I’d like to see remakes more like Metroid II. I don’t have time to replay games that are exactly the same except graphics. There are so many new games to play and new experiences.

@retro_player_22 I hope so. It’s not close to being worth $60 with just a graphics update.

I like LA but it’s a small game with a small map. It would have to be an additional multiplayer 4 swords type game.

@DartBuzzer I bought psvr in December. Four of my friends tried mine and all bought it. While games that have you walking around quickly can make me woozy, there are plenty that don’t. I’ve said before but Moss and Astrobot are better then anything Nintendo released last year. VR is great for shorter play times. There is definitely room for games like that. I don’t need to play a 100 hour epic in VR. Sometimes you just want a fun game to play quick. I bought the headset, two controllers, camera and two games for 249.99. People will pay $60 for a port of super Mario Bros U. You can get a bunch of great games for really cheap on VR because they go on sale all the time. Rush of Blood was like 4.49.

I have a psvr and it can be amazing. But It’s limited by the power of the PS4 pro. The Switch VR would not be a great idea. VR experience is all about horse power.

games is the most pointless out of all companies. They are so secretive and it mostly ends in disappointment.

The price is insulting.

@starman292 yeah I hope so. It looks like the exact same game including the speed Link moves. Its not a large game so it would be ridiculous to pay full price for a game boy game with new graphics.

@starman292 it’s listed as 59.99 at Best Buy right now. But I hope it’s a mistake. An animal crossing paint job isn’t enough to justify full price.

It was good for “Nintendo only” fans. Not much for those with other consoles.

I played this for the first time a couple years ago. If it’s the exact same stages, I’m going to skip. But if you haven’t played it, it’s probably worth it. Hopefully it’s not 59.99.

If this game is on par with MK, I’d be interested. If this is another decent game, count me out.

@Lagster_YT yeah there’s no difference between the companies. Nintendo doesn’t care about their fans anymore than Sony or Microsoft (they equally only care about our money).

For me, I buy Nintendo systems for a few games. It used to be my go to. Through the launch of WiiU, I would try and buy some games to play on the system just to support it.
There are just too many better games to play on PS4. How many of you have played through Red Dead 2s story? It’s probably the most moving storyline I’ve played. You can’t play Tomb Raider or Spider-Man on Switch.... which is crazy to me. I know Spider-Man is exclusive to Sony, but where is Nintendo’s equivalent ?
There’s some overlap that Nintendo and Sony are competing for. Nintendo has the casual and kid market cornered. Sony has the mature market. Competitive would choose pc or Sony.

Yeah I was saying it shouldn’t be in the single player game. If people want it in pvp that’s fine. It is helpful for small kids or people who don’t play games.

For me, the blue shell makes the game less fun. It should be an option in pvp for people who don’t play games much. MK8!is incredible but the blue shell will make me turn off the game and play something else. Even if I’m so far ahead it doesn’t matter, it’s just plain annoying.

@DartBuzzer PSVR lineup last year was better than Switch’s.

@Edu23XWiiU I regularly use the service and have played a couple thousand hours online. The service is reliable and embarrasses what Nintendo offers. Yes it goes down....as do cable sevices, phone services etc.

@DannyBoi they are in a unique position where they can go the cheapest route.

Nintendo’s innovation has been sorely lacking lately. Smash is a polished version of the WiiU game.
But why should they do anything different? Nintendo fans line up to buy Super Mario U deluxe at full price.

I’m saying compared to PS, Nintendo’s releases over the past year aren’t even comparable. Nintendo polished up Smash WiiU.

Nintendo has done a great job fighting video game addiction over the last year by not releasing any games to get addicted to.

For me, portability was a feature I paid for that I didn’t want. I wanted to play Zelda on my tv screen. It seems a waste to play on a
Small screen.

If PSN is $59.99, then Nintendo’s should be under $5.

@nessisonett I agree. Unless portability is more important to them. I’ve played Switch a couple hours total in hand held mode. So I’m always going with the superior version of the game.
Nintendo’s innovation with games has been poor lately. They aren’t taking their franchises to the next level... they are only adding an HD coat.

@Nicolai that’s not how stock market works. If any company cannot accurately predict sales, stocks take a hit. People bought stock based on selling 20 million.

Seal doesn’t mean much. But I used to buy games just based on if Nintendo made it. Today, unless it’s a main Mario, Zelda etc entry I will buy based on reading reviews and opinions. Games like Mario tennis are 7s to me, and there are just too many better games to spend my time with.

@GravyThief stop making sense. I’m no stock market expert, but this is as basic as it gets. Yet you keep seeing people state how great the sales numbers are.

It can be argued Nintendo was overly ambitious with their forecast and caused their stocks to fall? That’s the exact reason lol. Switch is doing very well. But if you tell the market you will sell x amount of units, you better hit that. The market has based the price of your stock on those sales. You can’t say ...oh well we still sold an impressive amount of units.

Some need to read up on how stocks work. Nintendo stated a certain sales forcast to the market. If you miss that mark, your stock will drop. Saying Nintendo had a really good year or sold a ton of games is not understanding how stocks work. Nintendo isn’t being unfairly punished lol

Luigi and maybe Bayo. Nintendo makes a small number of games, and unfortunately for me lately, they aren’t what I’m looking for. Where’s the next IP adventure game? It’s been 5 years since MK8. Where’s something like Diddy Kong racing? A new Wave Race? 1080? Pokémon, fire emblem and Animal crossing doesn’t do it for me. Full price ports aren’t for me. Too many great original games on other systems to play. Nintendo made expensive controllers but barely use the technology inside.

@JamesR This isn’t about how great the Switch is doing. This is an investor issue. If you say you will sell 20 million and end up selling 19.5 million, you missed your sales forecast. And in investors eyes, you failed to accurately predict your business. Stocks are a weird thing, and you can lose stock price by even just merely meeting your sales target.

@misterMike absolutely. I don’t care about any of the companies. Whoever makes the best games gets my money, and Sony got all of mine. If anybody thinks Nintendo was in the same league as Sony last year, they haven’t played anything but Nintendo games.

I’d take ports out of the average.
There was no contest between PS4 and Switch. God of War. Red Dead 2. Spider-Man. Moss. Astrobot. PS made the best Nintendo games this year with Moss and Astrobot.

Yeah I wish they would sell off the franchise. I think it would find a bigger fan base on other systems. It will be a decade between M4 and M5. That’s ridiculous for fans, but when lazy ports print money, why should Nintendo care ?
Metroid was the only title announced for the near future that I was really excited for on Switch.

Other M story was so painful and cringe worthy. The gameplay was ok.
And yes, it’s better to restart than release a crappy game. But if Nintendo made Metroid a higher priority, they wouldn’t be in this situation. It will almost be a decade since the last one.
Also, many are commending Nintendo for their honesty. But wasn’t it a few months ago they were saying that M4 development was proceeding well?

@onex never said it was dead in the water. But It’s a legitimate question to ask about a studio that hasn’t released anything in 5 years. And 12 years since Metroid Prime 3. But again, Metroid isn’t a priority for Nintendo. More people on Switch would rather pay full price for Super Mario deluxe than Metroid 4.

Retro have the same people that worked on it before ? It’s been so long I’m guessing most have moved on.
I wish Nintendo would just sell the franchise.

@NoxAeturnus oh I agree it’s my personal preference. I love Zelda, Mario, Mario Kart etc. Millions love Pokémon and Animal crossing but I’d rather play something else. Metroid isn’t going to sell as many as some of their ports, so I get it. But the best Nintendo games last year were Moss and Astrobot.

2019 was never confirmed, you are correct. The disappointment for me is that it’s starting completely over. Nintendo doesn’t put their A team on Metroid... or this would never have happened.
While I’m going to buy Luigi, nothing in Nintendo’s lineup has me excited. I’d love to see a new innovative IP. I’d love to see an older franchise taken to the next level. Nintendo could say they are done with the Switch and it really wouldn’t matter to me at this point. I don’t count on Nintendo anymore for games. I expect 1-2 great games from them a year and unfortunately for me, Smash was that game last year. I liked the last animal crossing but I can’t see me getting invested again for what I’m guessing is an HD ultimate version of the last game. Yoshi will probably be a solid “7” which doesn’t compete with other games on other systems. I’m hoping Luigi wows me.

@Zach777 Metroid isn’t a top priority for Nintendo unfortunately. A lazy port of Super Mario 3D World will outsell Metroid.
