Re: Talking Point: Will Metroid Prime 4 Get A Switch 2 Release?

WaitroseDad64

Of course there will be a Switch 2 version of this game when it launches!

I know this is all speculation but I'm surprised that this is an actual debate. Honestly if they released this brand new, fan-favourite game around the time of the launch of a new console and they'd somehow decide to just let people play it on the new console as a back-compat game, that would make absolutely no sense to me. Luckily that's not what's going to happen, instead it will be a real showpiece for the new hardware.

You may not all agree, but at least I know you'll want me to be right 😀

@AndyC_MK84 what you want is the direction the series is taking i think. The only thing i know is that whoever's in it, it will always be called Mario Kart. The brand is too powerful. Even if Mario was no longer in it it would still be called Mario kart. But this is just a technicality (the name). I can see the series including more and more characters from the Nintendo universe. And yes a diddy kong racing type story mode would be awesome!

@DK-Fan this game doesn't replace 8, just bring the series to mobile. I don't understand why somebody would want to play this over MK8 when having the option.
I do understand why Nintendo wants to tap into the mobile space, but as far as I'm concerned I have 0 interest for Nintendo mobile games. I would even go as far as saying I wish they didn't exist because they cheapen the brand.

Re: Bethesda Brings Hell To Switch This November With The Release Of DOOM 64

WaitroseDad64

@BarefootBowser I agree the N64 controllers are an issue for a mini console. It could work if they maybe reshaped them and made them smaller but then it wouldn't be the same feel as the original and that's kind of the whole point of those mini consoles.
My bet for the next mini console will be the Gameboy mini but at the same time I can see Nintendo being hesitant with releasing this while the Switch is their main console.
(Sorry to other readers for going completely off topic.)

Re: DOOM 64 Rated By The Australian Classification Board

@NotTelevision I think there was a bit of a doom fatigue at the time. Same thing I don't know anybody who picked this up at the time. I've played it a bit recently and I think it has aged much better than Turok. Can't wait to play it on the Switch. I've been loving replaying Doom 1 and 2.

Just bought it and played for a couple of hours. A bit disappointed so far. Very slow start. Some game mechanics and controls show their age. Hopefully the game will reveal itself as I carry on. But ultimately I feel this game would benefit a lot from being remastered rather than just up-res'ed.

Re: DOOM Eternal Will Raise Hell On Nintendo Switch

I'll be getting this on another platform. I didn't enjoy the switch version of Doom so much after playing the game on PC. Panic Button did a great job, no question there. But for me the Switch is not the right fit for the recent AAA titles. I'll give it another shot when they revise the hardware to make it more powerful.

@UmbreonsPapa
I realise it's not really a problem and it's maybe even for the greater good (we want Mario to be popular with the new generation too). But part of me thinks Mario should be treated with more respect. I associate Nintendo products with quality and that's always been the foundation of Nintendo. Here what I see are cheap ugly toys so part of me is a bit disappointed.
