS2, and I'm not all that excited to jump in just yet. DK Bananza, while wonderful visually including it's OST looks boring and chaotic, MP4: Beyond doesn't have a VR Mode(Wink* lol) and I've heard awful things about that barren overly large dessert hub which was thrown in just because it's trendy, and i never liked Mario Kart 8 deluxe at all, so i won't be touching Mario kart world either.

StarFox looks fine, but it's technically an N64 reskin(Additional modes aside), and i already beat that on 3DS in stereoscopic 3D. I'll get it, but I'm not overly enthusiastic to play it. Kirby Air riders is the one that I'm most intrigued by, but even then I'm not dying to play it. Maybe if NS2 had 3D glasses that would make our TV's stereoscopic 3D some how, as if you peeking through a window in a virtual world. That would get a lot more pumped for flat screen gaming.

If anything, I'm dying to get my hands on the Steam Frame and play the Resident Evil 9 Requiem PCVR Mod. Nothing gets me more pumped than a brand new mainline RE entry, especially in VR. I'm hoping for a Pikmin 4(NS2) port running at 60fps too, and hopefully a Zelda OOT Remake.

Re: Anniversary: Super Mario First Went 'New' 20 Years Ago On The DS

Ya, I'm just repeating myself, but the DSLite & Wii + VC, plus first 2 years of the launch 3DS were such an innovative, magical and incredibly experimental and exciting time for the big N, and for me personally and just where I was at in life(21-28), combined with how awesome NL and it's community was, until that 'happy bubble' of mine bursted at 28.

But in 2013, we quickly transitioned into dark times with the Wii U and the 3DS's stereoscopic 3D unfortunately didn't catch on, many of the new releases were just half baked, that or Wii U ports and just so much of it's library paled in comparison to what released on the DS Lite before it. But man, the first 2 years of the 3DS were absolutely killer. But ya, Pop culture became really grim, dystopian and depressing shortly after the 2010's too. 2013+ I'd say.

Then again, I was mostly living it up like it was late 80's/early 90's lol Blending plenty of that retro awesomeness, be it music videos, home decor, the fashion, cartoons, movies, action figures, boardgames(etc) into the now(The once then now) because the now was depressing, just as it still is now.

Long live the 80's & 90's. The World sucks now. It's not hard to understand why so many people are so nostalgic and yern for the 90s & 80s, because stuff was quality back then, when it felt like we were living in a world full of imagination, optimism and hope, pre-internet/Smart phone/Social media/Reality TV/podcasts and the hundreds of YT News Channels forcing the news down our throats these days. It's all just a bunch of negative awful sh** that you typically can't do anything about anyways.

But ya, NSMB DS is awesome. LOL

Yup! The DS Lite launch was what got me back into gaming. NSMB DS felt fresh for its time because we hadn't seen a legit 2D Mario sequel in what felt like forever. I really enjoyed my time with it back during college. Didn't care for the other 3 sequels though. Super Mario Bros Wonder replaces the last 3 NSB games in my eyes.

Re: 'Yoshi And The Mysterious Book' Game Engine Seemingly Revealed

WaveWitch

@N00BiSH
Wario Land Shake it! is still GoodFeel's Magnus Opus imo. Mysterious Book's Art direction is superb, don't get me wrong, but i'm really worried about the gameplay.

Too many tutorial based videos and quick snippets online that just don't reveal what should be longer stretches of the stages themselves doing a better job at showcasing the platforming, flow and momentum. I still can't get a feel for it.

Fingers crossed that it delivers. But I'm guessing this is going to be a more relaxed easy breezy platformer, maybe similar to Kirby's Epic Yarn. WLSI when aiming for 100% completion by completing all of the objectives was tough as nails. No easy feat. But oh so rewarding.

Such an amazing 2D platformer, one of my favourites of all time that I'd plunk in my personal top 10 no question. It's that good. And those motion title controls were so frikkin awesome back in the day. Be it Wario's UFO motion tilt based thrusters, or his boxing glove wheelie mobile etc.

WaveWitch

@AG_Awesome
I've got Walkabout on PSVR2, but i think I'd enjoy it more on Steam frame thanks to the next gen step up in overall clarity etc, or maybe even Quest 3, after fiddling with GameOptimizer to really push the clarity(With SuperSampling) to it's limits. Stand up VR is abizzilion times better wireless too with Q3(And now with SF), PSVR2's cable is just immersion breaking by comparison, but it has its own set of strengths.

I'm interested in Walkabout's Blokhaven DLC which is slated for early May. And I left out plenty of great VR/MR experiences. Puzzling Places 'MR' is also pretty surreal and magical on Quest 3, Resident Evil 4 Q3, Ocean Rift MR, and so much more.

Re: Two Of The Best VR Games Are Ditching The Headset For A Switch 1 & 2 Summer Release

WaveWitch

@Kidfunkadelic83
Absolutely, but plenty of people who lack VR experience don't have a reference to fall back to. Little Nightmares is another that would be incredible in VR with the same diorahma style presented on a TV, but with life sized characters & environments.

Unfortunately, Little Nightmares: VR echoes throws it all in first person with motion controls. I hear it's pretty cool, but i was hoping for the former.

Re: Two Of The Best VR Games Are Ditching The Headset For A Switch 1 & 2 Summer Release

WaveWitch

@-wc-

That's too bad, you're missing out big time. But if motion sickness is frequent with whatever you're playing in VR, than ya thats unfortunate. You're not the only one obviously! Although, you could always try and grow your VR legs. The only thing that ever made me nautious in VR was some rollercoaster indie title. But ya, i have a feeling you tried VR once or twice with an older headset with just 1 game or two and that was that.

Resident Evil 7 & 8 VR, Ocean Descent from PSVR Worlds, Moss, Astro Bot: Rescue Mission, Compound(VR Boomer shooter), Susbide ect. So many mind blowing transformative immersive & visceral experiences, with more to come including the latest RE Requiem PCVR mod, the release of Steam Frame + Steam Machine, Subside's DLC 'Makao Shelf' and more. Flat screen gaming has hit a wall of diminishing returns, there's zero wow factor anymore, since we've come so far. Not to say you can't have a blast, but we're no longer in the 80's & 90's anymore getting smacked with big generational leaps in power or any real note worthy innovations. The launch 3DS felt like the last console/handheld to do the trick.

Maybe if TV's adopted stereoscopic 3D I'd feel a lot more compelled tho play these days. I find most of these big AAA releases on PlayStation for example utterly boring. NewWave retro is my bread and butter. Lots of great stuff these days thanks to indies and others.

Shovel Knight, Bomb Chicken, Freddy Farmer, Panzer Palidin, Curse of the Moon 1&2, Mega Man 11, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Pocky & Rocky Reshined, The Ninja Saviours and so much more. I'm totally covered for New-Retro stuff, and i can't wait to get my hands on the upcoming Steam Frame + Steam Machine. VR is going to explode in the 2030's, but for now I'm going to take what i can get and enjoy the lumpy ride.

I'm telling you man, if you caught a glimpse of Resident Evil: Village's VR Cutscenes in VR for PSVR2 your jaw would hit the floor. The flatscreen version literally falls flat and can't compete whatsoever. lol

Re: Two Of The Best VR Games Are Ditching The Headset For A Switch 1 & 2 Summer Release

WaveWitch

@PlayingWithPower

Moss 1 VR on PSVR1 was pretty mind blowing during it's time. Strictly in terms of gameplay, I can't imagine this game translating all that well to a TV. It needs VR imo. Couldn't be bothered, playing this on a TV would be a colosal downgrade.

I've dabbled with Moss 2 on PSVR2, but in all honestly, it just feels like a glorified expansion or DLC of the original, but clocked at 90fps with higher resolution(etc) which does make a difference. Wasn't quite enough to pull me in. But I'm also spoiled with Quest 3's step up in clarity thanks to it's pancake lenses, which makes Moss look more detailed, tack sharp and clear compared to the PSVR2 versions.

I'd love to re-experience bits of both with the upcoming Steam Frame on PCVR to get a big bump in visual clarity, and the other benfifits of SF. it's essentially a Q3 Pro on Steroids, purely for VR gaming.

Re: Video: The Great Physical Vs. Digital Switch 2 Debate

WaveWitch

Digital. I only go physical for NS1(And NS2 once i get one) if I actually like the cover art and it's actually available to purchase day one online instead of resorting to LRG and waiting several months to over a year for it to arrive in the mail when the digital version is already available. Forget that nonsense. I'm past that.

I do like the cover art for DK Bananza, Kirby Air Riders, and even Star Fox & Yoshi & the Mysterioud Book, so I'll go physical for those. If they had that awful crossplay text banner at the bottom like with Prime 4: Beyond I'd definitely pass.

PS5 physical media looks attrocious(Cheap flimsy blu-ray cases, with an ugly corporate minimal bland Banner/Logo at the top slathered in legal text agreement you say? No thanks. It doesn' look like video game decor I'd want in my home), so I always go digital for that.

I've got mad Christmas Eve nostalgia for Search for Reptar. It was one of my Christmas eve presents back in 98, of the 4 or 5 burnt PS1 titles. lol Amongst Parapa the Rapper, A Bug's Life & Cool Boarders 2.

It probably doesn't hold up anywhere near as well as it once did, but I enjoyed my time with it back in the day for it what was. I mean, we weren't exactly expecting S-tier or even A-tier experiences out of movie/cartoon liscenced video games during the 32/64 bit era, that's for sure.

Re: "A Difficult And Painful Situation" - Metroid Dread Developer MercurySteam Suffers Layoffs

WaveWitch

I've plunked in maybe 3-4 hours with Dread and it's left me feeling mixed. In no way shape or form does this game have the stellar art direction, sound design and cutscenes that Retro Studious is capable of, but it controls like an absolute dream.

But it looks a bit sterile, barren and cheap(Yet technically proficient), enemies look second rate, the cutscenes look amatuer. It's the epitome of generic, and it's OST isn't all that special. It feels like a high budget outsourced indie game. Would of been really neat had RetroStudios took a on a 2D Troid' instead.

Re: Nintendo Highlights Multiple Major Third-Party Releases For Switch 2 In 2026

WaveWitch

@ReBirFh
Makes less sense when the video game consoles of today are all practically the same thing, sort of. The days of highly unique innovative controllers, distinct Audio/sound and graphic chips are long gone. Consoles just have a lot less personality now Vs what came in the late 80's, 90's and earlier 2000's. I mean, the Switch 2 is essentially a PS4 Pro+ when docked in terms of graphics. It's got HD Rumble 2 & 9-Axis Gyro, but neither are all that exciting and a big leap forward in innovation.

Most devs want to get their game on every single platform so they can make the most money possible, i get that. I guess it's up to Nintendo or Sony to pay whatever dev to get exclusive rights on their platforms, which is probably the case with Orbitals. NS1 had a few timed exclusives like Ghosts n Goblins ressurection, Blaster Master Zero etc.

Re: Nintendo Highlights Multiple Major Third-Party Releases For Switch 2 In 2026

WaveWitch

@somnambulance
Orbitals is also an exclusive 3rd party NS2 release, which is a rarity these days. I'm not intersted in most of these graphically dumbed down multi-console ports, with worse graphics, worse frame rates & resolution.

I want unique exclusive NS2 3rd party titles that you can't get anywhere else. Utlizing NS2's streangths like 9-Axis Gyro & HD Rumble 2. But those days are practically over, unless we're talking 'timed' exclusives.

The last Nintendo console to get a slew of exclusive 3rd party exclusives was the Wii. Elebits, Zack & Wiki, Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz, Silent Hill: SS, Sin & Punishment: SS, RE: Umbrella & Darkside Chronicles, Endless Ocean Blue World, Kororinpa, just to name a few. Best gens for exclusive 3rd party titles was during the 8-16 bit generations, along with PS1, N64 & Dreamcast etc.

Re: PSA: You Can Get Star Fox's Switch 2 Physical Release For Just $50 (US)

WaveWitch

Now if only it carried over the 3DS Remasteres Sterescopic 3D with 3D Glasses when played either on a TV or in handheld. The S3D made it so much more enjoyable than without it, and it definitely helped differentiate the the distance between your ship and incoming objecting, or behind. Pilot Wings Resort is an even better example for that.

Re: Talking Point: Will You Be Getting A Switch 2 Before The Price Goes Up?

WaveWitch

I'll be getting the Steam Frame + Steam Machine or a higher end PC(5080) first. Then NS2. I'm just not all that excited to get my hands on it anymore. My enthusiasm has plummeted a little, but that's also because i have plenty of NewWave retro back log titles to get through on my NS1 that I'm actually more interested in.

I could always just sell my PSVR2(Since Steam Frame is just around the corner) and maybe even my PS5 Slim and put it towards the NS2. Seeing as how i rarely touch my PS5 anymore and don't care for 95% of Sony's Exlusives.

Re: Video: Here's How Star Fox On Switch 2 Compares To The N64 Original

WaveWitch

I remember loving the original N64 game's rumble pack feature, but the actual games choice of colors were so muddy, dark and dready vs the the more futuristic pastal colors of the SNES original before it. Flash forward to the 3DS Remake, and ya, that's when I finally saw it to the end. It was a pretty good time, but i know good and well the stereoscopic 3D lent a great hand at making it that much more enjoyable than it would of been without it.

I'll most likely hop on this, but it's a little less exciting and enticing just because it's another remake/remaster. Maybe if 3D TV's existed I'd be a little more enthusiastic.

Re: Zach Cregger's 'Resident Evil' Movie Gets Its First Teaser Trailer

WaveWitch

@OldManHermit
lol Nice! That''s pretty cool. yet that right there will automatically give you a bit of RE Appocolaype bias, it being filmed in your home town and all haha. I used to do movie extra work back in the mid 2000's on Smallville, Fantastic 4(awful movie), Final Destination 3 and more for months at a time, and seeing it all going down behind the scenes, makes it hard to stomach and take any of it serious once it's all wrapped up and on the big screen.

RE: Appocalypse, i felt, was a huge downgrade from the first film and colosal departure in tone, quality, acting, special effects, cinematogrophy and it's soudntrack, but it's still the most enjoyable sequel I'd say simply because it feels like one big high budget glorified cosplay convention. lol Jill was smoking hot too.

It was the only sequel, aside from the original that stayed true to the location or roots of the series which some RE3 fans will get a kick out of if they go in with uuber low expecatations. But then ever since the 3rd movie Extinction, it branched out and went completely global with each sequel and they kept getting worse and worse.

1 is the holy grail , 2 while a lot worse is kind of fun as it's own thing, and Welcome to Racoon City as average as it is still topples the rest of Paul W Andersons RE sequels. 4: Afterlife was the worst I'd say. And I love the fact that RE 2026 is it's own thing. I want the uknown and unexpected. Not a direct translation or adaption of any of the video games.

And what happened to Paul W Anderson anyways? He did such a wonderful job with Mortal Kombat(95), and some would agree with both Resident Evil 1 & Event Horizon, but after that he just lost the plot.

He's all about big flashy low rent action sequences, strong female leads, and throwing in his wife Mila as the lead in nearly everything he directs. He went all Michael Bay. lol

Re: Gallery: SEGA Shares Early Sonic Adventure Concept Art, Here's A Look

WaveWitch

Sonic Adventure was amazing back in 99 during the launch of the Dreamcast. What a show stopper. I'd rebuy if they ever released a Dreamcast Port for NS2 running at 60fps.

I grew up playing Sonic 1-3 on Genesis, including Sonic 2 on Game Gear, Sonic Pinball, the cartoon series(etc), the Sonic craze hit me like a hurricane, just not nearly as hard as everybodies greasy italian plumber.

But i gotta be honest, i think i was more anamored by Sonics edgyness, he was 'fast', in terms of design he looked fantastic. The mascot and games themselves all sounded and looked so visually appealing, but looking back i don't think i was ever in love with the gameplay itself. These days, I can't stand playing any of the 2D Sonic games.

When the games want you to go fast it's like the equivelant of watching somebody on a rollercoster ride, when the games want you to slow down, they become cumbersome mediocre platformers. lol

No joke, some chick back in the theatres a few seats away from me in 2002 while seeing RE1 was wearing some kind of rotten musk perfume, and it actually added to the experience haha. It was like being slapped with zombie smell-O'-Vision. lol

And ya, that Manson & Macro Beltrami synth score was amazing. 'Seizure of Power'(Plays during the laser room massacre and when the squad crashes through the windows into the mansion) being one of the stand outs, including the track that plays during the opening of the film.

Manson said he was trying to capture the vibe and sound of a darker themed Alice in wonderland. I'd say he succeeded. Too bad, neither composer came back for the sequels.

Re: Zach Cregger's 'Resident Evil' Movie Gets Its First Teaser Trailer

WaveWitch

That scene where the arms & legs popped out of the door frame was amazing.

The first RE movie however is still a good time. Great soundtrack, that laser room scene is classic, and i just remember it being so on the edge of your seat suspsensful back in the theatres. It oozed atmosphere and the OST did a wonderful job at conveying the cold sterile atmosphere. Unforutnately, none of that carried over to the sequels. Oh, and it was also the first zombie comeback film from a genre that had been abscent for just over a decade, which it made it even more interesting and exciting to watch.

How can you not have faith in this RE Reboot given the directors past two movies Barbarian & Weapons. I'm glad the movies it's own thing instead of another video game 1:1 retread. Not everything from the older RE games translates well to the bigscreen, and besides why would you want a faithful adaption when you know where everything is heading?

Steam Machine will be the way to fly for this collection if low latency is actually important to you. That version is packing in between 20-30ms just like the Arcade Trilogy, where as the NS2 port is in the 70-80ms range, which is just over 3x the lag. Funk that.

They can sprinkle in all the updates they want but if none of them are tackling/reducing the lag than why even bother, when the Steam version offers a perfect representation of the Arcade Trilogy.

Ok good. I'm a huge RE fan, but I've held off due to the slim chance of a PSVR2 mode hapenning or being announced during Sony's next State of Play. It's do or die, if there's no announcement than I'm throwing in the towel at an official PSVR2 mode ever happening, and instead I'll just play the pcvr mod with the upcoming Steam Frame.

I haven't played MP4 Beyond just yet, but there's no way in He-man Alien Rogue Incursion will be able to come close in touching the overall quality and variety that Rerto Studios and the Prime series(3 being my favourite) provides.

If VR couldn't save Rogue Incursion, than i doubt even a touched up/slightly updated flat screen version will do the job. Can't imagine it scoring any higher than a 6.

It's pretty repetitious and doesn't offer much variety. The gameplay loop gets old quickly. I've gotten through half of it in VR(PSVR2) and eventually dropped out. VR couldn't even save it.

The upcoming Alien: Death Storm (PS5/PS5 Pro) looks a heck of a lot more interesting and of higher quality. if it supports gyro aiming with the DualSense than I'd defintiely be down if it's as good as it looks in the trailer unveil.

I never complained about how Metal Slug 1 and even 2(which is notorious as heck for it's slow down) ran back in the 90's, when i used to play them in the arcades. They looked phenomenal back in the early to mid 90's. We never once thought, woah...Why is this running at 30fps, why is there so much slow down? But in 2026, there's no excuse anymore giving how far we've come.

But you're right, the Negeo+ is still technically a Neogeo at it's core, so there's no way it's going to push MS1 at 60 and eliminate any slow down. Then again, NG+ does have an overclock mode, so there should still be an improvement regardless.

And they could easily do a ReVamped trilogy, with all 7(including XX) running at a locked 60fps, with zero slowdown and quality CRT filters on modern consoles. Would they be able to do so without any additional emulation lag compared to the real thing? I don't know. And of course, you won't get that perfect blur-free CRT motion clarity from any OLED TV.

If i get this NeoGeo+, I'd use it's controllers wired in, paired with a CRT using composite to get that authentic NG experience, no doubt.

They released XX on PS4, but the latency is really intrusive. It's higher than what's cooking with the Neogeo Arcade Archive releases. Wouldn't recommend it.

If they can re-release 1-7 + XX runnning at 60fps, with zero slow down and low latency than I'm 100% down. There's no excuse for these games to run at 30 with all of that hectic slow down anymore. 2 had it really bad, but then X saved the day, sort of.

Never cared for MS7(DS Lite), it was so vanilla and uninspired compared to MS 1, 2/X & 3....But I have yet to play through, 4, 5 & 6.

Re: PSA: Super Mario Bros. Wonder - Switch 2 Edition Has Received Another Small Update

WaveWitch

@YagaMaki
Disagree. NS1 version of Wonder docked runs at 1080p best case scenario, but also dropps into the 800p range. On NS2 docked, it runs in native 4K. I've also seen sceen shots of wonder in 1080p vs 4K and it's easily night and day. With NS1, you have to ramp up your TV's sharpness to compensate for the 1080p to 4K upscaling. 1080p being displayed natively on a 1080p TV will always looks better.
