Where To Pre-Order SEGA Genesis Mini 2 In North America
In North America, SEGA has confirmed that the Genesis Mini 2 will be exclusive to Amazon. The product page has already appeared below, albeit with a rather surprising price point of $103.80 at the time of writing.
Naturally, with the console supposedly being exclusive to Amazon, you won't find one anywhere else:
What About Europe?
In Europe, the Mega Drive Mini 2 will again be exclusive to Amazon at a price of £104.99.
Pre-Order The Japanese SEGA Mega Drive Mini 2
If you're happy enough picking up the Japanese edition of the console, or if you simply want one for your collection anyway, sites like Amazon Japan and Play-Asia offer international shipping.
Where To Buy The Original SEGA Genesis Mini
Stock of the original SEGA Genesis / Mega Drive Mini isn't easy to come by these days – especially at normal prices. Our dedicated buying guide contains links to the original product pages of all the major retailers who stocked the console when it was readily available, but expect prices to be wildly over RRP these days – if they have any left at all!
Your best bet might actually be to search for the system on eBay. Good luck!
Are you happy that the Genesis/Mega Drive Mini 2 is launching in the west? Are you thinking of picking one up? Let us know in the usual place.

That price is too high for just around 50 old 16-Bit games. Dropped $50 from the MSRP and maybe I'll pre-order one.
Hi Nintendo Life thank you for the helpful information…I ordered mine this morning. The price seems fair to me remember as gamers If you want to play you gotta pay, nothing worth having cones free and SEGA does good on there mini consoles…..
The NA price is essentially the converted Japanese list price of 14,400 yen.
I'm hoping for a U.K release, I loved the first one...
Still doesn't ship to Canada. =(
The US version says shipped by Sega of Japan and requires $20 shipping. I’m guessing this is a sharply limited release?
Well, going to preorder on the hope that the price drops before release.
Hoping that is not a final price and just an overestimate for price guarantee reasons.
Yeah...with that price and shipping from Japan, it feels like they don't REALLY want to sell the thing in America at all. I don't wanna pay $125 for this thing, sorry.
I'd rather just buy a modded Genesis Mini 1...
At this rate by the time they get to Sega dreamcast games all the fan base will be dead
That price seems steep. If they drop the price a bit then maybe I’ll consider getting it.
Another fine example of Sega dropping the ball yet again. It should be $50 - $60 (tops), and shipped from the USA (free Prime shipping), for being sold on Amazon's US storefront. The first Genesis Mini, came with TWO controllers, is more iconic, has better classics, even a Disney licensed game (Castle of Illusion: Starring Mickey Mouse), and sold for $79.99, and quickly dropped to $49.99. This should not be more than that.
That's ...a lot. No thanks.
I'm definitely interested in this, but it comes down to the final game list. So many ways of playing Sega games though that I skipped on the last Genesis Mini.....and unless the games list BLOWS me away, may skip this one too.
Now.......if they do something with Saturn or Dreamcast......yes. I'm down for that.
It’s too high in price right now to get. I don’t think it will sell well either until it’s on sale, but I’m definitely interested.
@Serpenterror $100 for 50 games is too much? Now I've seen everything!
It's the same price as an SNES mini!
If it includes Lunar and its sequel, it'll be worth the price for sure.
@BloodNinja true but those games aren’t on the same level as the SNES games. And Nintendo isn’t a great model for fair pricing.
Probably not going to purchase it at launch because of the price and the easy accessibility to every Genesis game under the sun currently. I absolutely love the way this looks, so if it shows up on Marketplace in a few years I'll definitely consider it.
The tiny console thing doesn't really grab me with how much I already enjoy NSO and the Steam Genesis Collection. Also having the original console makes it a moot point
Would be nice if SEGA learned that Canada IS part of North America, not impressed
"What About Europe?"
Yeah, what about Europe?? I really regret not buying the first model, I'm still trying to get it.
@nolf69 SEGA and Nintendo Life lol. Not listed on Amazon.ca and no other retailers seem to be selling it here. Amazon.com wouldn't shi to my CA address so looks like anyone interested would need a proxy US address or ship from Play-Asia ($136 + $30 shipping ($173 total)). Yeah, nah.
