Mario Kart is good but it’s the least I’ve played a MK. Development should have focused on more fun tracks instead of the open world. Not many tracks stand out. Too much blind luck is involved (a lazy crutch Nintendo has relied on for too long).
I’d recommend Sonic (not switch version) over MK because it focuses ln what makes a kart game fun and rewards skill.

A trailer is your time to shine and this rightfully has people concerned. Take a look at Destiny 2 sparrow riding. Metroid looks like GameCube game in comparison.
It still might be great but then whoever cut this trailer did the game no favors.

Stop pretending gaming companies care about their fans. Their only goal is to get as much money out of you as possible. Nintendo is no different.

@Wewewi unfortunately that’s true. This is the least amount I’ve played a MK game. They wasted time working on the world part instead of making a lot of great courses.

I wish we got more courses like the one based on the original DK. Many courses don’t stand out. Also, Nintendo has used their rubber band system for too long now. For decades we have won 3 150cc races just to be blue shelled, red shelled and lightning’d right at the end of the race. Sometimes the computer character can shrug off blue or red shells. It’s a lazy system in place of legitimate difficulty.

The one new game is #12? Most of the rest you’ve played years ago.

Why pay for an inferior port you can get cheaper on another system ? Why pay an absurd amount to replay something you have played already ? Unless you have to play handheld, there’s no reason to get these ports. Put out an original new good game and it will sell.

It’s ok but I also don’t think people should lower their scores for the game. It’s just an extra thing added. I’ve seen a few reviews feature it as a main complaint. But if it wasn’t there at all, the score probably would have been higher.

Home console and a handheld. Not the same market really IMO.
PS5 first party is lacking right now but switch 2 has 1 original first party title right now.

It’s very light on original games. I’m getting Mario kart but nothing else until DK. I’d rather do something else than play ports or slight remasters.

Nintendo did the bare minimum. They are a business that can maximize profit from their fans like no other game company. Can’t blame them.

I can’t see myself buying any games this way. I’ll buy most 3rd party on other systems or digital on switch 2 if that’s my only option.

In other words they are charging the max amount they can get from fans because … they can and fans will pay.

Many here have made it clear that graphics and frame rate are irrelevant and Nintendo can continue to be a generation behind to save money.

@DarkCoolEdge The prices won’t make a big difference in my life. But I worry about the people who have to save money to buy a game. The families with kids who are scraping by. Obviously the world is on fire and there are bigger issues but this just adds to it.

@AirBureau the competition spends a lot more on development. Red Dead 2 cost $400 million to make. Mario Kart 9 costs a fraction of that.

People pay $15-$20 foe small cosmetics. If people wouldn’t buy them, the prices would go down.
I love many Nintendo 1st party games. But Nintendo and the other companies love our money and will take as much as they can. Most of the Direct was on old games they will charge full price for.

It bothers me because it takes you out of the game as it did with TOTK. Nintendo doesn’t need to be the most powerful but it needs to be able to seamlessly execute the amazing worlds they create. Pop up was bad in KOTK and it pulled you out of the world.

Zelda TOTK was such an immersive experience but it was really disappointing to look off in the distance and see a mess that’s supposed to be a dragon. Or not see things at all until you are right up on them. Nintendo doesn’t have to be the most powerful but being a generation behind hurts the games.

@The_Blue_Mage for sure, the price isn’t warranted. Great classic game for sure. But 59.99 is the price for a game built from the ground up with years of development and millions dumped into it. This is the Nintendo tax.

Why would Nintendo make it backward compatible? As a business, the fans will pay full price for direct ports of Switch games.

Why is anybody offended by this? Besides, Switch is successful because it’s a hand held. It would have sold a fraction of the amount of units if it wasn’t portable and had the same specs. GBA could be played on your TV too.

It could be 10fps and 59.99 and it wouldn’t deter some. Why bother putting money and development time into something when the fanbase will buy it anyway?

BOTW was designed for the 2012 WiiU. Switch is 6 years old and wasn’t on par with the 2013 PS4. So I would hope the new hardware can run TOTK better.

TOTK is an amazing game. A game could beat it by being more original. TOTK is a lot of recycled content. Items are the same. Enemies are mostly the same. The map is the same. The economy is the same. Flying dragons are the same. Etc etc. 7 years of modding BOTW.

@Beefcakeyamato I agree. Personally I don’t do it. But making money was pretty meh in BOTW and Nintendo copied and pasted the same method to Tears. The best hunting spot is still the same. The high selling item you cook is still the same. So if somebody doesn’t feel like doing the same exact thing from BOTW, who cares.

Switch is a handheld. Yes you can plug your hand held into your tv.
There’s some overlap but pretty different experiences.

@antisumo technology has advanced. Why not keep the iPhone 1? It’s cool to enjoy what you have but Zelda is hurt because of old tech. Pop up, poor view distance etc take you out of this incredible world. Switch isn’t even PS4 level.

Absolutely loving the game. But it is let down by the hardware that is 10 years or so behind. Seeing a dragon in the distance is great. But it’s a grey something with no texture. Textures pop in constantly up close. Detail in distance is poor. It takes my eyes a bit to adjust after playing newer hardware.

Two things kept botw from being my favorite game. The breaking weapons and the lack of traditional Zelda dungeons (replaced with 4 forgettable ones). Breaking swords are back. Yay.
I’m sure it will be great once we get our hands on it. It’s just hard to believe it took this long for a game that appears to be sidewise and not the next step.

Compared to a $40 no effort Metroid Prime? $70 is a bargain.

Looks awesome. Some people are going to whine about everything and nothing will make them happy. Some people somehow know how Peach’s story plays out. And to whine about Pratt’s voice? I’m sorry your mom forgot the tater tots tonight but if taking it out on a movie you haven’t seen makes you feel better, have at it.

I love BOTW and it’s crazy that none of the main dungeons are worthy of a “best of” list. It would be a chore to play any of them again.

Looks really good. They could have phoned it in and made money. Looks like kids and adults can enjoy this.

@BloodNinja true but those games aren’t on the same level as the SNES games. And Nintendo isn’t a great model for fair pricing.

It is the least amount of effort Nintendo could have done. The general consumer has told Nintendo it’s ok to charge full price for ports and to put less effort into their games. As any company would, Nintendo is happy to give you less and take your money.

Nintendo doesn’t have to try this generation. They have the only hand held. They can put zero effort into a port and charge full price. They can’t rely on WiiU ports next time, so they are saving things for next system.

@Rambler Nintendo is doing what it’s doing because it can. They can charge full price for ports. They can put minimum effort into online services because they can. My comment about Pilgrims is about Nintendo not wanting to advance.

I don’t care about open world, graphics, frame rate, length of game, cost, online play, radiation seeping from the cartridge etc says many of people.

Metroid 4 isn’t out yet because Metroid hasn’t been a priority for Nintendo for a long time (not even taking the recent delay of totally starting over). Why spend a huge budget developing a game like Metroid when 2014’s WiiU’s Mario Kart is still a top 10 game. While we love Metroid, other franchises sell more.

I buy Nintendo systems for first party games. If a game is on other systems, I’m going to buy the best version.
Nintendo charges full price for ports. They are no different than Microsoft. Nintendo cares about their fans….money.

@Einherjar I think it’s solid. But I’m wondering if some people played some of the 3DS metroids. It felt like an extension of those and not the next step using the power of the Switch. It’s a short 2D game with recycled EMMIs and chozo soldiers. Each EMMI is the same fight.
If Nintendo would have made it in house, it may have been game of the year. But these games that are farmed out are missing the Nintendo touch.

@UltimateOtaku91 exactly. So few original first party games. Metroid Dread is certainly good, but it hardly pushed 2D games or even Metroid series anywhere new. Boring EMMIs you fight the same way each time. It’s short which is ok, but a chunk of that time is back tracking.
With lazy ports topping charts, Nintendo has little reason to give us anything new. They have no competition because its a hand held. If this was a home console only, it would be last place.
Nintendo can make classics like nobody else. But lately for me, it’s like watching an A student turn in consistent C work.
