Re: Upcoming Resident Evil Remakes Have Pretty Tiny File Sizes On Switch 2

WaveWitch

@DashKappei
I don't use NS1/NS2 in handheld, so i couldn't tell ya!
And yes, OG RE4 on Stand alone Quest 3 is excellent, especially when you buy and use that $10 GameOptimizer and crank the reosolution up to Q3's native 2064x2208 per eye and use SuperSampling with the same 72fps.

By default, OG RE4 on Q3, resolution wise, is just 1680x1760 per eye. It still looks very crisp and clear inside the headset thanks to the pancake lenses, high PPD, RGB display and no mura, but it's not showing it's true potential.

Motion clarity is great with Q3 too thanks to it's 1ms/CRT persistence from it's LCD display, but the LCD display itself has awful black levels, contrast & colors, and another thing so many people fail to point out is that Q3's 3D Depth perception is lacking because of it's weak stereo overlap which is only 69%. PSVR2 by comparison is about 85%, plus it has OLED blacks, great contrast and colors. games look more three dimensional/true to life 3D depth wise for PSVR2 than Q3.

Have you tried RE4 Remake on PSVR2, or Village by any chance? Those VR cutscenes in Village are absolutely mind blowing.

Re: Mini Review: Resident Evil 3 (Switch 2) - An Impressive Port Of A Subpar Remake

WaveWitch

RE2R on PS5 Pro, running at 120fps on my 65" OLED, with a great pair of headphones & Dac/Amp was an easy 10/10. It's masterclass in survival horror.

RE3R? Either a strong 8 or like a B, if RE2R were S-tier. It was such a good time, and it was refreshing, or should i say a nice break from not being constantly confined to a tight knit corridored indoor chlostrophobic nightmare gauntlent that was RE2R.

If only they would of added in the Grave Digger worm, the grave yard, Clock tower and other missing locations from the original.

Very Cool. I guess it's kind of expected by this point. I mean, you can find action figures of literally any property these days, and retro re-issues figurines(etc) seem to of made a comeback in the last 5-10 years, especially with TMNT & Ghostbusters.
Buzz-Off replica hear i come! muhaha.

Now if only they'd re-issue Mighty Max(Series 1) and Savage Mondo Blitzers! Recently, they just released 'Re-Ignition' 1993 replica's of the Mighty Morphin Power Ranger 8" line up/series figures.

Their upper body's look a little buffer than the bottom half, they've lost their orginal 90's gloss and the helmets don't look quite as ergnomic or sleek. But not too shabby!

Re: Review: Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition (Switch 2) - The Gold Standard For Remakes

WaveWitch

@OldManHermit
Completely agree. Capcom did away with the some what lighter and more cartoonier tone, aspects & camp from OG RE4 and just made it all darker, opressive and serious, as expected. But i guess that makes sense instead of doing a tonal retread of the original. it's what most people wanted. Still, It just feels like a more safer 'going through the motions' affair, at least when playing it on a TV. VR saved RE4Remake for me on PSVR2. It makes you feel like you're Indiana jones armed to the tooth, collecting mountains of treasure while traversing through some euro hellish zombie nightmare. lol I really loved the remakes newly added Lake cave sections in VR especially.

Yet, RE2R & RE3R running at 120fps on PS5 pro on my 65" OLED were spectacular. RE2R is Capcom's magnum opus in terms of true modern RE survival horror. Even RE3 Remake, with the missing locations of the original was a really good time, i thought. It's underrated, but i completely undersrtand the frustration. Capcom didn't go entirely all out and made it as full fledged as they should have to appease Nemesis fans.

But back to RE4R, the flatscreen 'Separate Ways' DLC where you played as Ada was such a great time. She's far more agile, snappier and mobile to play as vs Leon and the boss battles(Especially with that Giant cloked insect-thing and pre-mutated Lord Sadler), had me on the edge of my seat. Far greater than that mediocre to decent Shadow of Rose DLC for RE Village. RE Village is still the best VR experience of the lot, including RE7 and the entirity of the Baker Estate.

I'm still a Requiem Virgin. Saving up my pennies for a PC with a 5070 Ti, so i can pair my PSVR2(With a PCVR adapter) & Quest 3(Via Virtual Desktop Wired) to experience the incredibel PCVR Mod. That will be just under $3700, not including the PSVR2 PCVR adapter, or Quest 3 VD Link cable _and RE9 Reuiem on Steam...It's essentially the price of 3 PS5 Pro's. good lord haha. It's really stressing me out. lol

Re: Review: Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition (Switch 2) - The Gold Standard For Remakes

WaveWitch

I loved playing this in VR, for PSVR2...At least with the entirity of the Village 'pre-Castle & Island. I felt like Indiana Jones armed to the tooth, on a treasure hunt in some euro hellish zombie nightmare. lol Favourites moments in VR, would of been traversing through those ganando & treasure ridden lake caves which were brand new to the remake.

I also loved the flatscreen version of Separate Ways(DLC) So much better than Shadow of Rose(DLC) for RE8 Villlage!

And those lucky PCVR buggers. The recent RE4 Remake PCVR mod runs at 90fps, which bypasses motion doubling which plagued the PSVR2 version which was capped at 60fps, contains much higher stable resolutions, with newer and more capable headsets.

The 'flatscreen' version of RE4Remake on PS5, unfortuantely for me paled in comparison to the Flatscreen version of RE2Remake. That game was god/S-tier, an easy 10/10, when running it in 120fps mode on PS5 Pro. I even enjoyed RE3Remake a lot more than the Flatscreen version of RE4R....RE4R excells in VR, and makes it feel a lot more fresh, enjoyable, suspenseful and visceral, even thought it has a handful of down sides compared to playing it flat.

It's not a perfect conversion, factoring in that VR needs far more power to run the game, so resolution, environmental effects like hail & fog take a huge hit, mountain terrain(etc) BUT if you're willing to make due with the following it's an absolute blast.

Separate ways(Flatscreen) I'd say was a solid 9/10. Ada is more snappy & agile than Leon, You've got that hook/grapple weapon to speed through areas and the boss fights were so much better than in the main game itself imo. Also, it's too bad that Capcom completely botched the PS5 versions Gyro Aiming. It's just awful. Thanksfully Requiem(NS2)'s 9-Axis pro 2 controller aiming is perfect.

Whish they could of implemented that level of gyro quality in RE2R, RE3R & RE4R for NS2, just so they'd feel more unique and distinctive, aside from offering handheld play for those that want that. as is, all of the RE's on NS2 are an easy pass for me. If 2, 3 & 4 contained Premium 9-Axis Gyro aiming I may of just caved.

Re: Nintendo States That It Has No Plans To Ditch Physical Media

WaveWitch

I don't give a flying Squirel about PlayStation Physical media, at all, aside from some of the long box PS1 95 & 96' releases. yet PS3, PS4 & PS5 physical media is just attrocious looking dystopian depressingly bleak boring clutter.

But NS1 & NS2 can look pretty nice from time to time. Metroid Prime 4's would of been a win if it weren't for the ugly white multi-cross play banner at the bottom, or those banners with the pesky Key-code nonsense. If they created inside out/inverted artwork boasting the same exact cover art without the white text banners that would of obviously solved the issue. Similar to what Nintendo did with theie NewPlayControl Wii series with the likes of Pikmin 1&2: NPC.

DK Bananza, Kirby Air Riders, Star Fox, Zelda OOT Remake & Metroid Ravenous all look fabulous. I'd get those physical for sure. They look like fun pieces of art(At least from the front), that I'd actually want as part of my home decor.

Re: He-Man's Gorgeous Beat 'Em Up Finally Gets A New Date, Pre-Orders Now Live

WaveWitch

@Tasuki
Didn't they release Mondo-frikkin Gecko as a playable character as additional DLC? He's one of my favourite TMNT characters, period. Shredder's Revenge is quality that's for sure and makes both TMNT(Arcade - 89...Which was one my favourite arcade game of all time.) & TMNT Turtles in Time dated purely in terms of gameplay mechanics & controls, as it should being released decades later.

I've only messed around with the first two stages, but it eclipses that god awful Streets of Rage 4. I just couldn't get on board with that games weird Deviant Art cookie cutter 2000's flash animated looking art style, and the soundtrack paled in comparison to what we got in SOR2 and SOR1. It definitely played better than SOR2. The level of finesse, extra speed, instantanous controls, other adjustments, combined with a few new abilities makes the original SOR2 feel clunky, slow, cumbersome & dated by comparison. Except OG SOR2 looks sooo much better in terms of art style, and it's OST just slaps.

The demo I played of Marvel Cosmic Invasion was fantastic too, yet I'd place Rita's Rewind in 3rd place. It's got some neat 3rd person Zord segmants that lead into a boss battle which were pretty cool. and i get it, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers released back in 93' right around the time I turned 9, so you must of been at least 13. So you were probably too old to appreciate it by that point. It's kind of like the relationship i had with Pokemon. I didn't care for the games or the cards, other than maybe the first season of the cartoon and some of the action figures and that phase didn't last long at all. I was always more of a Sailor Moon(DIC 95' dub) & Dragon Ball Z-guy(That show technically came out in 89' and ended in 94 or 95 in Japan, and was redubbed in the mid to late 90's in NA)

Anyways, Mighty Morphin took the world by storm in 93, but it fell apart for me during the 2nd half of Season 2 when basically half of the cast was replaced, and it just started to get stale. Season 1 was such a blast though, especially the Mini-Series with the evil green ranger. The re-used 1992 Sentai Japanese footage was gold.

Re: He-Man's Gorgeous Beat 'Em Up Finally Gets A New Date, Pre-Orders Now Live

WaveWitch

@Pak-Man
Ha! I hear ya man. lol All the more reason to pre-order in bulk.
I've ordered from LRG, Stricted Limited, Pix'n Love Games. But my physical copies of Donut Dodo, TMNT: Shredder's Revenge & Jim Powers and The Lost Dimensions were shipped to me in like 4 months tops. I got lucky I guess.

I've heard some people complain that their pre-orders from LRG, at times, have taken just over a year to arrive, like that mega deluxe Castlevania Anniversary Collection being one of the biggest offenders. All of that money, for a physical copy of laggy emulations with terrible CRT filters.

Nah! The additional merchandise looked fun, I'll give it that much, but in terms of the games themselves, nothing beats OG software on original hardware with a CRT.

Re: Upcoming Resident Evil Remakes Have Pretty Tiny File Sizes On Switch 2

WaveWitch

@DashKappei
I have Village on PSVR2 & PS5. The DualSense's Gyro implentation is indeed awful. It's loosey goosey, and 6-Axis is prone to drifting. But Requiem on NS2 has 9-Axis(Plus the same 250hz polling rate of the PS5 so it's just as smooth, 1:1 and instantaneous as PS5's, except there's a lot less drifting), and the gyro itself once fine tuned in the settings is an easy 10/10. It's perfection, just like in Pragmata.

But ultimately, 9-Axis tethered Pro 2 Controller gyro can't compete whatsoever to using PSVR2 Sense Controllers since you feel like you're actually holding and aiming weapons like you would in real world, instead of feeling tethered/confined to a traditional controller which doesn't feel anywhere near as natural, nor do they give you the leeway and robustness of aiming proplerly while simultaneously juggling your characters in-game movements with the analog sticks & camera.

PSVR2's sense controllers are essentially the true successor to the Wii remote Plus & nunchuck, but obviously better since they operate in three dimensional VR/space. Plus Haptics & adaptive triggers! Although, Quest 3's controllers win purely for ergonomics(No rings, and they're more comfortable) and they _look more aesthetically pleasing and whimsy.

But ya, Capcom has flubbed all RE Gyro implementation, with the exeception of Requiem. RE4R's were terrible too! I think Revelations 2 may be another exception, but the core game itself was such a disappointment so it didn't matter in the end.

Re: Mini Review: Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition (Switch 2) - Finally Gets The Treatment It Deserves

WaveWitch

These look slightly better, have righer resolution and run at a whopping locked 120fps on PS5 Pro with adaptive trigger support. Already experienced 2&3 Remake that way.

I was hoping for Capcom to give 2&3 on NS2 the same quality 9-Axis Gyro aiming found in Requiem(NS2), but alas. These aren't for me. The next time I jump into 2&3 will be with the latest PCVR mods using PSVR2 & Quest 3.

Re: Upcoming Resident Evil Remakes Have Pretty Tiny File Sizes On Switch 2

WaveWitch

@Zuljaras
Once you experience high quality PCVR mods for Resident Evil, there's no going back to playing them flat. lol I'm guessing you still use your Quest 3(Virtual Desktop, wired) with your 4090?

I really want the Crystal Pro VR headset coming out, but until then I will be juggling both PSVR2 & Quest 3 for PCVR. Resident Evil 7, 8 & 9 VR for PCVR are all ready to go and rival the PSVR/PSVR2 ports.

RE2 Remake VR recently got another update and i hear it's superb as well. Either way, I've already experienced both RE2R & RE3R on PS5 @120fps, on my 65" OLED and 2 in particular, a few years back when I played it was magnificent, and RE3Remake was an absolute blast, regardless of the missing content from the original.

What peaks my interest about these RE2 & RE3 NS2 ports is 9-Axis Gyro(+ 250hz polling rate) implementation, if it's actually included. Requiem on NS2 has perfect 9-Axis gyro aiming, unlike the PS5's which drifts due to 6-Axis. Still, Gyro aiming cannot compete whatsoever vs using a Quest 3 & PSVR2 Sense controller when aiming in VR. Plus, i dont want to be knocked back down to just 60fps for 2&3.

Too much OLED motion blur and the controls don't feel as 1:1 & instantaneous. After playing both of them at 120fps, there's no going back. Same thing with Requiem on PS5 Pro. Which is more like an uncapped fluctuating 80-120fps, unless you opt for 60fps with RayTracing & Spectral Upscaling. But with a 5070 Ti, you can hit up to 120fps probably with RT etc.

I need Requeim in VR though and every RE moving forward(BTW RE Veronica will have a PCVR mod ready to go in less than a month after the steam version releases). I don't know, I just couldn't get into RE9 on my 65" OLED after experiencing Village in VR, just like with RE4 Remake. 2&3 were the exception, at 120fps, but that was then and this is now. But I'll need a PC with a 5070Ti($3600 CAD later)to get there, including a PCVR adapter for PSVR2. Huge investment. That's like buying 3 PS5 Pro's.

Re: He-Man's Gorgeous Beat 'Em Up Finally Gets A New Date, Pre-Orders Now Live

WaveWitch

@Tempestryke
I mean, if LRG had the ability to release their physical copies of said game even just a week later after the digital version launches than I'd be down. But time is of the essence, and I'm not waiting several months to obtain cardboard and plastic when the experience will be readily available in Feb.

Sure, I have a decent enough NS1 back log, but I prefer to randomly play something on a whim that I'm in the mood for, while trying to really savour what I'm playing instead of rushing to get through a stacked meaty back log as if it's set in stone for me to exclusively chip away it before anything new comes out.

Re: He-Man's Gorgeous Beat 'Em Up Finally Gets A New Date, Pre-Orders Now Live

WaveWitch

@Tasuki
And you'll get that LRG He-man Lunch box in 7 months to 1 years time after your pre-order. After seeing LRG at the bottom corner, i was like, ya...Nah, I'm over it. If i can't get an NS1 physical copy of this through Amazon or any normal online retailer, day one, simultaneously with the digital release, than I'm outy' Mcfly.

The lunch box is cool, but it still doesn't look as good as the artwork and set piece designs of some of the original He-man 80's lunch box's imo! Never had one myself(even though i still tuned in to watch both She-ra & He-man whenever they'd pop on TV, and I had some of the action figures. Buzz-Off was the one i remember the most.

Instead, I had Ghostbusters, TMNT(etc) themed lunch-box's back in the day, and probably more. My 89/1990 memories are really starting to get foggy. lol We should both get the digital release of this day one in Feb, play it and share our thoughts. It can't get any shorter and more in and out than a 90's beatem up. Anybody can make time for this.

I still have TMNT: Shredder's Revenge, Marvel Cosmic Invasion & Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita's Rewind on the back burner as far as NewWave Beat em ups go. I must of spent no more than 30 minutes with each. Rita's Rewind has received a handful of QOL's since it's initial release, to the point of jumping up a point or two in quality. Many slapped it with a 6 - 6.5 at launch....now it's like a 7-8. If Rita's Rewind(first and foremost) & this He-man Beatem up launched in lets say 93' back in the Arcades we would of been all over them.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (3rd October)

WaveWitch

WRATH: Aeon of Ruin VR - (PSVR2)
I'm having far more fun with this than i ever did with DOOM(2016) & Eternal. It feels like a Quake + Doom Eternal hybrid, but better. Because it's in VR. If this were strictly flat screen, even with quality 9-Axis Gyro there's a decent chance I'd pass. VR saves this one in particular.

Re: Review: Mobapad C2 Lite Controller - The Best Budget Pad For Switch 2? Probably

WaveWitch

What we need is 12-Axis Gyro(ZERO drifting. Maybe? Which would finally match the pointer aiming accuracy and reliability of the Wii Remote + Sensor Bar), 500hz polling rate(Enter PS6, for an even more instantanous 1:1 smoother feel.) And the ability to switch from Digital to Analogue triggers with Adaptive triggers 2 thrown in the mix. This all sounds like what could be possible with the upcoming PS6 controller.

We'll call this mega epic cauncaction, the Switch 2 Pro Don'tHassleTheHoff Meca doonader' Edition. Rolls right of the Molly Ringwald tongue. Zoink!

Re: Mini Review: Rayman: 30th Anniversary Edition (Switch) - Nicely Orchestrated But Misses A Key Note

WaveWitch

@GoldenSunRM
Just picked this up on sale a couple of days ago, and I would say skip it if you're a big fan of the original 1995 PS1 Rayman.

On the flipside, the 'CRT Curved' filter setting looks pretty excellent when using the 1:1/Original aspect ratio size(Although it's still too large on like a 55" 4K TV), and the emulation lag isn't too bad, although it's there and always will be by default(There's no getting around this. The best Digital Eclipse could do is around 1 frame/about 17ms, and that's best case scenario.)

But as everybody and their 90's grandma knows, the new OST breaks the experience and fails to capture the heart & whimsy of the 90's original. Another stab to the nostlagia, would be the weird 2000-2005 Silver/Grey CRT Frame/Bezels....Nobody had Wega styled CRT's back in the mid 90's when Rayman came out. CRT's back then all had black bezels, or, many of use were still using CRT's from the 80's which were wood panel based.

Anyways, waist of money. I'm so over most of these emulation releases. I'd rather just buy the real disc/cart, and play it on original hardware with a CRT.

Re: Metroid Ravenous On Switch 2 Will Support 120Hz Output

WaveWitch

@Antraxx777
We all perceive motion differently that's for sure!
I can easily tell the difference, and it's a lot more noticeable on OLED/QD-OLED. pop in Metroid Prime 4 on an 120hz OLED TV and switch between 60 & 120 and you'll notice just how much smoother and clearer the motion clarity is. 50% difference.
I couldn't go back to playing Resident Evil 2 & 3 Remake on PS5 at 60fps on my 65" OLED.

The motion blur drove me nuts, but in high frame rate/120fps mode the motion was so much clearer, and it ramped up the fun factor and appreciation for what i was looking at and playing ten fold. And the controls felt more instantaneous, 1:1 and snappy at 120 too.

60fps, however looks peferfect on a CRT SDTV. Has, since the 80's, 90's and early to mid 2000's before CRT's weren't produced anymore. Zero motion blur, thanks to that epic 1ms motion persistence. Motion blur became a thing when sample and hold HDTV 'srose from the depths of He-man hell way back in 2005 with those awful LCD TV's around the time the XBOX360 released.

We've come a long way since then, but QD-OLED, is far from perfect compared to CRT, and even plasma purely in terms of motion clarity. But in terms of Colors, brightness, blacks, clarity(etc)it's an awesome display tech!

Re: Metroid Ravenous On Switch 2 Will Support 120Hz Output

WaveWitch

@Serpenterror
How is it too much? 120fps suits the Metroid series, as it does for lets say Resident Evil. Mario? Not so much.

Besides, 120fps cuts down 50% of your 4K TV's motion blur, aside from adding 60 more fps to make the motion look more true to life and it removes half of your TV's latency so the controls are more instantaneous and snappy. 120fps gives you 3 upgrades in a nut shell.

120fps > higher resolution any day, for titles that suit the extra added in frames. I don't think 120 would look right for Mario, Zelda(Unless it's striving for near photo reallism), Kirby, DK or Pikmin, of the many.

Re: Metroid Ravenous On Switch 2 Will Support 120Hz Output

WaveWitch

This is amazing. Wasn't expecting 120fps, but then again after rewatching the trailer it does seem possible since the visuals aren't quite on par with the likes of lets say OOT Remake. They look excellent, and the art direction, creativity at play, level of detail and enemy design are sooo much stronger and more varied than what we got in Dread.

I'm pumped! Ravenous is such an awesome under utlized sequel name(It's always stuff like Ressurection, Genesis, Afterlife, Reborn, The reckoning etc), combined with it's early 90's/late 90's neon pink styled Ravenous title font, the level of kenetic fast wild energy on display and quick-cut almost anime-like animation and cinematopgraphy makes this feel almost like a spiritual successor to Fusion.

The cover art is great too, since it harkens back to the SNES era and comes across more fun and playful(Like a set piece diorahma) rather than boring stock CG art work. Then you've got that fantastic Samus Amiibo. I'm sure this will rectify all of the mixed feelings currently present with Prime 4: Beyond. Dude, Jaxon would of lost his s*** right now! Over both Ravenous and OOT Remake.

Re: A Trio Of Resident Evil Remakes Hit Switch 2 In October

WaveWitch

Already beat RE2&3 remakes back in like 2024, running at 120fps on PS5 on my 65" OLED TV and they were both glorious, more so RE2R

Then i finshed RE4R in VR for PSVR2, and the Seperate Ways DLC, flat.

RE2&3 i can imagine, running similarily to how they did on PS4 Pro, at 60fps. I'd only double dip with those 2 if they supported 9-Axis quality gyro aiming, similar to RE Requiem.

Re: Metroid Ravenous Announced For Switch 2, Release Date Confirmed

WaveWitch

@mouseclicker
Agreed. I threw in 4 hours with Dread, and I just couldn't get on board with the second rate art direction, uninspired generic enemy design, the mostly bland sterile almost clinical environmets, and amateur cutscenes.

It controlled like a dream, but that's where the positives ended for me with my limited play time. Ravenous however looks awesome! Seems like its rectified the following complaints i made above and then some! it's oozing Fusion 2 vibes. 😙

Re: Sega Announces Two Sonic Game Collections For Switch

WaveWitch

I can't deal with 2D Sonic anymore. When the game wants you to go fast, it's like the equivelant of watching somebody else on a roller coaster ride, which leads to you either smashing into a wall or a pit of spikes. When the game wants you to go slow, it becomes a clunky below average platformer.

And this is coming from somebody who was there and played Sonic 1-3 the day they came out in 91 and onwards. Sonic to me was really all about the mascot himself, the games music & SFX, and exilerating speed. But I'm over it.

But I'll gladly take an optimized port of Sonic Adventure 1(Dreamcast) Running at 60fps on NS2. I've heard good things about Sonic X Generations on PS5, but I'm just not a fan of what I've seen based on Shadow's portion of the game. Sonic's looks a lot more appealing.

Re: Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Launches On Switch 2 On 5th November 2026

WaveWitch

@N00BiSH
Of course it does. You're comparing PS3+ power to PS4 Pro+ power. NS2 is just over 1 generation apart. BOTW & TOTK look that much better running on NS2 @60fps + 1440p, but they're obviously not in the same calibur as this remake. How could they be, when nintendo has clearly taken full advantage of NS2's power

Re: Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Launches On Switch 2 On 5th November 2026

WaveWitch

@Crockin
The visuals and art direction are outstanding, Nintendo has so much artistic merit in the bag. it completely mops the floor all over BOTW & TOTK(NS2 Editions). BUT, is OOT remake running at 30fps, or 60?

Nintendo's officially hit a wall of graphical dimishing returns with NS2 imo. I just wish i could experience this in stereoscopic 3D on a big 65" QD-OLED. If Jaxon was here he would of completely lost it over the 2nd trailer unveil!

Re: Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Launches On Switch 2 On 5th November 2026

WaveWitch

@Vortexeo
The trailer from Nintendo of America's YouTube channel looks incredible on my 65" 4K OLED. The art direction and visuals coulnd't be any more perfect, and i appreciate all of the QOL's.

But is it running at 60fps or 30fps? If this is running at 60 I'll be flabbergasted considering how much detail has gone into the visuals. Anyways, I only sunk in maybe 30 minutes with the original OOT back in 98' on N64, as a rental. So this is essentially going to be an entirely brand new experience for me. BOTW & TOTK just aren't my jam, but this looks right up my alley!

Re: Nintendo Reveals What To Expect From The Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct

WaveWitch

  • 2nd proper OOT Remake trailer
  • Extended OOT gameplay footage
  • NS2 & Pro 2 OOT edition unveil
  • Live Action LOZ movie trailer
  • OOT Remake Amiibo's
  • Maybe Wind Waker & Twlight Princess (NS2) Editions
  • Other merchandise
  • If the 2nd direct unveils NSO DS Lite & 3DS, than they'll celebrate Zelda's 40th even further by adding in Phantom Hour Glass, Spirt Tracks, A Link Between Worlds, and maybe even OOT 3D(Although this might collide with the Remake) & Majora's Mask 3D.

Either way, I'm not really excited. I've never really been a '3D' Zelda fan post the 8-16 bit generations, with the exception of Minish Cap & Phantom HourGlass, but they're top down styled, including ALBW. I'll be tuning in for the direct at 7, but i'm much more excited for Nintendo's regular direct tomorrow.

Also, I'm expecting OOT Remake to run at 30fps, just so Nintendo can take full advantage of NS2's horse power, so they can completely outshine TOTK's core visuals.

Re: Nintendo Announces Two Directs For Next Week, 8th & 9th September 2026

WaveWitch

@8bit-Man

StarTropics reboot, Punch-Out!! sequel, a new Kid Icarus or Wario Land 6 would be killer. Better yet, adapt a game based on Captain N: The Game Master 😉

And you still have to give Nintendo props for having the balls to release NSO Virtual Boy and that replica VB Shell, including those two unreleased titles and multiple exclusive color filters. The ultimate NintenFlex! 😁

Re: Resident Evil Movie Clip Contains Scenes Of Explicit Violence And Gore

WaveWitch

@Dee123
Explicet violence and gore. Right, I've seen it all. None of the violence in RE will be shocking, just as it wasn't in this latest clip. I'm desesitized. Have been since my very late 20's.

The best bit in the the more recent trailer, is when the lead gets in that house, grabs the shotgun, enters the room with the type writer, finds that iconic green RE ammo box in a drawer...But just when you think he's safe, as you'd normally be in an RE save room with a type writer in the video games, he then looks up after grabbing the ammo, and see's that zombie girl running towards him off into the distance through the window. The stuff of nightmares! lol Knowing right where he is, like a heat seeking nightmare missle.

That's the type of stuff i love. The ability for modern horror to scare me(like Heridetary). Heck, even a couple of scenes in Smile 2 managed to do the trick!

I'll defintiely be adding this to the Wishlist.

Hopefully it scratches that F-Zero itch and helps fill the void. It's gutting that F-Zero 99(Which the cool kids already know mops the floor with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. ) is restricted and only available to play with a flippin' NSO subscription. I want to buy it digitally, andale!

I hate gaming in handheld, unless it's for NSO GameBoy or GBA.
Either with JCN2's with a D-pad mod and premium handle grips(Killswitch maybe) or maybe the upcoming Hyperion3 Ultra's which i've been hearing are the real deal.

The only draw back supposedly is that it's HD Rumble 2 isn't quite as defined as the official JCN2's or NS2 Pro Controller.

Ya, I didn't realise that older games were practically locked in by design to lower frame rates. You're saying they could still pull 60fps for both Pikmin 2 & 3, but it would take more time and resources to get the job done? Doubt Nintendo woul even go the extra mile anyways.

There is a half baked solution to this. Playing Pikmin 1-3 on NS2(That is, if you play them with Stick aiming since gyro doesn't cut the mustard nor does it compete against the Wii pointer aiming present in the new play controls series, or P3 on Wii U), would be to play them on like a 55" QD-OLED, basically samsungs line up >

since they offer Motion interpolation in their game mode settings, that can push a 30fps game into a fake 60fps. The caveats would be that the input lag doubles from 10ms to 20ms, and there's occasional motion artifacts. But hey, it's still an option.

Pikmin 4 though, as you were saying could still likely get an NS2 Edition locked at 60fps and at least 1080p - 1440p. That's what I'm really hoping for in the next direct as far as NS2 Editions go, same thing applies to Luigi's Mansion 3 and 3rd party titles like Astral Chain.

@Swifthom
I didn't say or think it was an NS2 Edition. I mentioned that I want an NS2 edition of P3 pumped up to 60fps, but somebody in the talk back mentioned that these games are locked in permanantly to 30 by design with the exception of Pikmin 1 & 4. So it's all irrelevant now and seems like the impossible.

If you're a fan of Pikmin 1&2 new play controls Wii remote pointer aiming, than scoring P3 on Wii U is the definitive way to play it. I can't play Pikmin 1-3 with analog stick aiming on NS2, or 9-Axis Gyro with the detached Joy-Con 2's since it's been altered and implented differently. The pointer aiming just doesn't cover enough ground compared to how it does in the WIi U original, nor is it as accurate or reliable.

Pikmin 3 would of been glorious clocked at 60fps & 1080p+ on Wii U, but alas. You could always force motion interpolation with Samsung QD-OLED TV's to fake a 60fps, but then input lag doubles and it introduces motion artifiacts.

Just looked up the release dates for both DD & Darkula, and Darkula came out around 4 years prior to DD. So DD must of drew inspiration from it, because DD is looking mighty reminiscent of Darkula's core gameplay formula, except DD expands further on the gameplay style, visuals, and so fourth. But i don't have a gaming PC of yet so i guess I'm out of luck! Then again, Darcula looks like it could run on a Franken-potato so I'm sure my Lenova Laptop will get the job done.

Here's another single screen NewWave arcade game that recently came out around 1-2 months ago on NS1 that I've been hearing good things about. It is looking a touch sluggish though, and I'm no too crazy over the stiff character aniamtions. Wish it were a bit snappier & speedy! Still might give it a shot whenever it goes on sale.

As far as other NewWave Retro styled Arcade games, I wasn't a huge fan of Cash Cow, Flora & Fang(Which draws inspiration from Donkey Kong 3, but unfortunately it's long for it's own good and the stages just drag), or Silver Bullet simply because that game is in desperate need of 'detached' 9-Axis Gyro Joy-Con 2 Pointer aiming support. It's a neat and super stylish point racker, but the clunky analog stick aiming tarnishes the entire experience imo.

Then there's Murtop which feels almost like some bizarre spiritual successor to DigDug fused with Bomberman. It's pretty to look at, but in the end it left me feeling a little mixed.

Somebody mentioned it in a Dual Overide YT talk back section, but I guess they were just trolling. Wouldn't be surprised though if Cactus Man ends up winning. That or Cleanser or Valve Man.

I find Juggle Man & Recycle extremely generic in design, and it's probably safe to say that Sweeper Woman is out since we already have a new female Robot Matster(Twinkle Girl).

Oh, may bad. I love DK 94' Played a little bit of it at a friends house back in 94 when it came out on Super Game Boy. decades later, i finally revisted it on the 3DS's handheld Virtual Console, and finished it. It's fantastic. If you're a fan of single screen Arcade games, I highly recommend checking out both Donut Dodo & Freddy Farmer on NS1.

They're both pheonemal, especially Freddy farmer(which a lot of people don't even seem to have a clue about.), which really picks up in the second world(The Mines). fantastic OST too!

NS2 editions are typically required to receive that 60fps Bump. Updates generally just lock an originally unstable 60 to a locked 60fps, double NPC frame rates, or up the res' a little, like in this case with Pikmin 3 when played on NS2.

But ya, I meant to say "still no 60fps, with an NS2 Edition"
Just a free 'update' nothing special here.

it's always exciting getting more Robot Master unveils in the next classic MM entry, including the RM's stage themes.

Cactus Man Apparantly won the fan submission contest too. So 6 more unveils to go! And we don't know which RM theme was played during the recent trailer either. Doubt it was Twinkle Girl's.

The music playing during the 8 month old trailer was pretty terrible. The latest trailers other robot master theme(Whoever it is) defintiely sounds better, but it still pales in comparison to Mega Man's finest.

It took nearly 10 whopping years for The Disney Afternoon Collection to arrive on NS1 & NS2 from PS4. And was it worth the wait? Not really, if you've seen how the original cartridges look, run and play(In terms of latency) on a CRT TV with the original hardware, that is. The NS2 version is notable improvement over the PS4 original, thanks to it's improved CRT Filter, inclusion of GoofTroop & Bonkers, plus using the NS2 Pro Controller's D-pad feels a millions times better than using the DS4 or Dualsense's.

Anyways, I've had the Castlevania Requiem collection for years now on PS4, and it's total trash. I'm a huge fan of Rondo of Blood, and the amount of lag at play(Combined with 4K TV lag), imo, breaks the experience.

Playing Rondo on the Wii's Virtual Console however was soooo much better. Simply because you only had to deal with 1 frame of emulation lag(About 17ms). And there wasn't any lag coming from an SD CRT TV(Like a fullscreen Sony 32" WEGA CRT. Remember, Wii was the final SD Console, and it was 100% best played on a good modern mid 2000's CRT with component cables.) vs the 4K TV's of today which have 10ms of lag, and that Requiem collection in particular is most likely pushing more than 1 frame of lag. Over 17ms, plus 10 from your modern TV and however much from the wireless controller is too much imo.

Ultimately, ROB feels too sluggish and heavy compared to the original PC Engine Disc, and even compared to the Wii VC release + CRT TV, using a Wii remote on it's side TGFX/NES-style. Why bother forking down the cash and time, when you character feels like he's hopping around in metal pants with a ball and chain strapped to his ankle? Couldn't be bothered. lol. Dracula X suffers the same fate in the Castlevania Domius Collection for NS1. But that cart in particular is super pricey on eBay. Either way, it still pales in comparison to ROB so why even bother other than for nostalgia.
